Though you choose and pay for your meal before the movie, just like in gold class they bring it in unobtrusively during the film.

Seriously, could GOMA be any cooler? Well, maybe a little if you haven't discovered the Australian…read moreCinematheque yet. The mix of films screened here is both awesome and eclectic and the prices are probably the cheapest in town (even cheaper for GOMA members so join up now - you get bragging rights and cheap movies, what more do you need). I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Pump Up the Volume but until then I'll pop in each month to take pot luck.

What could be better for a film buff than to be able to see these masterpieces on the big screen as they were intended to be watched. The Bird's really is more impressive this way, even if it will always be somewhat dated now. They often have great programs showing art films or documentaries related to exhibitions at GOMA like the current one on Matisse. However it really is their themes and retrospective programs that make my heart beat a little bit faster. I am so looking forward to their upcoming program Drawn to Screen: Graphic Novels, Comics, and Serials. It will showcase graphic novel and comic book film adaptations from the well known and current (Watchmen, The Dark Night, Ironman) to more obscure or older shorts like Popeye the Sailor with Little Swee' Pea (1936). This program will run from the 6th of January til the 4th of March 2012. Check out the website for the full program and screening dates and times. The Cinematheque is part of the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. Tickets are either free or the prices are very reasonable for the programs and cheaper than many other cinemas around town. You can often buy 5 screening passes which allows you to save even more. You can find the two small cinemas on the ground floor near the entrance to GOMA.

Finally tried My Thai Kitchen tonight and wish I had sooner. I can see this place been a new staple…read moreon nights I don't feel like cooking. We orders the spring rolls which were larger than most spring rolls and were very fresh. Drunken noodles is my favorite Thai dish and it did not disappoint at all. I wish I would have ordered it spicer but I alway go a bit less the first time because you want to be able to eat it and not have a mouth on fire. We also got a Penang beef curry. I am not a curry fan due to the coconut milk but my husband enjoyed it. I want to check out the cooking class some time.

My Thai Kitchen is a favourite among Milton locals. When they closed for the christmas break, it…read morewas as if the locals had made a mental note of the reopening date, because on its first night back in business, there was a long queue of diners keen to get their My Thai Kitchen fix. Even the staff at the pizzeria next door were ordering dinner from them. My boyfriend is a regular there and he was keen to introduce me to some of his favourite meals: the golden parcels ($7.50) and the drunken noodle ($13). The golden parcels (deep fried wonton pastry with a filling of ground chicken, water ceshtnut, garlic, and coriander roots) were absolutely delicious, and the drunken noodle (rice noodles fried with garlic, chilli, chicken breast, egg, red capsicum, coriander, and basil) was much healthier than most Thai fried noodle options because it was packed with capsicum and wombok. The staff also threw in a complimentary spicy soup. I'd say My Thai Kitchen makes Thai food with an Australian twist, mainly because of the extra vegetables and the lighter sauces, which is great if you're after something that will make you feel less guilty about ordering take away for dinner. Dining in is a great option as well; there's ample seating space outside, as well as a large, communal dining table inside the restaurant for big groups. There's also a range of Asian groceries on sale for those who are interested in cooking up a storm at home. I was also charmed by a lot of the original My Thai Kitchen dish names; my personal favourites being 'luv a duck' (duck breast) 'one nation - please explain' (barramundi), and 'tax return' (tofu or tiger prawns). Note: My Thai Kitchen is also open for lunch from 12-2pm, Wednesday to Friday.
