The reviews here seem to be very accurate. I've been to this location a few times and the front…read moredesk staff is either a hit or a miss. The first visit they treat you with kindness. However, the customer service gets worse each visit. My recent visit was horrible all over a copay. I mentioned that I'd met my out of pocket and deductible and didn't have a copay. I'd spoken to the insurance company the day prior to clarify what I'd owe. Always call your insurance company before appts to check what exactly is owed and covered to prevent surprises. Remember your insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company, not the patient and the care provider. After telling the front desk staff I didn't owe anything for this visit, they looked at each other and said no, you have to pay. I told them I didn't have anything to pay and tried to show them my insurance dashboard showing that I didn't owe anything for the remainder of my plan year. That wasn't good enough, they wanted me to pay my copay. It was very embarrassing although I was very polite and never raised my voice or anything but declined to pay something that I knew I didn't owe. The reason being...medical offices overcharge and then the patient waits until the end of the fiscal year to receive a refund check. They finally asked me to have a seat and they'd contact their billing dept on another floor to verify what I needed to pay, so I waited in the lobby. They laughed at me as though I was being dishonest with the smirks and rude gestures stating they have nothing to do with billing! My appt time went by and I was still sitting in the main lobby (they held me up thinking I owed $50). They finally said go on back and they'd continue checking with billing to see what I actually owe. Now to the care I received, I had to remind the first technician who initially checks vision that I have a latex allergy. She was like oh yeah that's right then switched her gloves to cheap vinyl gloves (in the past, I've had to remind the care team to use gloves because I have no clue where their hands have been all while touching my face & eyes. I also question the eye drops they use to dilate eyes since the tip touched my eyelashes and they very well could've touched someone else's eyes, so I'll contact the health dept to see how this needs to be addressed). After this stop, off to the back lobby. Next the room to check peripheral vision and then back to the back lobby then to another room to see the doctor who was in and out like a flash of lightning but Id like to think very thorough since he seems quite professional. I finally went to the checkout desk and asked if the front desk figured out what I owe so I can pay it and she said yes, you don't owe anything. I just said thanks but I knew I didn't and was treated poorly over them thinking I owed a mere $50 copay. Needless to say, I won't return. There's so many places to see a retina specialist that accepts our insurance that surely will be happy for our business with a smile on their face!

Katie gave great care to my mother, as she has Alzheimer's and wasn't the best patient... Garrett and Elise- if I have those names right, also took amazing care of us. Dr. Shirkey is amazing as well. Thorough evaluation and appropriate treatment. I have no concerns at all about the quality of the…read moreeye care I received during this or previous visits. However, at my most recent visit, I was appalled at his uncaring attitude and the lack of professionalism. At the end of the visit, he told me that my eyes were doing well and that he would see me at my next visit. He then left the room. As I was leaving the exam room myself, Dr. Busquets' assistant pulled me back into the room and told me that I was in fact not going to be seeing Dr. Busquets again--he was moving out of state to a different branch of the same company and that I would need to re-stablish care with another provider in the practice. Dr. Busquets said NOTHING to me about his leaving, just "see you next time." I am so disappointed at the lack of respect that Dr. Busquets showed during my visit. I am a physician myself and while I don't claim to be perfect, I can say that I do everything that I can to make my patients feel cared for and respected every time I see them. It's not too much to ask. When I have left practices in the past, I have always let my patients know about the transition. In person, when possible, with a letter otherwise. I have thanked them for letting me care for them, discussed the transition, offered my best wishes for them going forward, and made myself available to answer any questions or concerns they had. It's just the respectful and professional thing to do. Very disappointed that Dr. Busquets didn't care enough about me to tell me himself.

I was referred here and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. From beginning to end as…read moresoon as I left the waiting room I wasn't treated like a human. I was given no information about what was being done or why, even when I tried asking. Every person I saw was rude and brisk, moving me through my visit like I was a number. I was manhandled the entire time. They held my eyes open and pushed my head around without giving instruction or asking if they could touch me and they would get frustrated at me when I naturally flinched. Dr. Busquet was very forceful and used his ungloved hands to touch me face and eye. When his nails were pushing up against my eye and I moved he treated me like it was my fault for moving and that I was too sensitive. I felt like a procedure was forced on me the same day as my first exam there, without any clear information as to what was happening and why. When I flagged that I was in pain during the procedure and I was crying, I was ignored and my head was forced down repeatedly. I don't understand how anyone could continue to go here if they're treating every patient the way they treated me. I've been to retina specialists elsewhere and it was nowhere near this horrifying.
