The folks here saved my cat's life!…read more My mom recommended Cheyenne Pet Clicic after taking her cats for shots, teeth removals, etc. Even though I live in Fort Collins, where I'm sure there are a lot of great clinics too, I come here because I have been very impressed with how the clinic runs like a well oiled machine. They see a lot of clients, yet you don't usually have to wait very long to make an appointment or to be seen. All the receptionists, vet techs, and vets I've dealt with here have been super. I took my cat, Tar, for routine shots, then later teeth removal and cleaning. Everyone was very nice and Dr. Calhoon and Ashley took the time to answer any questions I had about the procedures. They even gave me before and after photos of his rotten teeth, X-rays, and let me have the tiny teeth they removed. Recently I noticed Tar was hiding, extremely lethargic, eating less, etc. He was in good spirits but I was concerned because he is FIV (Feline Immune deficiency Virus) positive, which means he can get really sick fast. When I called to make an appointment, the receptionist asked very specific questions to assess how sick he was, the nature of his illness, and she made the soonest available appointment. Within 5 minutes she called me back to let me know there was just a cancellation the day before and they could get him in sooner. I wish I could remember this receptionist's name so I could tell her that she saved his life. When I brought Tar in, Dr. Calhoon didn't immediately run a bunch of random tests, he again asked me very specific questions about his behavior, appetite, bowel movements, etc. He quickly ruled out unnecessary stuff like X-rays and did a saline test and blood smear. Within 10 minutes into the appointment and with a relatively benign, inexpensive test he had figured out he had immune mediated thrombocytopenia and anemia (his immune system was attacking his platelets and red blood cells), probably idiopathic but perhaps from FIV. Because the receptionist had thought to call me back immediately and fit me in for this appointment, and Dr. Calhoon was able to figure out what was going on with a simple saline blood solution, we we able to start treatment immediately with immune suppressants. I brought him back a few times after that to get blood tests and I cannot stress enough how close he was to going over the rainbow bridge. Every day mattered. I had to have some hard conversations about when would be the time to consider either blood transfusion or euthanasia. Dr. Calhoon and all the folks here were incredibly kind and patient in answering everything. It was touch and go for a minute there but Tar seems to be improving and living his best, most spoiled life. Tar goes with me everywhere. I moved across country and started my life over with this critter. He sleeps in my lap for car rides, sits in a chair at the dinner table to watch us eat, curls up next to me wherever I am, and won't even so much as let me go the bathroom without him. Even if the folks at Cheyenne Pet Clinic have only bought me a few more high quality of life months, I am immensely grateful I don't have to say goodbye to my little shadow yet and get to spoil him rotten.

The last 8yrs I've taken my husky there Dr, Fredgrill I felt was always rude, my dog had an…read moreinfected wound that he pulled the scab off without pain meds or anything and it was from declawing her upper nail on her front paws as they just kept getting caught on stuff and bad mouthed the vet I had went to for her spay and declawing. Haven't been there for months because of this but had an emergency with my dog and called to see if they could possibly get me in st all to look at her, as she was looking terribly ill and later discovered from another vet we had to drive to that she was leaking fluids into her abdomen by a ruptured organ. So made an emergency call which they said they were too busy to take and best they could do was tomorrow morning when my dog was quite literally dying in front of me and unfortunately led to me having to drive 2-3 hours to get my dog euthanized as they told me I couldn't been seen the day of even though it was an emergency and expressed I could pay all costs upfront no matter the measures they just didn't have the time and my dog apparently wasn't of any importance to them, which is sad considering they're the ONLY VET CLINIC IN STERLING. Sadly the only vet in town and the worst, this is my last resort ever and I won't be taking any of my other pets to them. They overcharge for their minimum effort work and I've witnessed dr fredgrill myself not even knowing what was going on with my husky in the past and asking his assistant for extra help. Their staff they have answering the phone could work on their tone and compassion considering someone is calling as a last resort emergency vet here and they're the only one in sterling. Pathetic excuse for a vet, make sure you have an appointment scheduled if you have an emergency unexpected visit (literally not possible) for any pet cause they won't be able to help you at all. Sad this is the only excuse we have for a vet here in town that charges an arm and a leg for every visit. Don't recommend

We walked in for an appointment for our two cats. We didn't even get to walk fully through the door…read morebefore they were taking us back to see the vet, which was a good thing or so I thought. Everything went fine. The vet came in. They did bloodwork on one cat and had to do labs on the other cat as well because of a possible skin infection or allergies. I was very worried about my pets and I did not ask about pricing which I should have. We were in the office for about an hour and other than the bloodwork. The vet basically said that we would have to see specialist because there was nothing that she could do for my cats except provide medication she thought might help but she was not sure what was going on. She recommended a couple of specialist to pull one tooth that might be bugging my cat and told me the other cat might have cancer so she suggested I take him to an oncologist. We got up to the front and when the person at the front told me how much to visit the medication and bloodwork was going to be I just about dropped to the floor. I had my sick cat my hands. My son had the other cat and they're telling me that I have to pay an enormous amount of money that I didn't even have at that point. I offered to pay half of it and they demanded the full amount and pointed to assign that said full amount is due at appointment, but I didn't have time to see that before we went back to see the vet. Long story short I was trying to figure out how to pay the bill and the staff were awful to me!! The veterinarian never once told me that their blood test and lab work would be extremely expensive nor did she tell me that the medication was going to be that expensive. For 45 minutes, I stood there, trying to figure out how I was going to take care of this bill and the entire time the staff were not helpful and definitely treated me like I was crap. I was literally told to get out of the way because there were other people that were trying to make payments for their appointments. I was asked to call everybody I knew in order for them to help me, which I didn't have anyone to call. I finally said this is what I have and I can't pay anymore today, but I will come back and pay when I get my paycheck in a few days. They took the payment that I could make that day, but were very rude to me through that whole process. I did end up calling and making the rest of the payment and getting the medication that the cats needed, but I will never ever step foot back in that office and not just because the cost is ridiculous, but because of the way they treated me.
