Bodcau Rifle Range is one of the nicest, and only free range I've ever visited. It's simple, and has the "feel" of a community facility to promote marksmanship. The shooting lanes are nice, new, and well maintained, and bullseye targets are available free to visitors. The range safety officers are helpful and watchful, firing breaks are well timed, and the fellow shooters all seemed friendly and safety-oriented.
The pistol range is set for 10 and 25 yard target placement, the rife range is 25/50/100/200 yards. While I didn't use the 200 yard range, it's nice to have available. It's the only public range I've visited that will accommodate distances greater than 100 yards, and only one of two ranges I've seen with this feature.
Good things to know before visiting:
-Free bullseye targets, but no other options, and no other targets/ammo sold
-Free loaner ear and eye protection
-Sign in at the front
-No rapid/automatic fire, controlled pairs seem to be tolerated
-No .22 LR on the rife range--apparently they tend to skip the berms
-Rifles seem to be OK on the pistol line
-No drawing from holsters read more
