I wasn't looking for a salesman (which I was getting a lot of in the interview process), I was looking for quality work. Jason has a team comprised of hard worker, a few happen to be family members so that's refreshing. Here's what I had done: - Remove old tub and repair rotted wood underneath - Install a new tub with new Subway tile surround - it turned out better than I imagined - Removed old toilets and replaced them with new ones - Replace old attic stairs and installed new ones - Paint my entire interior - I'm picky with paint and this didn't disappoint. They refer to one of the guys as "The Finisher" because he seemed to be meticulous with paint. Clever :) - Installed a security system (so don't try anything funny). They helped sync the App from my phone to the system as well which was a nice perk. - TV's mounted...and probably a few other things I've forgotten about... They tackled a lot of projects and managed to get it done in about a week (around the holidays no less). They are priced fairly and most importantly do really great work.

If you are looking for a construction company whose price will be comparable to others you'll see, but who will give you that extra 10% of care and consideration to set themselves apart, Brighter Horizons Construction and Charles Aponza are your answer. These guys were amazing. Charles is communicative, gave us a fair price for redoing the siding on our whole house, and stuck to it. And when I say stuck to it I mean not a single. Dollar. Over. I also can't speak highly enough of his crew, which at one point was 15 people working on our house a once. They showed up on time every day for almost two weeks, working from 7AM to 4:30PM in the MIDDLE OF JULY. The loyalty and respect these guys have for Charles show me what an exceptional business owner he is. He encouraged them to take regular breaks every hour, cool off in cars or shade, and drink plenty of water. Someone who cares about their workers this way is tragically rare these days. This reflects well not only on him but also maintains the quality of the work, which is a direct benefit to us. The other quality that impressed me most was the consideration shown to me and my neighbors not only by Charles but by his foreman and every member of his crew. Here are a few examples: -working as quietly as possible in the morning hours so as to minimize disruption to us and our elderly neighbor -neatly organizing their materials and equipment at the end of each day -sweeping and rinsing debris/sawdust out of our driveway at the end of each day -covering our neighbor's cars in plastic to prevent paint spray caught in the wind from getting on them -moving our potted plants into the shade so they wouldn't be scorched by the sun when they needed to work on the places those plants live -taking their work boots off whenever they needed to work inside the house When we prepared for this project, which was a serious commitment of time and financial resources, I interviewed four different construction companies. The reason I chose Charles and BHC was that he showed me that he understood what pride of place means and how important it was to me that this work gets done right because we could only afford to do it once. I'm so glad to have been right in that decision. The work has been done for a week now: siding, caulking, paint, a new gate, and some other minor improvements, and I still walk around admiring how good it all looks (and is!). That should tell you everything you need to know.
