I'm so glad that we caught them open! We had green chili meat burritos. I'll admit that we needed to ask for salsa, but it is house made & wonderful!!! We like heat. Give them your business! It's in a gas station, but one of my favorite type places. It was spotless inside. What a deal for food from a family run business made & served with love & integrity. My S.O. paid $14. for a tiny slider sized "pulled pork" sandwich at the food truck in the basin. Don't do that!!! Before making the big turn south from US 90 towards Big Bend NP, I figured I would top off the diesel tank, and fill up my two empty cans in the back of the truck. Pulled into what appeared to be the only open service station in town, and noticed there was a small counter inside market in themselves as a grill restaurant. Who am I to judge? Besides, the kids were feeling a little peckish, and while we did not want to stop for a full-blown meal and mess up our well planned schedule, I didn't see anything wrong with grabbing a few things for the kids to split in the backseat, and hopefully get most of it into their mouths and not onto my upholstery. I ordered up a few Gorditas, since the meat smelled good, and I figured how do you mess up ground beef and fixins in a thick cornmeal tortilla? I walked back out to the truck just about the time my tank was full, and threw the bag into the backseat to my kids, all snarling like ravenous wolves. I heard the sound of wrinkling and tearing paper, as they devoured the food. One of them managed to say "these are good!" Between bites, but before I could get into verify, they were all gone. Oh well, South bound and down for four days of camping on the Rio Grande. The place was closed up and dark when we drove by again on our way out for days later, but really that's OK. Things tend to happen and the line in the moments that you need them to, so if ever I'm passing through Marathon again, and the stars align, and the only thing to seat my hunger is a gas station gordita? J&G is going to come through, you just watch. read more

I am a local. Local's love this place! It is simple, clean, and the food is great. They are locally owned and operated. They pretty much serve through the lunch hour on weekdays only. They have excellent authentic red cheese enchiladas from time to time, but honestly? I have never eaten any menu item that wasn't just perfect in all ways to suit me. If you are lucky enough to be passing through during business hours, stop in and meet the friendlies while enjoying your meal! read more

If you are driving too fast you will miss this little gem. In fact it is hard to find because all you initially see is a gas station. But you definitely need to stop by and check it out. Had the beef Gordita. Wow, an amazingly thick corn tortilla stuffed with meat and then a compliment of lettuce tomato and salsa. Tasted incredible. Be careful on squirting out the salsa, it is thick and when it does pop out of the bottle it can be an overwhelming amount. But it also tasted great. Service was excellent, on top of everything. Close randomly. Came in at 4 pm and they had shut down even though it said open until 6 pm. Completely unreliable. Not apologetic either. They don't deserve to be in business if they don't care about their customers. Take your business to somewhere that cares. read more

3.5 stars if I could. Clean place. The cheese burger was good and big. Onion rings good, 6 in the serving seemed small. Green Chile burrito not good. Ground beef wasn't seasoned to my taste wrapped in a burnt tortilla. I appreciate them trying to crisp it up but it went too long and wasn't good. Would come back again for their burgers. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Each time we come to Big Bend National Park (thanks to our grown kids for keeping our home and pets safe) we always stop here. This place ROCKS!!! Food is incredible - always made fresh. Darn French fries burned my mouth as usual. Husband had the tostadas which he said were wonderful. Specifically because the shells were fresh and crispy. Hot and delicious way to end our trip to Big Bend NP. Green salsa is wonderfully spicy! Really friendly owners. Lovely, peaceful spot with delicious food!!!! We stopped here because of a rainstorm on our drive from Fort Davis to Central Texas. The clean, peaceful, inviting atmosphere led us to having an early lunch. The tostadas, gorditas, and BLT sandwiches we ordered were fresh and delicious. Great place for an excellent burger or sandwich or tacos coming from or going to Big Bend. Very nice staff and clean facility. Careful of directions as our maps put it downtown but it's on the edge of town on dogleg between main highways. Easy to find if you're looking for gas! read more
