Since my last review Dishfunctional moved from a warehouse type space to a retail strip mall location in nearby Frazier. Their WC space had been sold and was being torn down. FDC and I were in the area so we decided to check out the new digs. The shopping center it's located in is large and has ample free lot parking. The space is bright and open. What we noticed was a change - in the old location there were rows and rows of shelves, with dishes organized by pattern or color. If you were hoping to find a replacement for a broken plate in your pattern, or to add to your set, you could easily do that and chances were, they'd have your pattern even if it was passed down from your great grandmother, who brought it with her to the New World. In the new space there was thoughtful merchandising of items, displayed in settings with style groupings but not necessarily patterns. Saw some patterns scattered in different places, like Kings Crown Ruby Stained goblets. I get it, they compliment lots of styles. Finding 5 of them may involve hunting. The store is lovely and well displayed. We found inspiration and were charmed. It's still a great store, it's more though general shop for amazing dishes and such and less looking for an item in a pattern. In its former format, Dishfunctional filled a need no one else had. Now it's just shopping for cool stuff. We'll still visit, my dish loving heart weeps though for what was lost when some real estate developer decided what West Chester really needed was more "luxury condos" on a semi-industrial area. One other thing - they still have a robust eBay presence so if you are looking for a specific pattern or style, check there. Also Alfred has an encyclopedic knowledge, so ask him about what you are looking for - or if you want to know more about a gorgeous bowl- if he's there. read more

Regina M's review resulted in my visit to this hidden treasure in West Chester. As she noted the folks here are very friendly and helpful. I was looking for some replacement dishes for our dinner service and was happy to find them here at a reasonable price. The selection is huge and well organized. My items were carefully wrapped and boxed. An added bonus was their selection of books. I got a nice bag full for $6. They had a outside collection of items outside for $6 a container full and I got several Christmas serving dishes and decorations. This is a great place to shop if you are looking for dishes,glassware and silverware. read more

They have really great stuff both here and on eBay under "dish fun" https://www.ebay.com/str/dishfun - the problem is not what they carry but their pricing. A lot of their pricing is off base, more along the lines of what one would pay in a major metropolitan city...just not in West Chester PA. As a result, I view them as one would view a high end antiques show - a place to eductae your eye but not necesarilly buy. I think they want to be like Replacements Ltd out of NC and a similar place that was once in Alexandria VA. But even those stores price better or at least more consistently. So in conclusion a reall fun place to visit full of lovely things that are mostly overpriced. read more

Always love coming here! They have great selections and I found some amazing last minute Christmas gifts at a fraction of the price!! I had gotten a precious moments plate with a certificate of authenticity for $4! Incredible! Also they are always having some great deals (check out their Facebook or instagram page!) I once got a champagne wedding glasses set in the original box for $10 with what looks like real marble stems!! All I had to do was buy a book and then each item was 50% off (only $20 for the set originally)!! Also, I have found some great finds on paintings, especially with local artists! I really got into this place when my moms best friend's mother passed away. She used to sell Princess House glassware and had it all over the house. My aunt contacted the owner and he went right to the house, packed up the glassware and took it to his warehouse (talk about convenience?!). I actually inherited the polish pottery and I'm using that as my nice dishware. I love it here because they've always brought out some new items of polish pottery here and there!! I've gotten a huge collection since I've started to come here and definitely at a fraction of the price! Some of the polish pottery could go for $25-100 on eBay (if lucky), but I've gotten them from $4-25!!! Great store, I just wished they were open more towards the nighttime (although my bank account probably thanks them for only being open certain hours!)
