I was looking for a company that was reliable, great communication, trustworthy and that would coordinate the final clean out once the sale was over at a low fixed cost(for clean out). I didn't want a referral who to use to clear out the home but wanted full coordination through the estate sale team. Susan called me back on a Sunday within five minutes of the email inquiry I sent. She didn't tell me what to expect from the sale(dollar wise) as it is unpredictable. We set an appointment for her to visit the house and she was on-time and from that point on the professionalism was stellar. I did call another competitor that was very well referred that never returned calls and I persisted with four different calls to both owners phones. At the very least you expect someone to call back and say they are not interested but with Sterling every communication was instantaneous. Sterling Estate sales completed the estate sale, advertising it, making sure people wore shoe covers to protect the carpets, coordinated the clean out and was on-site when the haul away arrived. I am only writing the review because it helped us out tremendously in so many ways and I wanted to take the time so that another person not knowing where to turn knows who to call. Sterling Estate sales has been around forever and also had many good google reviews. The sale is over and my check and logging of the items sold came right away, and again it couldn't have gone any better. It's hard letting someone you don't know have full access to your home as they prepare for an estate sale. That is another reason I took the time to write a review on Yelp where I tend to look for referrals if I don't know where to turn. Hope this helps someone else deciding who to use for an estate sale. I also liked she is affiliated with a Haul Away company that she is comfortable with and that was a nice flat fee at the end so I knew the price up front and that she used a company that takes care of the home when doing the final clear out. Went to their Estate sale today in an Upscale Neighborhood. Waited in line was second in the door…read more Walked in, picked up a designer leather bag and was told by a woman "that's mine! I'm buying it ". I said it's not marked sold and how could you have bought it, I was in before you? She then told me "everything in this pile is hers!" Again I asked "how?" She said she works for the estate sale company. When I told her that was so shady to do, she told me if I wanted the bag I could have it very snarky. I should have taken the bag. Several other people had the same experience with the same lady. I told the owner of the company and the employee when I was leaving that this was a terrible business practice. The employee got snippy and the owner defended her actions. Not only is she screwing the people who waited in line to buy, but the client who paid them to sell her stuff when she allows her employees to hold merchandise over until the next day and buy at the discounted rates.

Complaining that people brought her unpriced items (thats their job), then complaining about people leaving items on her table. My sister and our aunt kind of watched and listened as we looked at items and she appeared to be rude throughout... we went back the next day and unfortunately found the situation to be the same. If youre considering them as a company to help sell your estate you may want to rethink. The bottom line is that it matters how you treat people, and when you treat people poorly it impacts sales. The appearance that the company portrays is also problematic. the employees dress slovenly and appear shoddy. It feels more like a yard sale. Look at companies like Blue Moon, or Sisters from Toledo and you'll find professional companies who have a dress code, who are friendly and who have a good rapport with the community that they do business in and it shows in their sales. When you go to a sale you don't expect people to roll out the red carpet... but you also don't expect to see multiple people treated poorly and roughly handled by surly employees.
