We just had GroundWorks crew out to lift and stabilize our newly purchased 100 year old house. The…read moreSE corner had a definite slope. They put in 3 piers and it's made a huge difference. I had an old stump in the ground where they were going to be working and they removed it for me and filled everything back in. The piers were nice and clean and you could see that they were of good quality. I'm happy with the results and they have a lifetime warranty. They were very polite and professional and they were quick about getting right to work. I am very pleased. Thank you GroundWorks crew!

The project got off to a good start. The guys who worked in the crawl space were very respectful…read moreof my house--they had to come into my master bath to access the crawl space--and the foreman made sure they cleaned up everything the next day. The next day I went out to check on the progress outside and they had snagged one sprinkler line with the excavator and said they would leave it exposed to facilitate repair. I told the foreman that that line was one of six coming out of the nearby valve box and asked him to be careful of the others. I had already paid to have one location in the area hand dug to protect a valuable tree and would have paid to have the other two hand dug if I had any idea they would tear up my sprinkler system. The next morning I went out to check and discovered that all six lines had been destroyed with long sections of the PVC pipe stacked nearby. I called my landscape guy to come over to see the damage. He took pictures for the sprinkler system guy and asked the foreman to not backfill the damaged areas so repairs could be made. Nevertheless later that afternoon your crew had kind of backfilled everywhere--I never did see the actual structures installed. It was late on Thursday afternoon before the three day weekend and I think the final backfill and "finish" was rushed--they even filled in one of my foundation vents--and debris (damaged shrubs, broken limbs, even some pipe pieces) was all over the place. I know I was asked to sign some things on the tablet that probably waived all this but I believe your guys did a sloppy job--I hope the work that's buried is better done. By the way, I never received copies of any of the documents I sign in conjunction with this project. I asked the original estimator and he said the foreman had it to give to me, then the foreman said it was at the office and would be mailed to me--I have yet see it. And I was never offered copies of the documents the foreman presented on the tablet. I had the sprinkler company out yesterday to do the repairs. They say it would have been a lot easier if they had left the damage uncovered. Now the most economical repair involves running five new pipes from the valve box out to the driveway where the existing lines are intact and completely redoing the sixth zone that runs along the west side of the house--$1,500.

Add top soil and weed barrier. Also, spray weed killer in the beds. OUTCOME - Installed the wrong size rocks (see picture below). Destroyed my yard. Website says "satisfaction guaranteed" but learned that only applies to the satisfaction of the company, not me the customer. Did not add top soil everywhere. Cut corners. I have weeds growing up through my rocks. PAYMENT AND RESOLUTION - After destroying my yard company said they would come in and fix it by throwing down some seed and fertilizer. I called 3 other landscaping companies to get estimates on what it would take to fix my yard and presented them to 316 Custom Landscaping, all the while they were demanding I pay the final balance of the invoice. I refused to do so until my yard was fixed, because nothing says a company will come back once they have been paid in full. LEGAL ENTERS THE BBQ - After providing estimates and agreeing to them fixing my yard to receive final payment, the company engaged an attorney to send me letters demanding final payment or they will put a mechanic's lien on my house (see below for description). At the end of the day, we came to a settlement and resolved the issue without going to court or any liens being filed. MECHANIC'S LIEN - Prevents homeowner from selling or refinancing their house until lien is paid. Also, lien holder can enforce foreclosure on a home to get payment.

Wes Pechin will lie to your face and under deliver throughout your entire project. Every sub he brought on was poor quality and he gave little to no oversight or quality control, leaving us to try manage his crews. He will send you unapproved change orders for tens of thousands AFTER work is completed. And when we finally pushed back at the very end, he quit answering our calls and filed a lawsuit on us to pay the balance when the job was not completed! DO NOT USE!

The first (unqualified) subcontractor was hired to tear apart and rebuild an 800 sqft deck. It was a one-man show that was not informed of my specifications and refused to get additional help for a job this big. When he thought the job was done, he took pictures because he said Pico blamed him for another project and didn't pay him. He then became MIA and was let go as a sub for Pico. The deck had to be re-done due to shoddy workmanship, and it took over a week to get a response from Pico about what happened. Wes was nonexistent during the project and left everything to a project manager who was just a go-between. I became the PM and had to oversee all aspects of the job discussed but never communicated to the next crew. I was presented, after the fact, with change orders that were never discussed regarding price, which turned out to be over $4K more than agreed upon. I was threatened by their lawyer with a lien but did not cave to their scare tactics. I sent a "settlement" check with full documentation of what I thought was reasonable, and hopefully, Pico paid a good sum for their lawyer since they agreed and are cashing the check.
