Conrad mastered my band's home recorded and mixed EP. He was very affordable ($100 for two songs) and did it in a very timely manner. He managed to add a solid low end to my mixes, all while removing mud and brightening up the tracks. He mastered them for streaming services, and although he got them very loud in level, he managed to not brick wall them, which was nice. I've also seen Ben work a few times with recording sessions. He has a great ear and can offer great artistic input, as well. He even asked if we wanted him to shut-up and just record and mix, which is a good trait if you bring in your own project producer who's calling the shots. "Best Decision We Could Have Made" Being an all vocal (a cappella) cover band focusing on R&B and Hip-Hop hits of the last 5 decades, we at Pitches Be Crazy (PBC) knew that producing our debut album would be a challenge. Our live shows incorporate technology and hardware that help to deliver a "full band" sound with only 5 vocalist. So as we approached how we wanted the album to sound, we wanted something that would give our fans that same feel of the live experience but in a professionally produced product. After recording all of the raw tracks in our in-house studio, we reached out to Blue Room Production (as recommended by a friend and local artist, Daniel "Yellow Tie Guy" Hill) to assist with the mixing and mastering of the album. From the beginning, Conrad (owner of Blue Room Productions) made us feel very comfortable, but more importantly, very confident that he and his team could meet our goals in producing this unique album. Additionally, the estimated costs were on target for our budget. We immediately signed up and began our journey to producing not just PBC's first album, but Blue Room Productions first project of this kind. Together, we would create something special. After an initial communication and "feeling out" period, we scheduled time with our assigned mix engineer, Devin Spears at the Virginia location of Blue Room Productions. The place is so comfortable that the most timid newbies to the studio world would feel welcome and encouraged to release ones inner "rockstar". Because of the uniqueness in our arrangements and overall sound, we began sitting in with Devin during mix sessions. Although we would guide the mixing process, it was Devin who recommended enhancements that really made the mix stellar. He took the time to listen and understand what we wanted the album to sound like. With very little guidance from us; Devin mixed everything quickly and accurately. After mixing the album, we spent a couple of hours with Conrad at Blue Room Production's Maryland location. A stark contrast from the Virginia location, Blue Room's studio in Maryland felt like you were on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. The space was just as comfortable as the Virginia location, but the vibe was so much more intense; as if we were about to embark on a mission to fight crime or something where in reality we were going to create the "dopest" R&B album ever! Throughout the mastering process, Conrad took the time to explain what he was doing. (This is not something that everyone wants to be a part, understands or even cares about, but I'm a tech guy so understanding the process and technique was welcome.) By the end of 2 hours, the debut album for PBC was complete and it far exceeds what we hoped for. Before partnering with Blue Room Productions, we toyed with the idea of mixing and mastering the album ourselves to try and save a few bucks but thankfully we came to our senses early and made the commitment to outsource these activities. We cannot begin to tell everyone that reads this that the money spent at Blue Room Productions is the smartest investment you can make for creating your produced music. Not only does Blue Room have access to a plethora of hardware and software to get your music sounding amazing, but also has a staff that are highly skilled and experienced and are second to none at what they do. Their awards for being some of the best in the business in the area is well deserved and saved us countless hours (and significant additional costs) had we tried to finish our album ourselves. Our journey with Blue Room Productions was one that we are very thankful for. Very professional studio. I'm currently taking engineering and production courses at the herndon studio and loving it. Everything is extremely hands on and affordable. Staff know what they are talking about and are very helpful in finding out what you want, and how you can achieve your best product. I have been recording music my entire life. I've recorded in many different studios all over the country. I started recording at Blue Room studios in 2015. As soon as the first note came out of my mouth I was blown away by the sound quality. Ive never sounded that great before in any other studio. My first song to reach almost one million plays ("My Baby") was recorded at Blue Room studios in Bethesda. That was the very first song that I recorded with engineer Matthew Shell (who is awesome by the way). The best engineers in the area work here as well. This studio is top of the line!; every plugin... Conrad is such a great host.; very accommodating. Even when I have to break up sessions and move some things around he is open to that. Any problems that may arise he has a solution for it. The setting is so professional yet I feel like I am at home. I don't ever want to record anywhere else. read more

This place is awesome whether you're looking for a straightforward audition tape or to produce a full album - from solo vocals or instrumentals to 10 and 12 piece bands. The techs and producers here in this shop are incredibly professional and super talented and eager to lend their ears and expertise to you no matter if you're a novice or a Grammy-nominated artist. The Bethesda location is great and intimate, but their new spot in Herndon allows for bigger set-ups and longer format sessions. read more

I've been exclusively recording at Blue Room since 2012. Conrad and Devin bring much more to the table (e.g. musicianship, production ideas, techniques etc.) than just hiring a studio engineer to turn knobs. Been able to work with musicians i would not have had access to otherwise and the quality of my productions have only improved since. I prefer my mastering sessions in Bethesda but spend most of my time at the Herndon location since it's closer to home. Since 2012, I've recorded original songs at Blue Room, at both the Bethesda and Herndon facilities. Most recently, at the Herndon studio, I experienced a world-class studio recording experience for a cost that was less than what one might expect for such a high quality facility. The personnel with whom I worked are also first-class at what they do. Ben Green did a phenomenal job as sound engineer (he has been credited with producing several songs that have been on the charts - as in Billboard). Ben's insights were most helpful every step of the way, and throughout the process he respected my musical vision while also offering valuable insights of his own. The supporting musicians on this project, who I met thanks to Blue Room's rolodex of some of the area's best talent, are exceptionally skilled players who learned my material with ease. The Herndon facility is literally a feast for the eyes and ears. There, you will witness your music come alive at a studio that has been designed by an acoustician. The instruments available for clients to use are only the best, including an arsenal of high-end guitars and basses, and a well-tuned drum kit. Recording at the Bethesda studio has also been a highly satisfying experience; that facility has more of a home-studio feel, while the vibe at Herndon is more like that of a "working" environment due to the structural differences. I highly recommend checking out both studios and then decide which is better for your project. Having loved my experience at Bethesda and Herndon, I even brought together the material recorded at the two facilities and named the collection of songs the Blue Room Sessions EP! Finally, the senior mastering engineer, Conrad Osipowicz, took care of the mastering process at the Bethesda facility. Blue Room Productions has made it possible for me to realize my potential as a singer-songwriter, and I believe there is simply no other studio that could have supplied the top-notch equipment and recording atmosphere, as well as the highly talented supporting musicians who would be a welcome addition on any recording project. read more
