My oldest daugther was 12 and we wanted to have a Bat Mitzvah…read more We were always Reform Jews, but the "big box" reform temples in Denver said we needed to be members for 3 years, plus we weren't comfortable having to disclose our earnings to join, signing contracts promising additional pledges, etc. CBS was welcoming, had low set monthly dues, and even though they are technically Conservative, the services and open-mindedness of the community feel very Reform to us. If you haven't affiliated for whatever reason, I definitely recommend Congregation Beth Shalom!

The services are mostly in Hebrew beIng a Conservative shul. There are summer musical Shabbats and regular Shabbats are inspiring. It's nice to see families of three generations attending regular services. What's more, life cycle events are both family and communal occasions. The Thursday morning service is also warm and intimate. 2. Often, members assist one another with birth, illness, and mourning through meal train. 3. Moreover, Bonai Shalom has wonderful educational programming for all ages including adult education. 4. The staff is warm and attentive to all who enter the door. Call if you're planning to visit! They'd love to know you're coming! 5. If you have social action concerns there is a committee for those issues! It is also strives to be an ecological and zero-waste facility, with its own garden, chicken coop, and goat milk area! 6. Finally, the food is great! Since joining Rodef, we have watched our children thrive in their vibrant Jewish education program and our daughter recently had a beautiful Bat Mitzvah there. Rabbi Kobrin, Cantor Saul, and the entire staff bring an energy and vibrancy to Rodef that few synagogues possess.
