I was referred to Kate Jones from my acupuncturist because of some complicated physical symptoms I was experiencing which included stomach discomfort and repetitive muscle spasms and tension in my upper back and side. I had explored many healing modalities over the preceding 10 years to address these ever-increasing symptoms including massage, acupuncture, chiropractic treatment, meditation, yoga, gastroenterology and functional medicine. All helped in their own way but never seemed to get at the root cause nor provide consistent relief. Kate Jones did a very detailed and wide-ranging intake to explore emotional, energetic and physical aspects to my experience. Within the first session, we had already zeroed in on a few potential root cause events in my life. By the second session, we had already identified a period of my childhood where I had experienced a physical trauma which was followed in short order by my parent's divorce. With a combination of caring and gentle questioning about this period of my life as well as massage and breathing exercises, I feel like for the first time in my life I gained a legitimate foothold into the root causes of these sensations and was able to dialog with them, which was in and of itself a huge advance for me. She then continued to provide exercises and homework to identify tools to address not only the root cause but also the physical manifestations. Kate is a very gifted and intuitive individual, who was an extremely gentle guide through some (at times) very challenging emotional and physical work. She was constantly curious about my experiences, always very respectful of my comfort level, and always checking in with me about what I was experiencing and open to. I have been seeing Kate regularly for several decades and felt it was time to give her a shout out. Her bodywork goes beyond regular massage. I've gone to many professionals with complaints about this or that ache or pain in my leg, knee, and foot, and I was expecting Kate to do as they did: to just dive in to deep tissue massage.
