Omg, take me back to the days of dreaming of having a tea party like this! My inner child is jumping up and down! This venue is small, but the perfect size for a more intimate gathering, my party was 22 people and we fit just fine. The waitress was adept at explaining the tea flavors and describing what was on the serving trays as they were set down, and the owner, Sherry, was a joy to work with. Her friendly and professional demeanor helped assuage the stress of throwing an event, and her contracts were well drafted and easily understood. I can't wait to go back in my own time just for lunch and tea! When I studied at Pitt, I love the Heinz Memorial Chapel a lot so my husband and I decided to have our wedding there after my graduation. At first, I thought I could handle all the wedding details by myself to save the money but then I figured out that mission impossible. I would have my wedding, my graduation project and final research paper at the same time! I would be an insane bride! So we started looking for wedding planners and Shari was the first one we contacted. Her professionalism, experienced attitude and thoughtful consideration really impressed us. After a few comparison with other wedding planners, we had Shari's assistant Andrea as our wedding planner. Andrea is the perfect one. She is nice, easy to communicate, thoughtful and very professional. I have no idea of how an American wedding goes like and she was so patient to explain all the details to me. She helped the most when we picking up all the vendors due to my budget. As my husband was working in Beijing, China by the time I was preparing the wedding, Andrea was the most helpful one to me. I can't say enough wonderful things about my experience working with Shari while planning my…read moredaughter's Bat Mitzvah. I contacted Shari to work with her as a consultant, because I was stuck and could not seem to make any decisions regarding this big event in our lives. My questions ranged from: what kind of linens should I use - to how do I select all of the vendors - to do we need a theme - to how should I arrange the seating - to where do I put the fabulous candy bar (the only request from my daughter). Basically, where do I get started! Shari really took the time to answer all of my questions with professionalism and care. She gave me suggestions that were not only unique and interesting (not the "same old, same old"), but that fit my budget, and allowed me to feel like I was able to tackle everything on my "to do" list. In addition to putting my mind at ease regarding the planning, she also created a timeline for me to provide to my DJ and venue contact so that things would run smoothly on the day of the Bat Mitzvah. My family, especially my husband who now can truly see the value in this service, are thrilled with this experience with Perfectly Planned by Shari. A fun and delicious activity! We visited Tastebuds Kitchen…read morein State College to participate in one of their adult BYOB cooking classes (we had gift certificates). We had no idea what to expect, but had so much fun we are still talking about our evening! We registered for the Indian cuisine course (Samosas, Tikki Masala, and naan bread) that took place from 6:00-8:00 on a Saturday evening. This is a fun, lighthearted, and more of a social activity than a hard-core cooking lesson, which we enjoyed. Upon entering the establishment, we were very pleased with the bright, colorful, and simplistic decorations/equipment. Everything was very clean and no extra clutter existed, which is what one would want in a food prep area. For this class there were 3 stainless steel tables (4 people per table) set up with stools, parallel to the demonstration area. We were given aprons to wear and introduced to our assigned station and group members (We had the best and most fun people at our table!). After everyone had arrived and introductions completed an overview of the course and food was presented. Efficiency is best to describe this course. While we were watching the demonstration for one component of the meal, the assistants were placing the necessary equipment and supplies to make that component at our table. After the demo of each course/food we returned to our stations and worked as a group to prepare/cook that item. After we completed an item the assistants would take them from the station to hold for later and we returned to the demo area for the next presentation (the assistants would also clean the area during this time). This process repeated for each menu item. I wish I had this type of set up while cooking at home! After the last item is prepared, the assistants bring each table place settings and then serve all the dishes we prepared family style. I loved the family style where we actually were able to sit and enjoy a full meal of all items we prepared throughout the event instead of just tasting pieces along the way. We had a great time and are looking forward to taking additional courses in the future. Yes, the cost is a bit steep $55pp, but for 2+ hours and a full meal etc, I would go again for a date night/group outing.
