Premier Inn standard, definitely. Disposal cutlery instead of real. - toiletries are good quality, L'occitane. But why no conditioner in the shower? - soundproofing is terrible. Could hear the music from the multiple bars next door. Will be worse on summer weekends, where crowds will be spilling on the road in front, all drunk and shouting. You won't get a good night's sleep here unless you sleep really late. - illy pod coffee machine... Great.... But no milk! Not even the powder stuff. They do have a full minibar of stuff that you can buy though.... - this is part of the WorldHotel loyalty programme. I'm a WorldHotel member. Top tier status. Booked on the WorldHotel site. Zero benefits. So there you have it. If you're a party animal and want to go to the numerous bars on that street, and this room is at a Premier Inn pricing (it won't be) then this is for you! If you're looking for a boutique quality hotel for work/leisure in Manchester, and a good night sleep, quality brekkie... Probably not. Many other better options nearby - I know as I do 40+ nights in Manchester a year and have tried many.

And let me tell you... if you get an upgrade to a street-facing balcony room... you are in for a treat. And by 'treat' I mean 'view of as much luscious man-candy as you could want for.' Reasonable prices, many of which include the cost of breakfast at the Velvet Restaurant downstairs, free and reliable wi-fi throughout the property, and sumptuous, generous quarters all round out to a fabulous** experience. Be forewarned, the front doors lock after a certain time each night. I assume this is to keep drunken riff-raff out. You'll have to use the bell if you're returning from a night of carousing (which, if you love to hang with the menz, happens to be in stumbling distance... literally) or checking in after quasi-curfew. Minor quibble aside, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more convenient, quality temporary abode than the Velvet. ---- * It's 110% true that most of the world isn't aware of this tidbit. The rooms are quiet, air conditioned and of a good size with all the usual amenities from hot drinks tray to toiletries, comfortable bed, good pillows and free wireless of a good speed. If you upgrade (or are lucky enough to be upgraded) you can also expect bathrobes, coffee machine and a few more nice surprises! The rooms are tastefully and decorated with subtlety: no garish prints here. Breakfast is tremendous! From fruits and yoghurt, continental to cooked all tastes are catered for with this brilliant buffet! I hardly needed lunch after this tremendous morning feast! Consistently the staff were a credit to the chain: all really friendly and willing to bend over backwards for you as a guest! It's a nice touch but having reception staff that remember your name and take an interest is really special in this anonymous day and age! The evening meals are very average and a bit pricier than they deserve - a short walk into the town and you'll find some excellent restaurants that will cost you less. The thing that Novotel excels at is their service, comfortable rooms and the breakfast. Yes, the breakfast. The food on offer is great, freash and of a good standard. All in all, a pleasant and comfortable stay.

My best friend's wedding…read more.. The sun was shining, my nails were painted and my fascinator perfectly in place, the day had started well and was only going to get better. We were greeted by the ushers, taken down a beautiful hallway and seated in a dainty room ready for the ceremony. In came the bride, across went the vows, down came the tears and outside we all went. The Pimms was flowing and the 2 hour photo slot began. The backdrop is so beautiful that it wouldn't matter what the weather all the photo's would come out stunning. We walked down a path that leads to a tiny angelic garden and threw our confetti over the radiant bride and groom, it was wonderful. Afterwards we went through to the sun-drenched marquee for the wedding breakfast and speeches. The food was delicious - a succulent chicken breast with creamy dauphinoise potatoes and veg. As the evening drew nearer a separate part of the marquee was unveiled, revealing a dancefloor and more seating for the evening guests. Late on burgers and fish finger sandwiches were on offer but I had already eaten a slice of cake so the rest of my night had been put aside for dancing. If my friend hadn't got married here it would definitely have been a venue option for myself. Everything about the whole day was perfect. The venue, the staff and the food. I know the bride couldn't have been happier, neither could I.

Rather, it feels like a secret; its beautiful grounds, entrance hall then friendly staff welcoming you to the brilliant, spacious bar and dining room that you can never quite believe are on site. Feeling like a grand but modern stately home, it's a stretch to think of any commercial enterprise being underway. Main dinner courses, as you may imagine, are not cheap, yet remain affordable, especially with a flat-rate applied to the number of courses rather than individual dishes. And if, after one night cap too many, you must leave the car, one of around 15 rooms should be available to you, subject to wedding bookings. Bed was really comfy and I especially liked the Elemis toiletries. Our room looked over Old Market Square. Efficient and friendly service, and very welcoming. Good value would stay again.

Our room was on the first floor and the rooms are numbered as usual but each room is also named after a person who has made a contribution to the city of Lincoln over the years. I thought this was a nice touch, but there is potential to get confused this with guest names. The ensuite room was fantastic and very quiet and comfortable for a good night's sleep. Location wise, it couldn't get more central either, with the castle, cathedral and steep hill being around 5-7 minutes away. The staff were friendly and polite and made the effort to make our stay a comfortable one. You are likely to approach this hotel from Burton Road. Get to the end of Burton road, go right at the roundabout and enter via the gate that is across the street from The Victoria pub. If you look carefully now, you will see directions to the hotel's car park which is in front of the hotel with limited spaces. Follow them and you're there. However, when you enter the campus, you are likely to be tempted to park in the pay and display car park. Don't do that. Based on this experience I would definitely stay there if needed.

Callow Hall used to be a private residence owned by my grand parents, and I lived there as a child…read more It is now a hotel, and Wildhive has done a spectacular job on the latest remodel. Our extended family met for a reunion and spent the week crying with joy at how beautiful our old home looks. The new addition of the glass atrium is a modern version of what the original architect had intended when it was built in 1849, but was never realized. The glass room used as a restaurant is brilliant. It has a classy, cozy feel yet allows diners to enjoy an unobstructed view of the rolling hills and fields dotted with grazing sheep, in a climate controlled environment. Well done Wildhive! The hives dotted in the wood behind is an excellent use of the forest and is cleverly done. We toured one cabin and were amazed at how trendy, modern, and comfortable they are. We stayed in my old room which had been updated to top quality standards. I have never slept in such a comfortable bed in my life. Somehow, Callow has been transformed into a hotel but has kept the feel of a home, which is the highest compliment I can pay. We ate a number of meals during our four-night stay and each one was cooked to perfection. The menu had a variety of yummy choices and we toured the diverse offerings. Five star all the way! A toast to the chefs for their talents. But it was the staff that deserve the greatest compliments. They made our family feel like we had come home and they are a credit to the Wildhive team. Everyone was amazing from the initial reservationist, Jane, to the general manager Jeremy, the bartenders, the waitstaff, the housekeepers, and of course, Dup, the right-hand man/valet/everything else, who became a friend.
