I'm used to counseling sessions where you have to go for a few sessions before some help starts, and so it just feels exhausting to even get started with someone new. But Mary is Very intuitive. She got right to the heart of the matter, very quickly, and gave me some really practical advice. And that advice Actually Worked. I'm still in awe as she has no context on my life or my "spirited" kid. If you're having any challenges with your kids, I totally recommend setting up an initial session with Mary to see if you like her style. I'm really thankful for her advice

Fast forward to today and I am a calm mother. I have 3 children. My daughter going into her tween phase and there's a parenting style for that stage which I had no clue about. I also have two rowdy preschool boys. They love to climb, jump, build, destroy, wrestle. That is something I had to learn to be comfortable with as long as it wasn't dangerous and learn there are safe ways for boys to have their time in their way. Mary is amazing! She has guided and open up so much to me to be the parent I want to be.

Since the studio is so close and this was an opportunity to extend my new mom network, I pre-registered for the second time mom class while I was pregnant. I was assigned to a class with Julie as the instructor whom I just adored from the moment I met her. She was such a warm smiling presence to come to for 8 consecutive weeks. The topics spanned different things like pelvic floor, infant PT, 2 different mental health therapists, a parent coach to help with the transition from 1 to 2. We had a small group of 7 moms and were able to meet up a couple times during our class series. I enjoyed my experience at the los Al location and the parking was certainly much less stressful than in newport. Iykyk.

After the sessions, participants were grouped by due date, and every mom in my group was a first-time parent. Rather than feeling welcomed, I found myself standing outside the circle while the others talked and shared their experiences. I felt excluded and never truly included in the group discussion, so I left early. During the Q&A, I attempted to ask a question, but the speaker talked over me before I could finish, which made me feel dismissed. Overall, I left feeling that the experience was not very welcoming or inclusive for moms whose experiences differed from the majority of the group. I would recommend that second-time moms interested in New Mom School services skip the Bumps & Bagels event and book directly, keeping in mind you won't receive the $50 discount, or consider seeking group support elsewhere. Alternatively, I encourage New Mom School to consider offering a Bumps & Bagels event specifically for second-time (or experienced) moms. Having a space where parents with similar experiences can connect and share would make an introduction to the program feel much more inclusive and valuable for families beyond their first pregnancy.

First, her classes are awesome - straightforward and so informational. Cassie has a ton of experience and she shares her wealth of knowledge in such a clear and concise way. But more importantly, she was a voice of calm as she was our night doula 3x a week for the first month of my twins' lives. The first week, she came during the day just to help me get settled. I think a core memory for me will be waking up (4 days PP) after the longest nap of my life to Cassie serving me my lactation tea and reminding me to pump. For weeks 2-4, she came 3 nights a week and took care of all of the night feedings. Not only did she take AMAZING care of the babies, she was always there to support me and my husband. She had wonderful advice for everything from which probiotic to use, to which bottles work best for our babies. I truly cannot recommend Cassie enough. She helped us start our parenthood journey off strong. By the time she had to move on to her next client, my husband and I felt well equipped to take on every night on our own.

Although she couldn't be there our first night home, she made sure we had support from her Mom who also is a postpartum doula. She was able to help us until Cassie could start with us at our scheduled time. My daughter also had some tummy issues that we weren't sure about and Cassie recommended we bring in a diaper to get it tested with our pediatrician and she ended up being diagnosed with a dairy allergy. We would have never known to do that if it weren't for her. She is so sweet and makes you feel so comfortable as you navigate this next stage of life!

Kym demonstrates invaluable amount of effort and true kindness along with patience, when working with all the other kids, including mine. There was not one day, nor one minute where she took any shortcuts just to get these classes done, she truly cares, no doubt. My wife and I, as parents, appreciate this Help and everyone in my family notices my daughter speaking a lot more clearly and detailed. The staff was always kind and always gave me direction. I called to find out and they made me wait until 2 days before and told me it'd be $90 co-pay since I didn't meet my deductible for the year with my insurance. Ok no problem... but then I've since been billed $325 that my insurance hasn't covered. I should have been made aware of the full cost of the appt BEFORE her appt. The person who did her appt continuously used jargon and abbreviated terms when discussing my daughter's assessment. I found that to be highly unprofessional. At the end of it she let me know that this facility is really a short term solution only for 6 months and that she would need to go to her school district to get a separate assessment through the school system. Such an incredible waste of time waiting months to find out just send her to school where it would all be free.
