I eventually convinced her it shouldn't be my card, since my employer was covering the costs. But she acted so suspicious about it, I made a video of the room before I checked out just to prove there were no damages, on the off chance she tries to claim anything later. Like comeon, I'm an old guy on a business trip in a backwater town. It's not like I'm going to throw a rockstar party in your tiny hotel room.

We did not arrive until after 11:00pm, and we had no reservation, but they were willing and able to check us in. The gentleman checking us in was very kind and went out of his way to offer us help with anything we needed. The room was very clean and neat. All the appliances worked and there were a good amount of plugs for our electronics. The next morning, we woke up for the continental breakfast and were served a delicious breakfast of biscuits&gravy, eggs, and bacon. They also had cereal, muffins, bread, bagels, yogurt, etc. available. The lady who checked us out was very kind and offered her help as well. Altogether, we would come back in a heartbeat.

They provide a heat-and-serve free breakfast like other hotels these days, but it was below average. Frankly anything that was heated was uninspired and not very good. Couple tips: they don't have an elevator, so get a room on the main floor if you can't handle carrying your bags up a flight of stairs. Also, if you're a late sleeper don't count on your room being cleaned. We left late morning, found our room wasn't cleaned by that evening, and were told housekeeping "makes their final round late morning". But they did bring us some towels and apologized. At over $100 per night it's a little pricey but the nicest place you'll find around the area.

There are 2 beds in the room, a phone, a shower, toilet, sink, fridge, AC, TV. All of them in solid working order. There is not a microwave or coffee maker in the room. There is No pool. There is a washer and dryer by the front desk and if you ask nice, the desk lady might call your room when your load needs moving. The "breakfast" consists of toast, juice, and coffee. Recommend bringing your own. There is a microwave in the breakfast area and there are vending machines near the front desk although we didn't explore those options. There is a breakfast place in town, but it's closed on holidays. The grounds were pretty. There's a grassy area in the back that was well maintained. There's some really fun art and decorations inside and out. Very home town. They offered daily housekeeping, but we seemed to be in the room every time they came by (very early! 8:30am!) so we didn't actually get service during our 5 night stay...but that's our fault not theirs. And it didn't really matter to us. The staff is so kind. They have a candy dish up from which they encouraged our kids to take from every day. The ladies talked with our kiddos every time we walked by. So nice and helpful. If you go into this hotel with managed expectations (it's a 1 star level) then you will feel it's fine. I felt safe and clean enough. It's not perfect and needs a facelift for sure- it hasn't been updated since it was a super 8 (the phones are proof!), but it was fine for us when we visited for a class reunion and if you are there for hunting or work, it'll do.

Its located off a side road from the "main drag" in town so i feel like that makes it both convenient location but also more quiet than if it was on a main road. The manager called the next day and then once I got my mailing instructions to her, packed up the item and then took it on her own time to mail it to me. Once upon a time I was in graduate school and doing a lot of work out in western Nebraska -- Imperial especially. On my first trip out, following the habits of my research group, I went to make a reservation at the motel in town, which was full and whose staff recommended I check the Balcony House. I am eternally grateful. My entire research group's enthusiasm for traveling to Imperial improved after this event. Jim and Linda are fantastic hosts. Their home is unbelievably charming and well cared for. I've stayed with them probably a half-dozen or more times (I think I've slept in every room), and each time I am in awe of their business. Fresh coffee and cookies, always. Linda is the most exceptional cook, whose meals make my mouth water thinking of them now. One time I was there, Linda had injured wrists, and Jim was in charge of breakfasts. Those were outstanding too -- though he quickly admitted that if you stayed longer than three days, you'd start getting repeats. There was one time that I was coming to Imperial and they were FULL (stupid hunting season!). I had to stay at that motel after all, even after vowing I never would. You know what Jim and Linda said? They told me to COME OVER FOR BREAKFAST anyway, even though I would be staying at the motel. They are the salt of the earth. I am so very fortunate to have gotten to know them over the years. p.s. Only thing that I didn't care for is the Satellite tv! Unfortunately I just could get 3 news channels, and I found it too difficult to use. I just wanted to either listen to some music or watch a movie or sitcom. Hopefully they can get local cable channels or something else soon. Right now there is nothing for children to watch either.
