Being in our late seventies and both terminally ill ,we recently purchased what is to be our last and best home. Too old to do all of the remodeling ourselves ( I have worked in and around the building trades for over 50 years) we no longer are able to do the heavy lifting. We hired Jon Massie, owner of Benchmark Builders, to remodel master bedroom ,bath and kitchen. During the planning and waiting to start we told Jon we were planning on building a guest house on our property and ask if he would be interested. He responded sure. We told him it would be around 1200 sq. ft., modest in features and cost and gave him a photo of the style. Asked the cost of construction and his estimate was $400.00 per sq. ft.., ( 1200 sq ft x $400=$480,000.00) We went to a 2nd, prominent local, contractor for an estimate and his base cost $200.00/sq ft. We added a stone fireplace , granite counter tops, wrap around covered porch and 6 stone columns. His price was better so we contracted at nearly $300,000.00 and 40% lower cost. It was never a condition that Benchmark would have both projects. He only asked to be considered and he was. His website states that he does remodels so I ,with his knowledge, purchased tens of thousands of dollars worth of fixtures and materials for our project, notified Benchmark Builders and Jon Massie that they had been delivered. He scheduled to start the following week and said he would see us than. The following Friday he called to say he changed his mind because we were building the guest house with someone else and he was not going to do the work, he had agreed to do, knowing he could not come near matching the construction cost of the guest house. We had thought Jon and his wife were friends.

Larry answered my call right away and was able to come by within 24 hours to give us an estimate. We ordered the tile, and Larry's tile guy, Chris, installed it. It looks beautiful! My general contractor (who doesn't do tile work) was at the house while Chris was doing the install, and he said Chris was extremely meticulous with his tile cuts, measurements, which tiles he used, etc. We are super pleased with the end result, and I will definitely be using Larry again for future projects. Larry was very professional, very specific about which grouts did better than others and various other details, and very good about communicating with us. We're very happy with our new floor!
