He has an amazing way of connecting with the kids and making everyone feel included, which meant so much to us during this transition. Not only did my son learn how to surf, but he also made new friends and started to come out of his shell again. Seeing him excited to go each morning and hearing him talk about his new buddies was everything I could have hoped for. The camp is well-run, safe, and full of positive energy. It truly helped turn a big life change into something exciting and memorable for our family. The kids have so much fun and they gain experience and knowledge about Laguna Beach by doing activities such as: -exploring the marine preserve -riding on a paddle board -riding the trolley -swimming in the ocean past where the waves break -exploring tide pools ...and more. I especially loved hearing about how my child's day went after exploring and experiencing more of Laguna Beach every day. My kid went to this camp for 1 week and it was a lot of sun exposure for them. I'm not sure if they could do more than a week but if it were me personally I would try to do this camp for two weeks atleast in the summer (spread out between weeks) to gain more confidence in these ocean activities. Chad is trustworthy and fun. He teaches the kids "ocean smarts" and I am truly grateful that we stumbled upon this camp. I'll be looking forward to signing up next year (and maybe bringing one of my kid's friends along).

My son is kind of scared of going in the ocean but seeing that he would be with trained lifeguards might boost his confidence. After the first day of being out there, my son couldn't stop talking about how much he wanted to go back the next day. Made me feel so happy he was having such an amazing time. After the two weeks of being there, he wasn't scared of the water, gained confidence, and most of all he had such a wonderful time. I know what I'll be signing him up next summer for.

Daily activities are very organized through out the week!! They took children to explore the beach and see the marine life!! Having the options to swim and fish on top of crafts and activities is a fantastic way to spend the summer for him. As a parent, I appreciate the longer than traditional summer camp hours compared to most summer camp programs that end mid day or later afternoon. The schedule here works best for my work schedule while letting my child feel like he was at a fun camp instead of at the school TLC program on school campus. When summer concludes all he talks about is how he misses it or how he can't wait for summer to come again. Added perk is using the snack shack as a lesson in budgeting and money management for him over the summer!!!! The staff is great and I highly recommend enrolling your child.

When our children reported the bullying behavior to the counselor, they would take no action. When one of our sons had their own behaviorial issue, Ms. Sylvia called my wife at work to pick him up. Because my wife took over an hour to get to the location (she was in a meeting at the time and had to commute), Ms Sylvia decided (as retaliation towards my wife for "taking too long") to suspend our child the following day. When we asked Ms. Sylvia for a full refund for the day she was not allowing our child to attend camp, she refused despite Campco terms that provide if Campco cancels camp for a child, it will issue a full refund. If you have young kids, I would stay away from this place and Ms. Sylvia!

The pace is chill, there's a disciplined, not regimented, routine with plenty of "non-surfing", wholesome fun (projected movies, games, guitars, skit and talent shows, in the lounge tent). You don't need to have any experience surfing, or you can be a shredder. There's always instructors in the water that are willing to coach you or you can be left to your own talents/whims and do your own thing. They bring the boards as well as lunch all the way down to the beach for the kids and instructors to enjoy (it's a bit of a walk to get down there and I assume it's easier and more convenient to bring the lunch and gear to them). The boards provided are just fine. My son had his own wetsuit and booties so I can't comment on the wetsuits. I grew up in Southern California but we live In Austin, TX. I only mention this because we can't surf in the middle of Texas (generally)! Meaning, zero experience is ok here. There's no pressure to be the best, but there's definitely pressure to have a great time! And they do! The Camp Manager, Bart, is a fantastic guy from Australia that my son loves. He and his team of chill "Counselors" keep a chill vibe that makes this great thing happen. Kudos to Jason and his entire team surf/kid enthusiasts. In a week of trying in pretty heavy conditions for a beginner and this time of year I never once felt unsafe or unprepared thanks to excellent instruction and help getting that big 9' board out and getting a big shove to catch each wave. I had only boogie boarded before and swam some in the ocean. And the last time I was on a boogie board was maybe twenty years prior. I'm now hooked and shopping for a board. Ethan was my constant coach. We had a small class so the coach/instructor to student was nearly one to one. Everyone on the staff were encouraging and really a pleasure to be around. All the campers were great to meet and talk with, laugh and surf. Great fun. I plan on attending every year. And surfing as much as I can fit in every week.

And within 2 days he asked if we would sign him up for another week. We agreed knowing that we had a trip planned to Legoland the following week and he would be missing a day of camp. The following week rolled around and on Thursday our little man asked IF WE WOULD CANCEL LEGOLAND so that he could go back on Friday. We were shocked! Everything about this camp is amazing. We went to other camps where the activities were about art, playing etc. But this camp made our kid smarter. He was working on building things, engineering things, using critical thinking skills, team building! I just gave him 3 options for camp and he said "MOMMY, Don't even thing about it. I want to go to Galileo!!!" So yes were are going back! 10 stars for this camp!!!
