Let's start with this....if you're shy, or uncomfortable with your body or having other people see it, sugaring is not for you. If you're comfortable with yourself, however, this is the bomb. Just know that depending on what you're having sugared, it's going to get personal! Despite that, once you relax, this is amazing. It doesn't feel amazing---regardless of how it's happening, you're still ripping hair out at the root. But after going on the regular, your skin will get less sensitive to it. Summer is great and will make you feel super comfortable. She will chat with you the entire time and you'll probably forget that you're not wearing any pants. Summer is an awesome sugarist and I will definitely be back regularly. I just moved from Atlanta where I had given up on eyebrow waxing (irritates my skin) and was getting my eyebrows threaded every month. Couldn't find threading in Charleston, so I tried body sugaring and wow, I love it! I got my brows and bikini done and Summer did a fantastic job. Had a great experience for my first ever Brazilian sugaring with Summer! Shop is in a really cute house which made me more comfortable than some industrial setting. She made me feel so comfortable, we had good conversation the whole time (which made me feel much more at ease about what was actually going on). I had the most bizarre experience here that I feel it's worth sharing to save others the trouble. I booked myself for an eyebrow & lip sugaring as well as a Brazilian. The owner had me lie down fully dressed to begin with. She made small talk with me as she started to put the warm sugar on my face. I interrupted her and asked her if we could talk about how I wanted my eyebrows done before she started. She acted aggravated but agreed. She wasn't understanding what I was asking so she had me stand up and show her in the mirror. I explained that I just wanted them "cleaned up" and not super thin as I had a poor experience in the past with over waxing. She responded that right now my eyebrows are "just two triangles with a tail" and that she needed to shape them. Um okay? That's how I like them? She became very irritated with me for not agreeing with her plan to reshape. I said "maybe we should skip the eyebrows" and she began shouting about having 11 yrs experience and that if I didn't trust her, I should leave. I should have left. I had an event the next day and really needed an appointment that morning so I just apologized and said I trusted her. I lied silently on the table while she worked. Her hands were shaking she was so angry with me. She was VERY aggressive, pressing into my face harder than necessary and jerking my head side to side as she removed the hair and needed to reposition my face. Halfway through, I asked, "is there something wrong?" Mostly expecting her to say "no" and take the hint that her aggression was obvious. Instead she BERATED me about how offended she was that I didn't trust her and she was sorry I was tired from working all night but that wasn't her fault. She got very personal saying my patients aren't allowed to question my experience when I'm treating them, etc.. I had no chance to even respond much less explain how unprofessional it was of her to assume things about myself or my work. Here I am lying completely vulnerable on the table and she is literally shouting at me, hands shaking and asking me if I wanted to leave then. Considering the fact that she had sugared half my face, I wanted her to finish. She worked silently but did make the effort to be less forceful from that point on. When I left, I paid in cash as she requested and she refused to speak to me, apologize or thank me for my business. I am totally shocked with the unprofessional way that I was treated. I'm confused on why I'm not allowed to have an opinion on the way my own eyebrows are shaped? I have never been shouted at by a business owner much less treated with such physical aggression and this was a new low. Beware, business owner, NOT customer is always right here! read more
