I was being discharged from the hospital around midnight, on 5/3/23, the hospital called them, I got a confirmation that they'd be there around 12:45am...an hour went by and I called and asked if they knew about what time my cab would be there, the response " oh honey it won't be for awhile, I have one car and 4 stops before you that are out of town!!" I'm like ok, well another 2 hours passes and the receptionist at the hospital couldn't believe I was still waiting, then I received a text telling me " my booking has been cancelled" I'm a single women and had to walk home from upstate hospital to w.genesse st at 5am!!! I texted them back and told them their customer service was a disgraceful and that I could've gotten killed!! And of course, no response!!! Also, a couple weeks ago the hospital called them to pick me up, I walked out of the hospital doors and smell POT IMMEDIATELY!! The service is terrible I had an appointment scheduled for a 4:00 pickup so nobody had called or left a message by then so I called up Medicaid transportation and they tried to get a hold of them and got the answering machine a couple times and then got a hold of them so we were all on a three-way call at about 4:30 and ironically the lady did not call me or leave a voicemail and she lied and then she tried to call me when she was on the three-way call for my New Jersey number and then act like she had tried to call me and that she had the right number when she never did because she stated it back on the three-way call and it was wrong. My awful experience, in which I waited over an hour for a cab that I had scheduled the day before, made a lot more sense when a friend started driving for them. Of course, if volume is low, you will get a cab on time. Some drivers will rip you off, but I would say most won't anymore, with gps on every passenger's phone. However, the review about a driver stopping and asking the passenger to buy a cigar is true. Also, they have incredible turnover, so you stand a pretty good chance of getting a driver who doesn't really know what he or she is doing. They made a friend miss her international flight (I don't know if she had to buy a new ticket), Blue Star would not give her the ride for free. So she got to pay $40 for the useless taxi ride that made her miss an $800 flight. All of this because Blue Star will do anything to make a buck. Just don't call them. There are plenty of other cab companies out there. If it's an emergency, maybe chance it but never if you need to be somewhere on a schedule. read more

So I was about to bike to a doctor's appointment when the sky threatened to open up. I decided a cab was a better idea. ...boy, was I wrong. I called at 8:50 and said that I needed to be about 6 miles away at 10, so could they arrive between 9:30 and 9:40? I asked how much it would be. I was told $25, and that it would arrive at 9:40. I asked whether I could use my credit card, as I had no cash, and was told I could. Just as I was getting into the shower at 9:20, I received a text that the car was outside. The van, which had no air conditioning and did not have the windows open, became a hot box quickly. The fact that the driver was herky-jerky in his approach to traffic didn't help, and I became pretty car sick pretty quickly between the temperature and his maniacal driving. He told me that he needed cash, not credit, and that it would be $31. I told him that I couldn't do that without a trip to the ATM, and rather than hit one of the many along the way, he doubled back to one that he had passed. When I got cash out, he said that he didn't have change for $40, and that he would have to go get some, so I had to wait while he went and bought himself a breakfast sandwich. This meant that by the time I finally arrived at my destination, I arrived just four minutes before my appointment in spite of having been picked up 20 minutes early. read more

As we were walking through our building to wait outside for the car at 4:11 I received a text asking me if the ride was still needed to the airport. Um yes. I texted back that yes we did and tried calling. No car arrived, no one answered the call. I quickly called an Uber which was luckily in the area and cancelled the ride via text. THEN they responded to say they could still send a car. While we were waiting, Suburban Taxi pulled in to wait for the people who had reserved that service. The normal way to do it. Blue Star? More like Sh*t Star. Not even joking. Like almost everyone else here, I wish there was a 0 star rating. How this company is still running is beyond me. Where do I even begin? Even if you call an hour or a day in advance they tend to arrive extremely late (1-2 hours +) or never arrive at all. Don't even think about calling them during holidays or the end of the semester unless you want to sit around waiting for an eternity. You call them just to check up on the status of your cab and no matter how polite you try to be about it, they'll just lie to you and say "15 more minutes..." or "yeah it's coming" just to keep you off the phone with a false sense of hope but still try to squeeze money off of you if the cab actually arrives. If you're intentionally trying to miss your flight for some reason or miss your kid's school play and want to use a sh*t taxi service as a scapegoat, then I recommend you call Blue Star. I'm beginning to suspect that the qualifications to work for this company is to be an exceptional liar and be a jerk to customers. Just don't call them. SH*T SERVICE This is the worst taxi service I have ever used. I have never written a review, and only made this yelp account to torch Bluestar. Even giving it one star is too generous. I waited two and a half hours for this cab to come before calling to cancel. I called twice to ask if it was still coming, and each time was told it would be another 15 minutes. When I finally did cancel, they were horribly rude to me. Then, giving them another chance a while later (stupid, I know), I called to reserve the taxi an hour and a half early. They were twenty minutes late, so I called and they say "yeah it's coming". Then I waited another twenty-five minutes. At this point I called to cancel. The woman on the phone said, "You're f*cking stupid", and hung up on me. I had to call another cab, and ended up missing my train. This company is so unprofessional it is ridiculous. Absolutely horrible service. My sister and I called blue star the night before to make a reservation for the next day to pick us up at 6am to the airport. The girl on the phone confirmed everything and said the driver will call us when they arrived. The next morning, my sister and I are ready by 5:50am. No call at 6am, 6:10am.... So we call the number and the girl says the guy is on the way. So my sister and I wait til 625 and call again and the girl tells us that it will be another 20 minutes. Furious, I asked her if they even care that we have a flight to catch and then she changed her answer and said they were right around the corner..so at that time we called another taxi service and the guy was at our place within 15 minutes. Blue Star Taxi is the worst possible taxi service in the Syracuse area. They are unreliable, crude, and irresponsible. Tonight, I called for a cab THREE HOURS ahead of time, and at the moment, 4 and a half hours later, there is still no sign of the taxi. When I called the number to complain about the lack of service I was called an "a--hole" by a man who identified himself by saying "I don't give a s--t, I'm the BOSS!" I wish I could give this a zero star rating. We called for a taxi and we were quoted 20 minutes. 40 minutes later we called back inquiring where the taxi was, and we were told it was 5 minutes away. Once the taxi arrived they refused to take us because the vehicle was not big enough to transport our party. We were ensured that a bigger van would arrive "in a few minutes". Another 20 minutes later we called back again, and the taxi was at least 10 minutes away. So we waited ANOTHER 20 minutes and called back yet again. We were told that the taxi driver was "close but lost". They then told us "5 more minutes". And the taxi never showed. Our night was ruined. I've had bad experiences with them but today was by far my worst experience. I called and told her my address. She asked me to repeat it and I did. She called back 30 minutes later with an attitude about not finding the address but that's only because she had the wrong one! I repeated my address again. 30 minutes after that I called and she says, "yeah, we can't find your address." Again, she gave me a different wrong address. Taxi was in terrible shape with many warning lights illuminated, no way it was safe. STOLE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!!! AVOID!!!! $$$$ WORTH OF CHARGES (working with bank to get my money back). AVOID!!!!! I not only had a taxi show up 45 min LATE for my international flight but they STOLE my credit card information. Because we were so late to the airport my husband had to run inside and check our 5 bags in. I stayed behind to pay for the taxi and realized that my husband had all of the cash, therefore I had to pay with my credit card. They had the old school carbon copy card swipe ( which takes an imprint of your card leaving them with the card number and name associated with the account). We were so late and in a rush, my husband was inside the airport trying to get our bags checked, and had already argued with them for being late I had no choice but to pay that way. In addition, it was my back-up credit card I never use unless of emergencies, and at that time it was an emergency. Was out of the country for over a month and when I got home to loot at my statement I saw MULTIPLE charges for over $100 at stores in and around Syracuse-- I knew it had to be them as I never use this card and was out of the US during the times of the transaction. I also do not live in Syracuse, so I know it was not from past transactions. I am now working with the credit card company, who has agreed that BLUE STAR TAXI STOLE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. read more
