Having spent a lifetime in textile manufacturing I tend to admire good craftsman ship over design and some of the stuff sold here showcased it well. Staff is laid back and is there to help if you need it though I didn't appreciate the resident dog that followed me around. The seem to know about denim which is a good sign. The interior is more on the functional side and they have tons of inventory. I would say worth a visit for you next perfect pair of blues.

(im fully willing to accept that im projecting the anger felt about my fat dome.) anyhow, they had those fargo hats with the flaps in a few different styles, some simple bowl toques that are in style these days (overpriced anywhere you go in my opinion) and a few caps here and there. all pretty cool and though not all styles agreed with me (we are talking taste wise here not swelled noggin), it was nice to see the variety. for about 60 or so dollars you could pick up a leather belt with an impressive buckle. the beauty of this belt is that once youve picked the right leather, first of all you can mix and match, because the belts and buckles are sold separately, and secondly, you can always come back for an alternate buckle (or buy as many buckles as you like at the same time i suppose). there were some really cool baseball tee shirts with those 3/4 arms that were very very thin and weathered in some way where patches of it looked thicker in material and some parts were much thinner. great shirt, but itd be a shirt id wear once in a while when i knew i was doing something nowhere near related to a game of baseball. the long sleeve collared shirts also stood out to me, with varied styles, nice patterns and fabrics. the jackets seemed not to stand out in the same way. all in all, i enjoyed this shop, will come here again, probably to buy a belt first and i look forward to their continued success.

When I returned with a bunch of friends, since I now had a huge store credit, the sales associate wouldn't even pull a coat for me to try on since he said, "I tried it on the day before". I then told him that I wanted to try it on for my friends so I could get their opinion on the coat. The sales associate then walked away. Talk about rude! I just spent over $1000 in their store and they just walk away?? Are you kidding me?? Luckily I had three amazing friends with me who helped me pull and try on as many coats as possible to find one that would be a decent fit for the cold winter months ahead. This store would not give me a refund. Any other store would have given me a refund or purchased the coat I wanted in the bigger size. I couldn't believe the snarky comments coming out of the employees mouths. My friends were flabbergasted at the attitude the employees were spitting out at us. I will NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN!!!! I rather go to a store like Holt Renfrew or Mendocino where they do what needs to be done to make the customer happy. Holt Renfrew will fix products that need mending and their customer service is way better. Mendocino would have ordered me the coat in the larger size in a heartbeat. This store was so nice to me when I spent over $1000 here but as soon as I wanted to make an exchange or get a refund they couldn't care less. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE AT ALL!!! The Japanese ladies helping us downstairs in the CG vault are super patient, knowledgeable about CG offerings, and provided suggestions for jackets in the right TEI rating for DC winters. Even though I didn't end up buying mine from Due West since we were in a different part of town prior to leaving Toronto, their suggestions helped me narrow down the jacket I eventually bought and love in this weather. They also offer Fusion Fit for petites that we didn't find calling around other CG resellers like Holt Renfrew. The wide-selection and availability in sizes definitely makes this a good spot to get a good dose of goosey warmth.

They usually have a pretty good selection of sizes as well. Like another review mentioned, there tends to be a shortage of staff on the ground. Once you flag one down, however, they tend to be quite helpful. Their Denver Hayes house brand has proved pretty impressive to me. I found that the treads on their brand performed better on my winter boots than my pricey Sorels. I now use their undergarments as a go-to brand whenever I'm restocking, and like to give them as stocking stuffers or add ons for presents. They have a nice selection of solid white basics, and a nice range of colours. I always check out their sales and clearance sections, where I've scored some nice brand name pieces like my Bench jacket at a really good discount. They also almost always have sales and promotions going on for seasonal items. I love their generous return policy. I have never had any trouble exchanging any item over the years. Also, because they're part of the Triangle group along with Canadian Tire, you get all that great loyalty cash at an increased rate. On occasion I've had to turn to another larger location, but in general, I can get what I need here. Definitely a go-to place for basics.

So I made my way to the Eaton Center, glanced at a couple storefronts, and settled on Johnston & Murphy. J&M is an American footwear and clothing company. Think dress shoes, dress shirts, ladies shoes, shirts, and accessories. This location isn't terribly large, but they do have a modest selection, (especially of shoes), that gave me some variety in my search. When I walked into the store, the salesman approached me noticing that I was attempting to match my suit jacket to appropriate shoes. We proceeded to walk through a number of different options and chose a number to try. J&M service has the nice touch of having their salespeople hands-on fit you with the shoes when trying them on. Though to be honest, even though I appreciated this, I eventually asked to just try them on myself. Too much good treatment and my bougie meter would explode. I quite like the style of their shoes in general, and even better, most of them are surprisingly comfortable. At the time, they had a sale going on, which made their shoes even more accessible, but even without the sale, I must say that J&M's value to price point ratio is pretty high. Take walk to most of the surrounding stores and you'll be hard pressed to find shoes of the same style & quality at the same price. If my job necessitated more business casual or formal wear, I would certainly make a couple more purchases at J&M. Come for the clothing, appreciate the service, take advantage of the price.
