It has now morphed into a serious source for local crafts. There are beautiful hand carved bowls, vases and things like egg holders. There are candles, homemade soaps and decor items. There are also small goodies like homemade fudge and cookies. As much as I love some of the items, the prices are a bit much on most of them. There's no way I'm paying $16/lb for tiny little cookies. There are a few mineral specimens available but nothing worthy of gifting to a true rock-hound. Their flume is covered which is helpful when the weather is bad and you need a place to entertain the kids. I love supporting small rock shops but honestly there are better options in this area for exposing your children (and your self) to interesting rocks. The store was not officially open, but the owner responded to my email. John talked with me at length about what I was looking for, texted me photos and was very helpful in matching the types and quality of products I'd selected online. Though he had no gift bags, he managed to find a sweet way to package all the items then texted me a photo to see if "the presentation" was ok. He also kept the required social distance from my son-in-law during pick-up. He kept a sense of humor, too. Art is a good thing to do in COVID-times. John will help you start or get better. The fossils range from big to small, the crystals of all colors, shapes, and sizes. You could spend hours in this shop checking out everything they have. It was my first visit to Blowing Rock, so kind of what I hoped it would be. One of the fun shops was Final Touch which offered home decor from a lot of local crafters. Prices varied a good bit, based on the items, but they had paintings, and weavings, felt art and much more. The reason for the 4 stars though, for being a real arts and crafty area, I was disappointed to see the stained glass they sold was no doubt imported. The pricing on the stained glass items was far too low for a local to have made it. As artists ourselves, I wish they had kept with the local arts theme, low prices like that take business away from local artists, and give them no chance at competing. In my mind a small town touristy town like this should promote their own citizens and artists.

I found an amazing bag and politely asked if they could hold it behind the counter. The girl (pink hair) was busy unpacking boxes and said "absolutely not, we have way to much on the counter right now I can't make room" News flash:: all that inventory won't mean crap if you can't take care of the customer FIRST. We sat the bag back on the shelf and walked out.
