The instructor, Bridget, walks you through the process of distressing your board, choosing your stain, applying it, putting your stencil on, and painting it at the end. She was so patient and kind and helped everyone throughout the room along with the assistant, ange. This class is perfect for anyone, even those who don't feel creative. The staff makes it so easy for anyone to have a good time and leave with great art that they made themselves! We arranged childcare and drove almost an hour to attend, only to find out the only thing you can paint is hats, which is not clearly stated when booking. I don't wear hats, and my husband said he never would have booked it if that had been obvious. When I asked about it, the host insisted it was clearly listed, which made my husband look like he had done something wrong. After leaving, I checked the website again and it still does not clearly say hats are the only option. For $85 per person, the value just isn't there. The photos show far more embellishments and supplies than what is actually provided. The hats themselves look like inexpensive bulk items. Alcohol is advertised as included. We understood that meant limited options since they can't legally sell alcohol, but the selection was even worse than expected. We arrived 10 minutes early to use the restroom and were still told we needed to leave 15 minutes early -- even though we were the only people there at 7pm on a Friday night. I called afterward to give honest feedback and instead of addressing the concerns, the host asked if I was "okay," which felt dismissive. At this price point, customers deserve a much clearer description of what they are actually paying for when booking online... The host/couple that were own/worked there were nice enough during the time slot. Things were still awkward and I didn't want to make my husband feel bad for his effort into planning this date night. Unfortunately, some people misunderstood the owner's decision, made in an abundance of caution, to "censor" a picture over a perceived potential copyright violation before posting it on Facebook. These people took it as a slight on their profession, began sharing their anger on social media until it went viral, and a virtual mob was born. Board & Brush doesn't deserve any negative comments that were posted as a result of that campaign, nor do they deserve the threatened boycott.
