What they lack in…read moreprettiness and glamour they seem to make up for in blissful torture that will have you squirming and gritting your teeth in agony/ecstasy as they work the knots out of your feet. I'd been walking around Adelaide for two days and my feet were feeling crampy. A 30 minute session at Ha's was just the ticket to release the tension and revive me after a full couple of days and I walked out (warning: cliche approaching) feeling as if I was floating on a cloud. Time and money well spent! Pro tip: if you have private health insurance ask about the remedial massage rebates.

Has, located within the Adelaide Central Market is by far and away my favourite for convenience, as there is almost always someone available to help you without an appointment. They are also consistant and all of the masseurs seem to be experienced and adept at chinese massage. I have not been disappointed yet! The rule of thumb in these places seems to be that you pay essentially $1 per minute - keeps it simple and you know what you're up for. I can reccommend the head, neck, shoulder and back massages. They will get into your butt cheeks with the back one, but they're all performed fully clothed and oil free so even the modest should feel comfortable. These massages are not for the faint hearted (unless you specify) as there are elbows involved. I also enjoy the akon cleanse - even if just for the gross out factor of seeing how brown your feet can make the water and the foot reflexology seems to genuinely benefit me. Has is an affordable, quick and easy way to take some time out and unwind during your week, I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Obviously there is quite a lot of walking involved in blogging. Surprised? The truth is I visit…read moreevery single venue I review, and I spend a lot of time going through the stores and businesses when I am looking for books, DVDs or Cd's (just for example) and that ends up being a lot of time spent on my feet. I do not drive a car, I ride a bike, so my feet get all the added wear and tear of someone who rides a bike. I use the stairs when I can and I try to get out and kick a ball around every now and then. Add all of this up and you get sore feet! What to do with sore feet? Thai foot massage is the best thing you can possibly do. Imagine being in a very quiet environment with a deliciously calming scent in the air, you sit back after removing your shoes and socks as the firm hands of a very well trained woman from Thailand strokes and massages - sound like bliss? Let me tell you, it is one step away from a bathtub of molten chocolate and a drinking straw. Not as expensive as you may imagine. Not as irritatingly discombobulating as one of those Chinese massages you get forced into (if you have no strength to say "No" or run when they start bullying you into it) seriously wonderful for the feet. If you feel like you need more than just a foot massage you can go whole hog and spring the seventy five dollars it costs for a full body massage, which is beyond bliss. The principle used is ancient reflexology and what they call leg wrapping where you are kept warm with towels and soothing oils are stroked over you. You can negotiate what type of oil is used and this is NOT an adult type of situation, it is completely therapeutic and tasteful. I was given a gift card once and now I think it is easily one of those things that you need to experience before you think twice about it. Really wonderful and worth every cent. Not only great for sore feet but brilliant for an aching mind as well. Just drift away on the bliss of it all for a little while and then wander off on a cloud. The foot massage takes about fifteen minutes and costs twenty dollars - try before you decide the value of the cost, seriously. A foot and leg massage is double the time and the cost, and if you want the one hour whole body massage it will cost seventy five dollars as I said, but you may find it worth much more than that after you have had the experience. You can also get a hand massage or a head and neck massage. You do not have to book a session; you may have to wait a few minutes. If you want to book a session you can. Try it - you'll end up a convert like me.

I had seen other counsellors over the years but this was the first time I had found the right person to guide me through difficult life changes and help me deal with issues from the past. My sessions with Michele enabled me to understand my patterns of behaviour and regain my sense of self and self-worth, as well as providing me with relaxation, mindfulness and meditation techniques to maintain a sense of calm and balance in my life. To complement the counselling, I took the opportunity to also have remedial massage therapy to alleviate the stress in my body. Following my ongoing massage sessions, I indulge myself with a walk along Seacliff beach (a stone's throw away); it's a winning combination that leaves me feeling like I've had a mini-break from everyday life and stress. There is no doubt that Michele has a gift as a healer of mind and body and I would not hesitate recommending her to others.

The prices are good and the massage therapist does pin point the culprit area to work on, which is a problem as that's most painful spot! The front facade is mainly red which is a lucky colour for the Chinese, not so sure about the flashy 'open' signage it's a bit porn shop, but rest assured it's not. The menu listing on the front window reads exactly what is on offer and prices, so if it's not what you're looking for you don't have to go inside and ask. They offer many services from general massage to cupping, ear candling (which I want to try one of these days), reflexology, spooning and electrotherapy. Gift vouchers are also available to give as a gift and may be a good introduction for someone who has never tried Chinese massage before. In comparison to the pop up massage tables in Westfields' a designated shop has more privacy and more time can be spent without the rushed hasty massage. One thing not on offer is private health rebates which can be off putting.
