Today our family went to killer Dana surf shop, mainly because I wanted to see the big gorgeous store! - Actually, the main reason was for the thrifty ice cream ! I got two scoops, Rocky Road and pecan, both were delicious. They got really cool wooden Picnic tables too. On hot days especially, this place will be extremely popular. The owner is extremely cool. He mentioned that he's bringing back the Doheny Paddle Fest this summer too. He has a passion for thrifty ice cream, paddle boards, the community, Dana point, he's been in business for decades, I remember coming here as a teen. Additionally, The employees were all chill. At the moment, this is the only place that I know of that serves thrifty ice cream here in Orange County. So I was willing to pay a lot. - but didn't have to because all the prices were great. Not worthy, they did everything correctly, such as using the special thrifty brand scooper, wearing gloves, they had all the right cones. Multiple flavors too. It was all perfectly done. We Plan on coming back here Real soon with more family members and friends! When in here because it used to be where the old Rite Aid was. I heard that they left the thrifty's ice cream station inside, and I had to see it for myself. I was so happy to discover it was still located there, so I got a scoop of the classic mint chip ice cream. The retail representatives were helpful, engaging in conversation and being friendly. I'm so happy they kept something that was so important to this neighborhood. I'll definitely be coming back here to do some retail shopping and for more ice cream of course! read more

This is super delayed, but Mark Gabriel helped my daughter and I with surf lessons over Labor Day and he was amazing!! He was encouraging, kind, and patient, giving us tips and getting both of us up on several waves. He also clearly loves what he does and enjoys seeing others get excited about surfing. He knows what he's talking about and he shared all sorts of tips for catching waves. My daughter had a huge smile on her face the whole time--even paddling back out! There's not only some high quality apparel, but a varied selection of all types of textiles. It's not stuff tou'd think might fall apart for a long time. The price matches, so don't expect "cheap" per se, but know that you'll get the bang for your buck. The workers were all kind, respectful, and, also importantly, kind to one another. I had family visiting for spring break and we booked a group surf lesson with Mark Gabriel. I chose booking with Mark after receiving several referrals. He is THE BEST. 4 of us had never surfed before and 1 hadn't surfed in 20 years. He got all of us up and riding waves. We had two teens in our group and he was very good instructing and encouraging them. He made the experience so much fun I will definitely be booking follow ups for my youngest son and myself.
