The Camello Safari is open every day until 4pm and rides every 15 minutes. It does not matter…read morewhether you are the only one to show up at a particular time slow - if you are there at any quarter of the hour, you pay 12 euros and get to hop on a camel for a 30 minute ride through the natural reserve. I quite liked that, because while on our way we have passed a larger group of tourists, we ended up being the only ones in our time slot and having a private ride with our camel and nice guide. There were around 20 camels on the premises, and they seemed to be well taken care of. They are calm and friendly, and thus it's ok to pet them or feed them a little greenery given by the guide. The tour of the reserve is nice, as it takes you through the inner treks which might take quite a while to access from the beach, and thus especially in the summer heat, you might not get there yourself. These parts of the reserve are not just bare dunes, but have quite a bit of interesting flora and some fauna to check out. All the staff were very nice. The guide himself volunteered to take our pictures while we were riding and was good at taking them, too. I'd say this is a lovely treat not just for kids, but for any animal lover visiting Maspalomas. The ride completes the desert-like atmosphere by the dunes.

Visited: Friday - April 1, 2016 - 1 PM…read more We exited the tour bus and followed our guide across a dirt and rock path. We found several grunting camels kneeling in queued fashion in preparation of boarding tourists. There were approximately ten camels in one train and another 10 ten in the next. The camels were calm but, a face-cage prevented the possibility of biting. A two seated structure was fashioned to accommodate people on each side of the iconic hump. We were instructed to sit in unison to prevent imbalance and harm to the camel. "Our" camel's name was Daniel. The camels rose at the coaxing of the employees. The camels remained in the queued position as we began our trek through a sandy route. Several employees wearing green shirts bearing the company logo, walked along. The camels were closely tethered to the preceding camel to maintain a uniform ride. So closely in fact, that our camel's face-cage occasionally brushed the woman hair preceding us causing her annoyance. An employee exacerbated her condition by hiding behind and gently teasing her hair to illicit a response. Her husband finally alerted her of the employee's antics. We chucked with guilty delight. We basked in breezy, warm, sunny weather in a slow but, steady course. The ride lasted for approximately 30 minutes. Everyone seemed to enjoy a memorable walk with, er, on camels. You have to go with a guided tour and heard there might even be fewer spots to climb to the top as hikers love to take some of the flora as souvenirs. Def try to book weeks ahead. The views are still fantastic from the top of the cable car area. The guided hike starts where the cable car drops you off. It's not difficult and the panoramic views above the clouds are amazing - VERY peaceful. Make sure to stand at the very tippy top (a very small area for literally a few people; everyone gets a selfie from there). On the hike you also see & smell the fumaroles and the lovely, multi-colored landscape (yellow, white & reddish rocks). The guide always tells people to put their hand over a nearby fumarole so you feel just how hot the vapors can be. There's also a museum at the bottom of the cable car area which takes a creative spin on the creation of Mount Teide. You can even buy the comic book "Teide Legend"!

It's quite amazing in person. Also, driving through the black lava is very cool. Lots of twisty narrow roads so I suggest you leave the driving to someone else.

Folks, trust me. Under no circumstances take a tour from this company. It cost me 2000 euro in lost…read moreairfare. They promised a return at 1630 but decided to milk a profit by traveling to the airport and beyond to drop off passengers who were originally packed up at the airport, which we were never told would happen. They dropped me off 2 1/2 hours later than promised, costing me to miss a return flight to the United States. I would've been willing to get off the bus and try to take a taxi back to the hotel and try to rush to the airport, but they would even stop the bus until another stop. no mention made of multiple pick ups at multiple hotels. Here's the story. Pick up is at 8:30. at a bus stop That's all fine. But after the other hotels had to be picked up, the tour didn't start until 10 o'clock. Warning! Went on the tour for half an hour at each location. Tour guide was incompetent and knew little about each town. Couldn't understand her "English". Half of the eight hours of the tour promised were picking up other passengers. I want to stress again that there was a promised a return at 1630 by bus driver and tour guide (asked when we boarded) and had been assured previously by tour booking company. We told them we had to make a flight by 2000. No problem! That's what they said. No excuse for late return except to drop people off at the airport area and even in different areas near the airport. None of these were originally picked up there. IDriver dropped off one of the guides and dozens of guests north of the airport, even though we never original went there at he the onset. We are in Las Palmodos and arrived at 1900. Our flight leaves 2000 from Las Palmas. Went to place we booked at the travel agency near El Pancho Asado, as we were dropped off there on return. Anyone who is reading this knows that you cannot possibly travel 30 minutes to the airport after being dropped off one hour 30 minutes away, one hour before a flight and not having the opportunity to Check out of your hotel and get the baggage. I had spoken to the guide on the bus and told her that all these unexpected and unannounced stops were going to cause me to miss my flight. So .she called Michael, who was manning the tour guide desk where we had booked, on the phone. Her answer was "you can still make it to the airport to make the flight at 2000." Unfortunately, as I told she and he, we still have to pack since we expected to be back at 1630. We must check out at the hotel and catch a taxi. There was no way we could make a 2000hrs flight leaving our drop off from the bus at 1900! How could we we possibly catch a taxi when we are being dropped off at 1900 and check into a 2000 flight? To get to check-in and the gate was impossible. We spoke to agent Michael for his assistance and expected his help. we are booked with the tour company and fully expected his support. Can't review the place because they're not even listed in Google! Michael said, "yes, they were supposed to be back at 1630 but it's not my fault." His tour company had promised we would absolutely be back by 1630; when I spoke to the guide on the bus, she said absolutely, no problem. She didn't reveal that they were making several other stops in different hotels. When I asked him what kind of compensation for missing my flight to the United States (I only asked for a refund of the tour and I would swallow the lost airfare) he picked up his phone and threatened "I will call the police if you don't leave now", Om what grounds? So, he was willing to sell the ticket but refused to back it up. The issue here is not that there was traffic or other issues. The issue was they intentionally stopped at places that were not originally scheduled, as I mentioned m, in order to drop off other people in a greedy effort to make money. Please don't make the mistake I did. I spent €120 for the tour that actually cost me more than 2000+ €120 in lost airfare. Don't be conned by Michael or his company. I hate to write a review like this. But, I want to warn my fellow yelpers, so they are not taken advantage of....
