We have seen this place as we drive towards our camp site and finally decided to try it out. The burger bun is very soft, feels and tastes like it's made from scratch. We had someone else pick up our food but was told they were kind and nice. The place is small and you can miss it since it's right off a busy street. I had the Sunday brunch burger and it was delicious. The bread has a nice flavor on its own, the ham gives it a nice balance with the egg and beef patty. I did like that it had chopped red onion and the egg was nicely cooked. Unfortunately they had run out of hollandaise and it was not put on my burger so I could not give an accurate review hence the 4 stars. I will have to go back and try it again but I'm pretty positive I will love it more. The pound cake was okay and did taste homemade. I'm not a huge fan of pound cake, and didn't really try it out other than that one bite. I would like to go and try the rest of the menu though

So glad we popped in! We made a last minute decision to try this place and it was delicious! Took about 10-15 mins to get our food since it was made fresh, but that was no issue for us. The staff were so sweet and the size of portions was great. The salad was super fresh. It's got a couple tables outside with umbrellas here and there. (Only outside seating as it's a takeaway joint.) please do yourself a favor and stop in! GET THE PICKLES.

When out of town traveling food is always an unsure choice...in Alpine Bock Burger is the choice! I recommend calling ahead if not be prepared to wait. The wait though is worth it. We got the double cheeseburger and special of the day with a slice of lemon sourdough bread. The burger from the first smell is mouth watering. The bread is fresh, soft and just enough crisp. The burger is medium well and juice with a creamy cheddar to top. If you get a double I suggest sharing unless you're super hungry...or you can have left overs for later. I was unsure about the side salad instead of fried but I get it. The fresh spring mix with carrots, cucumbers and tomatoes was a great offset to the burger (simple olive oil/balsamic vinegar dressing). The lemon bread was a simple sweet treat. Since it comes pre packed I would say adding a small container of icing would help if you warm it up to eat. All in all the ambiance of Bock Burger screams homemade with a focus of flavor showcasing their love of food. If you ever drive through on travels or pass by I recommend stopping by Bock Burger Takeaway.

If you are in Alpine, you've got to stop by for some delicious burgers! Walk up to the window to place your order (no credit cards), and find a seat outside the building. In just a few minutes your hot, fresh, scrumptious meal will be ready. Enjoy!

What a cool little take away burger place. Organic vegetables, house made kombucha, locally sourced food offerings. And great staff.

OMG!!! What an amazing burger and best that I have had in years and years. Wished there was a Bock Burger near my home. Each patty is 1/3 lb and ordered a double, and a side salad. Staff or owner was very friendly. Sat outside on one of the 2 tables in the warm evening sun. Yes this is a 5 star place, so get a try!!!

If you don't stop here, you might actually be crazy. These are the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Burgers are my guilty pleasure and I am very particular on when I indulge. Not only are these divine tasting, but they are super fresh with carefully selected ingredients and leave you feeling good (not a junky burger) and satisfied. Opt for the super fresh and equally high quality salad and a slice of cake and it'll be an experience you never forget. A tradition for us for sure. Also, the owners are incredibly nice. Don't miss this far west TX gem!

This is what to look for.

We were looking for a nice place to have dinner while staying in Alpine, TX. This fit the bill!…read more The restaurant is in a yellow house with an "R" at the top. There was an American Flag and a Texas flag flying out front. We walked in and waited for someone to greet us and seat us. After we were at our table, drink orders were taken. When our water was brought out, we were also given some Honey Pecan Biscuits with butter. They were warm and I liked the pecans in it! Hubby & I shared everything. We started with a cup of Jalapeño and Cilantro Soup. It's a cream based soup. I couldn't detect much of any heat from the Jalapeños and the cilantro was pretty much hidden. Maybe a sprinkling of fresh cilantro on top would have made it more pronounced. It also needed to be served hot. We then got the 14oz Ribeye which came with mashed potatoes & green beans. This was a great plate of food! It came out hot! The person who brought it out waited until we cut into it to see if it was acceptable. We've never had any staff person do that for us before! It was a little under done on one side, but the other was perfect. We almost finished the plate. It was delicious! Lastly, we got the Chocolate Bread Pudding Tamale. It comes wrapped in a corn husk that it is cooked in. You remove it and eat the bread pudding. It was gummy in a good way, as hubby described it. It needed the fresh strawberries & ice cream that came on the plate. We really enjoyed our dinner! Our server, Jordan, was very efficient & made it a nice experience! We probably won't travel this way again, but if we did, we would definitely return!

Their complimentary water tasted and smelled absolutely disgusting and the dining room was not clean on 2.15.2025. Christmas decor was still up. The service at the register was okay - a bit too neutral. While we were waiting, the folks in the kitchen were yelling and making so much noise. I'm glad we decided not to stay. So when you walk in you order at the register then they bring the food out to you. The outdoor seating area looked nicer than the indoor, but it was quite chilly that night so we took our food to-go. Red curry chicken = $12.90 (good, but not much chicken and huge slices of red bell peppers) Chicken Satay over rice = $12.90 (probably the best dish we shared) Spring rolls (3) = $5.50 (okay) Shrimp cake (4) = $8.90 (I'd pass on these again) Sticky rice with ice cream = $5.90 (both of my daughters liked it, I passed on it) Sales tax is 8.25% (wow, West Texas) = $3.80 It's probably a really good option on a normal basis, but there is some work to be done. The ambiance is more on the utilitarian side not super classy or trendy but where this place shines is in the food. We ordered the carne asada tacos and the chips and salsa. Everything was clearly homemade. The chips were fried fresh and brought to the table warm, and the salsa tasted like it had just been made. The flour tortillas were also fresh and full of flavor. They looked really good and on the appetizer menu so I got them. Asked for the salsa flight but waiter said the prep guy did not come in that day so they had no salsa (none at all)! So o ordered the guacamole (which he competed). Also got a Jamaica juice that was so large I had to get a to go cup when we were ready to leave. The guacamole was house made but it did lack some flavor. It needed a punch of garlic and some salt. Only thing I could add was the salt from the table. Otherwise it was good and chunky. The nachos came out and they were massive. I was able to eat about 10 chips before giving up. My provider and I said we should have shared. They are loaded with meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico, and pickled red onions. I have no complaints bout the taste as it was all very flavorful and seasoned well. There are not a lot of options for food in town but I would eat here again.

That's a rarity these days, and I'm sure the IRS and local school district are getting all that's due to them. (Not really.) I'm an out-of-towner, and I stopped here for lunch before heading back south. The food and service were good. Not great. Indeed everyone was friendly, and there was enough gooey cheese to float a battleship. The "frozen" beer mug was actually a plastic mug, which is horse hockey. If I'd known better, I would've saved the dishwasher some trouble and just sipped from the bottle. Back to the food... The cheese enchiladas here are divine. They're gooey, and the red sauce is wonderful. The hard corn tacos are fine ... nothing special. Same thing with the rice and beans. -- Mexican rice in these parts has been wet at every restaurant. I'm used to dry Mexican rice. (And I was taught by a Mexican abuela how to make proper Mexican rice.) But I digress. Chips here are marginal. Hopefully, they come in on a truck, because they hardly taste like they are fried in the kitchen. The salsa, while served cold (which is proper) is a little too chunky for my taste, although it has a nice bite to it. The locals eat here. Good for them, because this place is decent. But also bad for them, because restaurants like this one should breed some decent competition ... even in a tiny town such as Alpine. Also, bad for them because this place only accepts cash, which most people don't carry these days. (Yes, we had cash, but the six ladies at the adjacent table didn't.)
