Nicely manicured and spaced out park. Hidden gem tucked away in a little town along a river. Stayed in passing but wouldn't mind staying a few extra days next time enroute to our destination with all the amenities and beauty of the area. This campground would be fun for a group of camper folks to reserve an entire cul de sac style area. Good for pets, kids, relaxing or partying at it just offers quite a bit of space for all. Reserving was easy and will be staying there again.

We spend 3 nights at Boardman RV Park. It was clean and the staff was very nice. The fishing in the Columbia River sucked but we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again. The WIFI at the time of our stay was bad. They said they were hoping to get it fixed.

Board man park is the perfect stopping point from Boise Idaho to Seattle. Each campsite is roomy and clean. Restroom/Showers are clean also. They have a laundry facility to complete your stay. The only little hiccup is making reservations, the website a little hard to maneuver through. But overall it's a perfect place to go. Next time through will need to stay a few days longer. Stop at C&D's for your morning Donut fix..

As good as it gets! Pulled in after check-in hours and the camp host was friendly, accommodating and even guided us to the only spot left on the water. He even helped us back in! Park has tons of amenities. Lots of grass, real grass not astro turf. Spots have nice views if you're lucky enough to get one on the water. Full hook ups at every spot, Air Digital TV Stations, and a picnic table. The rules were not too strict, but common for most parks. Loved our stay and will be back again!

This time we pushed off from this marina....well, we didn't really use the dock of the marina, we just threw our kayaks in the agua and hopped in our hoopties. The parking is adequate and the facilities are pretty nice. The water here is fairly protected and away from the main flow of the Columbia; although it is a little slimy and gooey in spots. If you go to the "lagoon to the left, you have some nice still water options. It was interesting to paddle around this patch because every few seconds huge cuts and spashes would happen around you (I assume these must have been bass trying to have me lunch). We wanted to practice flipping ourselves in our crafts and getting back on our rides, so we headed out for the open water of the Columbia. Man, there were plenty of people on the water this day, but we managed to find a good place to dunk ourselves---I didn't really mind since it was hella hot out. There are plenty of put-in options in the Tri-Cities and this is but one, but it was certainly adequate, free, and provided an afternoon of fun.

A friend and I were fishing the Klickitat River on Friday, 9/4. It had been a long day on the river, and we'd picked up a few fish but it was by no means "white-hot". Towards the end of the drift, near town, we saw a driftboat anchored up against the shore. We figured this meant that the fishermen were going after Chinook, and fished on through with our floating lines. Long story short, we hooked a strong steelhead in the whitewater just above the hole, and had to pull over just in front of the boat. We asked the guide -if we could borrow his net, as we'd lost ours the previous day. He not only did that, but hopped out and netted the fish for us. The guide (Ricky) could have been angry with us for fishing through his water (even on accident). Instead he was a consummate professional and very friendly, cheering us on. My friend and I were very impressed at his riverside manners and think it deserves a very strong kudos. I will definitely keep the Evening Hatch in mind on my future trips to the river. It was so hot! I wish I had a walk-in icebox in my kitchen. What to do, what to do? I wanted to jump in a stream and fly fish, but it was too late. But then, I thought of an item on my To-Do List: kayaking. Yes, props has to be given to fellow Yelpers Soyon K. & Chris F., for putting this business on my radar. I've generally stayed away from the river during the summer like the plague---too crowded, noisy (& hella annoying) jet skiers, and much better options a short drive away. But I had to cool off...and get a work out. I went for two hours for $30, which included all the equipment you'd need and a bottle of water. This was all I could go for since they were only open for two hours. I put in at Howard Amon Park. Now, I've never kayaked before. I had hopes of going all over the place in two hours: paddle up to the Hanford Reach, kayaking up the Yakima, etc. I obviously don't know my abilities very well. The person helping me out suggested something a little less ambitious. I ended up paddling upriver to an island off of Leslie Grove Park--she said some people can't even make it there! This scared me, so I pointed my kayak upward and toward the island. Oh yeah, it's a good workout---remember, use your whole body to paddle or your shoulders will explode! I braved a few waves from boats, and a little bit of slimy plant life, but I managed to make it to the island in: 25min! Jeez, so now I had some time to kill. I ended up paddling around the island (tried to feed some snacks to a flock of Canadian geese, but they raised their noses at me). I then beached and had a bite & drink on the island. I then went down river. Now I would have thought going downriver would have been easier, but it didn't really seem so. Whenever you paddle it's a workout--regardless of water flow. So yeah, such a cool summer activity option. The staff person was super nice, and made everything really easy. I would definitely do it again. This would be a great date activity. Maybe I should take a class though. I don't know what I'd do if I flipped my kayak over--yeah, wouldn't want that to happen on a first date!

The setting of the campground is really pretty, and felt quite peaceful until dark. I'd noticed the sign on the info board warning of noise. But honestly I assumed it would be the normal passing train noise we always experience when staying along the gorge. But this location was something different...train whistles were sounded throughout the entire night. No sleep was to be had for me here. Regardless, we prepped to roam the trails that morning. While I didn't have big expectations when we started off along the river we really ended up enjoying the trails. The hillsides around the Deschutes provide a simply stunning landscape. There are multiple, parallel levels of trails from which to choose. We opted to take about 5 miles round trip, starting on the lowest trail and looping back via the next level up. The trails are narrow & winding, with uneven surfaces. On that sunny day it was very serene, with only the sounds of the river and birds. I wouldn't consider using the campground again, simply due to the train whistles. The sites weren't at all private, some level/some not...but all with nice river views. I would definitely recommend use of the trail system, however.
