As always we begin this review with the bad. It was expected that our warm up area would be adequate to our standards, but we were extremely disappointed in the reality. It was, to say the least, terrifying to practice our backwards marching on a bumpy grass ground, as opposed to the smooth concrete floors that we should have had made available during this warm up. It's almost as if we were set up to fail, or that they were doing everything they could to encourage us to earn a low score. I truly do understand this effort, as I know that our school does pose as a threat towards others wishing to earn the title of first place. Next, to assess this schools environment, we will look to the overall vibe conveyed. I and other performers agree that a "fall feeling" was in the air. Nice trees, fallen leaves, and a peaceful area around our unloading and bus area. The halls were nice, and, to summarize, you could say we were grateful for the richness of this school, but also for the lack of money to make this one of those huge schools you could get lost in. Review is for the football field only. Visited this school during a high school band competition. The football field looks fairly new and is in great condition. The bleachers are as comfortable as bleacher seats can be and the entire area is very spacious and clean, sound system was outstanding and parking was avail on the street and a adjacent school parking lot Great job to the host school for a successful and fun event read more

This is my old high school. I've graduated from here... I've never liked as a teen. Thinking it was because I'm a teenager but growing up and thinking back I still don't like this school. They teach you academics that includes lots of homework. I did a lot of work but can't remember much since it was mostly cramming. Teachers don't have encouraging words. This school is the best there is for students success don't let all these comments manipulated you from my personal stand point. Every school take pride and hard work. The teacher here at Bolsa is very welcoming they help me grow a lot as a person. Friends, classmates, teachers, staffs are always welcoming students to campus. For those who disagree I believe that your objective is bias. Just gotta reach out more there countless resources the school offers is not required but people around you who feeling stressed will find it beneficial to them. There might be a few misleading here and there about counselors taking pride milking students into taking AP classes. That is completely wrong and redundant students were offer to take those classes on there own perhaps into advance placement courses. Bolsa Grande is a very competitive school open to all diverse group of people and they always help me to become who I am today. I say this base off my experience not on any person account of responsibility. School take pride in every aspect of how students reflect and achieve based of results. No matter what students or what criticism I truthfully believe that this school is one of many great high school out there in the district. I graduated class of 2022. My coach had explained to me to start training in case we get a season, told me to go in the mornings to the track and work on some stuff. Got here early morning and was told by 2 janitors that the states on shutdown. Just because I'm an African American descent, I felt I was being wrongly treated. Hearing excuses that everything's closed, that no staff or anybody is allowed here but then why is it all open and staff is here? If I'm able to attend class online, why isn't a track available for use as well with no one there? Not to mention I've seen a teacher using the tennis courts on Saturdays with his friends! But I'm not allowed to workout to strive in my career. I'm just trying to make a future for myself in the professional leagues. But I guess another barrier to overcome in this social inequality. read more

Bolsa Grande High School, usually always has construction going on, be it the streets or something around the school. I come here on Sundays for my basketball league I play in(OCSA to be exact). I really don't have much to say about this, because I went to Garden Grove High School, ARGOS!!!!!! Their main basketball court, is your typical high school court, nothing pops out to be mentioned. If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the worst school. I bet schools in Compton are more well organized than this place. But then again, I heard the Compton schools were just stereotypes. Don't ever send your child here. If you plan on moving into the area and it is a designated school: DON"T GO HERE. Think of this as one of those creepy movie mantras: Don't do it. It'll be the worst mistake you'll ever make. The people are completely ignorant of the fact that you even exist. The diversity is next to zero. The school is about 80% Vietnamese (feels like it) and a good 30% don't speak english at all. It's really hard to meet people as everyone only cares about themselves. The values they instate here are completely ridiculous. It feels like a jail house. I've seen kids ditching and the janitor jumping in his super crappy pickup...zooming after him....trying to catch him? Wow. The things I've seen here....I don't even want to talk about. The food is disgusting, the people are ignorant, and the teachers are just full of mehhhhnesss. There are of course 2-3 passionate teachers...but it's definitely not worth the stay considering how low the chances are of you getting them...with those zombie like counselors that don't listen to a word you say. This was only about 2% of how bad this school is, the details are much worse. I suggest you call the Garden Grove Unified School District and let them know that you would like to have your child go to Garden Grove High School...or if you really care about their education: Fountain Valley High School. You have to fill out a form and do a bit of a 'transfer' process. Trust me. I'm trying to save your life here. This is worse than any school....So good luck and please heed my advice! I guess I'm a bit disappointed in this 'blue ribbon' school. My kids had attended this school for two years. When they went to this school, I must say their grades were bad.. Based upon what my kids advised me about this school, they said that the teachers are not approachable and the school does not offer enough resources in regard to extra help or tutoring. I must have to agree with them because now they attend another high school in Garden Grove and they are doing much better. read more

The teachers are fine. However, my main complaint is towards the bookstore workers. The school does not allow organizations to save money in cash outside of the bookstore's involvement already. So, it is only logical if the bookstore allows clubs to spend their own money [emphasized] however they like. It has been 5 months, and the bookstore has still refused to give me back a reimbursement on an item I spent money on. After all, this is club money, not school money. Whether or not the receipt includes all the valid information, the money was still spent by a purchaser; henceforth, it is only logical that the purchaser gets paid back. At this point however, there is no way I can get my money back. Also, I give a 0 on customer service. I ask one of the bookstore clerks a question, and she yells at me to go back to class before shutting the window? The DMV probably has better customer service. read more

what can i say about Bolsa Grande... well there's many recourse's there just like any high school and when you get to know the teachers you find out there just liking for your best interest. I say the best thing to do is to get involved with the activities that take place like clubs, sports, AVID, and more. Ok to start of with I am a Freshmen at Bolsa Grande High School and so far I love it. I think it is the best school I have been to other than my elementry, and middle school. I say that be cause i was supposed to go to La Quinta but figured it wasn't the school for me. One reason I like bolsa is because it is closer for me to walk to. A second reason is that my dad, a couple of my aunts, and some of my best friends are going there. So overall I think Bolsa Grande is a great school to go to. read more

Class of 2002 - Oh what can I really say? It wasn't SOOO bad, but yes the school is pretty careless with it's students. My favorite teacher (Mrs Rodriguez) one day asked me if I was always a loner. Gee, thanks. The "clicks" there are tight buttholes and will only let in certain people. I was bulled on several occasions which I talked to counselors about. They claimed they couldn't do anything about it. Mrs. Lee in PE (not sure if she's there anymore), made me feel creepy as she looked out of the staff window while girls were changing in the dressing room. I had my cell phone stolen from my backpack in science class and was told from Mrs Stevens that MY backpack would be searched because the bitch claimed I stole her cell phone (I was only taking mine back), I had my shoes, and clothes stolen from my PE locker and thrown into the pool making me walk around in my PE clothes all day, death threat notes into my locker which again nobody cared about. All the counselors want to do is corner you and make you feel like shit if you approach them with a problem. It's serious crap. But I'm assuming that's just what high school is like? All I know is that college was a sigh of relief. If I had a child, I'd never send them to Bolsa. There's gotta be a better way. Best thing about Bolsa was Grandma and cheese rolls. read more

All I see is people here bashing on this high school, I guess as the years go by, the less values the newer generations have and also bashing from other former students who didn't really go to Bolsa Grande! LOL . I am proud to have been part of Bolsa Grande Class of 2004, the wonderful memories we had, Grandma was one of the persons I remember, truly wonderful, helping us all out when things got tough in school. The Luau's that we had, the Gender Feuds, international week, Ms.Shook, Mr.Cho, Ms.Eldridge, Mr.Stanley, Ms.Nguyen, Ms.Carrol. The only one we bashed on was Mr.Zajec who was always agaisnt us lol!! trying to confiscate our stuff. I remember those years that we had a great basketball team, the football team that finally got a win at the end of our senior year lol, There was so much positivity and spirit, My Counselor Ms.Bui was very helpful always, It feels like yesterday we just got out of high school and just next year we are having our high school reunion Class of 2004, I can't wait to see everyone. I had a great time at Bolsa. It was new then and we got to choose school colors, mascot, team name, alma mater, and other stuff. Fun. All the transfer kids were brought to the auditorium at GGHS and we had lots of prep and info. This was in 1959. I drove past two years ago and it still looks the same.
