My husband and I recently visited a friend in Stratton, Nebraska (SW corner of the state). Places to stay were limited & unappealing until a lucky comment steered us to the Blue Colonial B & B in Trenton. Driving up to the place (about 2 miles N of Hwy 34), we instantly loved the pastoral setting and the inviting porch & yard with seating to relax, look at the countryside & watch the many birds, especially the wild turkeys. Inside, the Blue Colonial is stuffed with interesting antiques. Valerie, the owner, is not only a warm & wonderful host - she is a fabulous cook! Breakfasts were excellent, but if you stay here (or even if you don't) you must arrange to have her prepare a meal for you. She made a 3 - course dinner for 4 of us that was SO good, every plate was clean and I had dreams about her Poppy Seed Chicken!! The Blue Colonial is extra special because there is nothing else like it in that area. We will stay again any time we can! read more
