I should qualify this review by saying that I went to Blue Trail during a torrential downpour. It was also a weekday afternoon. I believe these two conditions factored heavily into my experience there, and your mileage will almost certainly vary. The road that Blue Trail is on floods easily. If it's raining heavily, and you don't drive some sort of SUV or truck, you might consider going on a different day. Given the weather, I did not use the outdoor range facilities. The indoor range is for .22 caliber only. I bought some reasonably-priced paper targets from the adjacent gun shop. Weekdays are $19 for unlimited range time, but I understand that weekends are a bit pricier because you pay by the hour. Overall, the indoor range is acceptable, but far from ideal. It was a comfortable temperature, and mostly clean, but had the look of a place that has gone many decades without renovation. My biggest problem was that it's generally not well lit. Target distance is fifty feet, with no numbered incremental markings, and no target lighting anywhere except at the full distance (a major disappointment for anyone using a semi-automatic pistol as opposed to a rifle). The target movement controls are old-school, manual hand crank. However, they are easy to operate and appear to have been well maintained. There's no shelving, benches or tables of any kind, which would have been a considerable inconvenience if I wasn't the only shooter there. Finally, the rightmost lanes were quickly starting to flood near the end of my session. The building apparently has some leakage problems. The staff didn't make any particular impression on me, good or bad. While they weren't rude, they weren't ostensibly helpful either. They served their purpose, and answered my questions curtly but informatively. As an aside, I was told to always call ahead on weekdays, because they frequently have scheduled events going on and the range may not be available. I would visit Blue Trail again, mainly because it's a mere five miles from my residence. The convenience factor outweighs the negative aspects I've mentioned. But my recent experiences at other local shooting ranges have left me a bit spoiled, I suppose. I think Blue Trail needs to make some changes and improvements if they are to remain competitive. Place needs a serious upgrade. The food area needs covers over lights . The office needs to be upgraded. I hate everything about this place and the workers are miserable. The only sunshine there is Brittany in the food area. She is the absolute nicest person ever. The rest of you people need to smile and be appreciative for the money we spend there. Junior rifle program is way too expensive and around the holidays you loose a lot of time from the Saturday classes. Waste of money read more

Probably the worst gun range I have ever been to. First you cannot shoot pistol and rifle on the same range, you have to wait for a cease fire, pick up all your things from pistol, run into the office tell them you're switching and try to get to the rifle range before the cease fire ends. When we first arrived we went in and paid for the time at the range and Deb I believe her name was, was extremely kind and helpful, however when we went to the pistol range, it was apparently in the middle of a cease fire so we went out put up our targets, our pistols were in lock boxes inside our bags on the ground keeping the table open. As we are walking back to the range I take my wallet, phone, and keys and put them on the table and I walk to the fence to wait for the cease fire to be over. As we are standing there a range officer, don't know his name comes over yelling "when I say stay away from the tables I mean you stay away!" I responded politely "when did you say that? We just walked in." He replied "I said it over the PA, next time you do it you're gone, you got me?!" in a nasty tone. I understood it's his job to keep the range and everyone safe so I replied "yes sir." Then he replies "you're not the only person here, you do it again you're gone and you're never coming back." Again I reply "yes sir." Now I think I was yelled at for putting my keys down on the table walking back from the cease fire but he never actually explained what I did because I never heard his announcement since we were inside paying, he just yelled. We ended up staying for 30 minutes because it was such a lousy time. Then the next cease fire, we grabbed our target and stood by the fence, the people in the stall next to us stayed and were actually handling their firearms during the cease fire as a different range officer said over the PA directed at them "step away from the table and leave your firearms" meanwhile the range officer who yelled at us is standing behind them and get this, doesn't say a word to them. So me and my friend decided to pack up and head to delta arsenal which the employees there were the friendliest and most helpful people I've ever met. As we are leaving my friend walks up to the range officer and said "I'm sorry for what we did, I just wanted to say we are sorry" and he responds "yeah, whatever." So my friend says again "again, I'm sorry, have a nice day." He again responds "whatever." He was the most rude worker I've ever met. I understand his job is to keep the range safe and all the other officers were great except this one. I wish I got his name. But it's very clear I'll never be coming back, I'll take his advice there. I'll stick with Delta and The State Range. read more

I love blue trail Range it's nice for an older place and those that are calling for an upgrade have to remember it's an outdoor range and has been around since the 50's also it's really good since you're able to shoot any gun outfitted with anything, only Browning 50's can't be shot there. But heading up today to shoot my .17 cal so should be fun. read more

Great range. Safe, well kept. But the store prices on firearms are 20% to 25% higher than other shops in the area. I was told this by the guy who ran the shop because they can't compete with outfits like Hoffman's. read more

i love this place you can go on a weekday pay $30 and shoot all day it is more exspensive on weekend $30 for first hour $10 each hour after that but if you bring two people u pay for one hour each and u get 2 hours if you are using same bench the food is good i have eaten there many times the gun store is a bit pricey but it is a small store so u should expect that there is a lot of room on the firing line they have a lot of rifle stations they also have out door hand gun spaces and a shot gun field which is one price for all day even on weekend the range masters are very helpful they keep u safe but the are not overbearing like other places they have a economy card were u pay $150 and u get $225 worth of time this is worth it overall i will keep going there and hope to see u there too read more

My experience with the Gun Store and with the range was a very good one. I have purchased one S&W 9mm hand gun and a Savage 22-250 from Lenny, who gave me good advice and was very helpful. He took the time to explain all of my questions and also gave me some good tips. The lady in the office also helped me get a year's range time application filled out and was quick to process my application and hand me my range card. As much as I use the range and plan to use it more during the week, it was a good deal. Major complaint--use of the restroom, its a long walk to and from. By the time I get there I do not have to go. Understand what I mean!!!! It would be nice If they had a couple of port-a-potties within the gate. This is the only bitch I have. Everything else will fall into place given time. I enjoy shooting there very much. The Range officers are very good at making sure the range is safe at all times. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT!!!!
