    Blackberries and boysenberries

U-Pick Review: - Berry farm on the other side of 280, there is signage and plenty of parking - Entry fee ($4/person, 65+ and kids under 4 are free) - Berries go by the weight (they provide the baskets) - Berries that they had: limited blackberries, lots of ollalieberries, no - All organic - No dogs allowed They're pretty generous with the weight that you pick, and very friendly. The only downside is that it seems you have to come at the right time - they've had problems with the drought, so I'd give them a break. Overall? Fun and healthy activity that's great for all ages. Glad we can support local farmers too! Tip: be sure to check their hours and the days they're open!

Beautiful place to ride at and they have the biggest polo field I've ever seen in my life and they have the biggest pasture With horses I've ever seen this was the best summer camp I've ever been to in my life despite Hillary the ocean museum and camp Galileo having Internet what branch doesn't have T-Mobile cellular or AT&T 5G according to my iPhone 12 it is really stressful driving in the San Francisco Bay area and this gives you some relief driving 5 miles an hour past horses and it feels like you're not driving in the bay area but it's beautiful

Between the end of May to the end of July our family and friends love spending a morning here picking berries! You can eat as you pick. There is a portable potty by the bounce house, which is located near a shaded picnic table. I recommend you bring a lunch to eat once you've made it to these tables/ the bounce house. Great morning activity with kids, but remember to wear sunscreen. We make ice pops with the berries we bring home.

My 8 year old son has been taking private riding lessons for almost a year now. He started with summer camps and after getting bit hard by the riding bug, continues to ride once a week. When I was originally looking for a reasonably priced stables for him to start lessons I had heard from a number of other moms I trust, that Webb was the place to go, especially for a boy. I know some people don't like the rustic environment, but it's perfect for my little cowboy. I really don't like some of the snobby attitudes I have encountered at other local stables. And if you are going to complain about getting a little dirt on your shoes or flies, Webb is probably not the best match for you. One of my favorite things about Webb lessons and camps is how much work the kids get to do around the horses, grooming, cleaning, carrying supplies, feeding, hoof picking, I don't know why my son can't seem to fill up his dog's water bowl or feed his fish but he'd happily work on those horses for hours! I feel like he is really developing a work ethic doing all of this horse care. I have been incredibly impressed by the women and girls that run the riding program at Webb. It's a total girl power experience! I've never even seen a man at the riding ranch and it really is awe inspiring to watch these young women handle all of the horses and riders needs. I am especially grateful for how much they obviously love their horses and tend to them with great care and concern. I also appreciate that they make an effort to teach my son about horses as they go about their chores. Every week when I drive through those gates and enter the ranch with it's beautiful rolling hills, majestic oaks, expansive fields and slow flowing creek, I think about how this area has changed and been built up over time, and I feel so grateful this land has been preserved, intact for hundreds of years. A true gem of the peninsula. No matter how stressed I feel driving onto the dirt road, my son and I are always in fantastic moods driving out the gates watching the horses graze, seeing the same doe scamper across the road.. such a special place. Quite possibly my favorite spot in the Bay Area.

We came here on July 16 at 10.30am There is berrys but 90% of them not ready to be picked up. I feel like I spend 2 hr of my day in vain. in 1 hour we pick up tiny container . When I asked the Lady at the gate why they invite people in if the berrys is not ready she told me that " YOU DONT HAVE TO COME HERE AT ALL, NOBODY INVITED YOU" She was very RUDE for no reason. When I asked her for her name, because I wanted to include it in review _ she refused to answer. She refunded me $4. May I ask why she was so rude ? If she was in really bad mood for her own reasons it still does not give her right to take it on me. Kind Regards.

Two Thumbs Up for Webb Ranch! We set out early to find the great pumpkin and some family fun and lucky for us that idea brought us to Webb Ranch, a fine horse farm located just off 280 at Alpine Road. We were there in no time. KID FUN: Loved the pony rides and petting zoo, nice sized jumpy houses. Gift and snack shop is small but has a good selection, you can find some shade and a bottle of water too, I had jaco-lantern envy. Kids roam free (mostly, try to keep up!), there was a friendly witch doing face painting, a short tractor-pull train, a haunted mill, a hay ride and plenty of family picture opps. AMPHIBIANS POP-UP ZOO: A traveling Zoo! Unexpected! A tent-like structure housed a number of teraniums inhabited by creepy crawly snakes and lizards (like the bearded dragon, the leopard gecko, the egg snake and a softball sized African mud frog - he could swallow a man's fist), kids (and brave parents) can hold the critters and pet them, a grand time! We skipped grabbing pumpkins in favor of skedaddling down the block to Portola Kitchen bc it was hotter than a bbq on flag day! And your Raiders were on...yes, yours not mine. SUMMARY: Easy to get to off 280, kids love it, has what you need for welcoming fall, plus snakes. We'll be back.

Nestled in Portola Valley just off of 280 and Alpine Road, this pretty little place sure offers a terrific berry picking experience --- just be prepared to pay. You pay to park your car, you pay per person to enter the berry picking area and you pay by the pound for the berries. I'm not sure how often we'll do this particularly if it's going to make my wallet $6 lighter before I even have a berry in hand! My kids and I enjoyed the experience nonetheless. If you visit during the summer months, it gets hot out there! Be sure to take a hat and sun screen!

Nice big place for boarding! It was a bit too far to travel from San Jose and they had some potholes in the dirt roads.

HBE has exceeded all our expectations and our only wish is that we had joined them sooner. In addition to being excellent trainers themselves, the Browns have a fantastic team of trainers (Lauren and Amanda!) assisting them, and wonderful grooms at the barn who take the best care of our horses. Our daughter has learned and progressed at an extraordinary rate and sees the results in both her daily riding and in the show ring. There is a healthy level of competitive spirit at HBE. Everyone is supportive and encouraging... this is really evident at shows when all the HBE riders keep tabs on one another's class schedules and make the effort to go watch each other compete. There are riders of different ages and skill levels at the barn, which is inspiring to all. Olivia is especially gifted at finding horses for her clients. In a previous situation, our search for a new horse took months, and ended poorly. Olivia found the perfect horse for us to lease in record time. The Browns are not only accomplished equestrians themselves, and great trainers, but also they run an organized and efficient business. (anyone who has spent time in the horse world knows that combined skill set isn't always a given...) Harley and Olivia balance the serious and the fun... which makes for serious fun! Thanks HBE!!!

I am extremely upset with the outcome of the whole thing. I paid for 4 lessons: $230 and could not attend two of them due to a very rigorous work schedule. When I e-mailed Bobbi to let her know I was not gonna be able to make it, I was informed that she needed a 24 hours notice if I wanted to cancel the class and then retake it at a later time. This was not explained to me beforehand and I am very upset w/ them, since I paid for 4 lessons and I only got 2 out of it. I wasn't even given time to read over what I signed, because Bobbi was late to the first session and I was simply given a form and asked to sign it. Now, in terms of the lessons themselves- Bobbi probably does care for the horses, since you're given about 30 minutes to groom and tack your horse first and then almost 1 hr on the horse and 30 more minutes to untack and get the horse ready for feeding and bedtime. My problem with the lessons was that Bobbi didn't actually show me anything. The more advanced girls were asked to show me things and then she was just yelling instructions from this little stage area next to the barn. I am very disappointed with the way lessons are taught here and I am also disappointed with the way they do business. I doubt I will ever take classes here again. Or at least not at this farm. Portola Pastures has a lot of opportunities for lessons, so I might end up choosing a different farm and/or instructor.
