Talked to a nice guy who said they only installed top-of-the-line energy efficient units w/a quote of $2500 and his brother would call Mon or Tues. Monday the brother was sick w/ a sore throat but said he could still install the unit. He was to come out Tues or Wed and when he didn't I had to call him Wed. He said he wanted $3000 (500 more) cuz he had to drive too far. By now I don't care cuz it's been nearly a week. He said he'd come Thurs to check out the old tank and see about where it was to be installed. He did that and said he'd be here Fri to install it and would only accept the $3000 in cash. When he got here Fri I asked my husband to see which model (BYU's, GPM) so I could see what we were paying for. My husband had forgotten to go get the cash from the bank so I said he'll probably take a check or credit or debit card. Or husband could go get the cash while it's being installed. The bank is on the same road 2.5 miles north. Husband came in with a folder took a quick copy of it and meanwhile the guy w/ the sore throat left to go to another job in Bay City. Probably charging them an extra $500 for travel as well. We called the nice brother because now the sick one wouldn't pick up the phone. Nice one said he'd have sick one call. When he did, he bitched at my husband so loud for not having the cash that I could overhear him (his throat must be all better). He said he's not coming back and hung up. Really? That's ok, I'm used to signing an agreement or contract before work is performed and I've never had to pay cash in advance. But it's probably for the best - It is Friday the 13th. Might be good if you live in the area of Sebawing or you're prepared to pay more than a limo for travel. And also if you deal w/ the nice brother and not the dick brother.
