The name itself gives no clue, and from the outside it looks like a fancy Italian joint, and the menu (in the glass case in the wall) is so faded from the sun that you can't read it (I had a word with the manager, this may be fixed soon). We've glanced in before and seen it gets very crowded at the weekend. We went at 7 on a week night, were the first ones there, but it was about half full when we left. Inside is beautiful. Exquisitely clean, soothing, modern, feels like a fancy high end restaurant, with nary a clue that it's Indian food. Service from start to finish was perfection (and the free liqueur at the end didn't hurt). Mostly your standard Indian fare, but with a few unusual sounding items. Fairly normal prices; most entrees in the £5 to £8 range, with some duck dishes around £10. Decent sized pilau rice for £2, fantastic naan for £2. Everything we had was excellent. Extremely well prepared, beautifully presented, good sized portions. If they impress us as much next time this will probably become our new go to Indian in East London. I tend to find lamb entrees too salty, but this was not. It was simple, good quality meat and well-spiced. Not only was it an ample serving, the ingredients were good - the veggies fresh and crunchy and naan doughy and crispy in all the right places. And for just £2?! Consider me a fan. EITHER 25% off the entire check OR the 1 round of free drinks. I specifically told him that we came into the restaurant with that deal in mind and we could have just went next door with the same deal. The car salesman in him seemed to come out and he continued to talk up his restaurant saying how fancy it was and that he could not afford to give us both. He was visibly getting upset that we would hold to what they offered to us in the first place. I told him that he shouldn't be getting upset with us, but his dude outside that was offering this deal if anything. How preposterous! He eventually turned around to his colleague upset. I looked at my wife and she said they may spit in our food or something. I agreed and we decided to just get up and leave. We left our drinks there and got the family out of there. I normally don't write 1 star reviews. I'll generally give the establishment some leniency thinking that the workers just had a bad day or it was a fluke. Not this one. It felt like they were set up to grab as much money from customers as they could knowing that we were tourists and 1-time guests. Maybe it was a fluke. Maybe their food is actually good.
