It was, to say the least, terrifying to practice our backwards marching on a bumpy grass ground, as opposed to the smooth concrete floors that we should have had made available during this warm up. It's almost as if we were set up to fail, or that they were doing everything they could to encourage us to earn a low score. I truly do understand this effort, as I know that our school does pose as a threat towards others wishing to earn the title of first place. Next, to assess this schools environment, we will look to the overall vibe conveyed. I and other performers agree that a "fall feeling" was in the air. Nice trees, fallen leaves, and a peaceful area around our unloading and bus area. The halls were nice, and, to summarize, you could say we were grateful for the richness of this school, but also for the lack of money to make this one of those huge schools you could get lost in. Congratulations to Bolsa Grande HS for earning these four stars. -Marching Band Pro Performers

After years of experience and having to move my children from school to school because of work-life…read morebalance, I feel with deep confidence this was one of the best elementary schools my children attended. Special Thanks: - Dr. Gary Gerstner and prior principal - Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling) - IEP staff - Speech therapist - Dolly Chatterton - Lilia (a name similar to Lily) - Parent/Community Advisory Committee - Parents in action Let me give you some context to compare amongst the other reviewers vs my review as a parent. When my children attended this school, I was a single parent, attending UCI as an engineering student, with a child in the IEP program, and having to manage my children's mother who was later found neglectful by CPS. All of this while working at Disney in customer service and born into poverty. Therefore, I had minimal chances to succeed as a parent, let alone the patience for all the possible mistakes I might encounter from being inexperienced. The Community: The people here are great and the kids are decently behaved. There might be a conflict between children every now and then but they do resolve it. The Parents In Action (PIA) cares about making a difference in the children's involvement with school activities. I've never attended a PTA meeting, sorry. The Staff: I don't like to generalize but they were awesome. I especially recall Dolly and Lilia (similar name to Lily). I put Dr Gary Gerstner and possibly the staff through some stuff with CPA getting involved, like the conflicts between the mother and I. In the end, I wish they knew it saved my children's life. Parent/Community Advisory Committee: The Advisory Committee is another level. I recommend attending if you're a parent looking for advance information regarding how to make the best of your interaction with the school system. For example, I asked what was the best way I can make the most out of the IEP meetings with advance resources. The person who answered my question was highly educated and very prepared. They taught me the steps on making a meaningful impact at each IEP meeting. IEP: The help in the beginning was profound. However, to make the changes necessary to improve as a parent for a child in the IEP, I had to be more involved. The specialists and teachers knew my limitations and made the best decisions available to them. The absolute best advice I received was from Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling), to make my child love reading and there is no limit to how much they should read.

He was entry level and therefore it should have been a department head doing accounting, or the principle. When handed a stack of invoices, he was told to do the accounting. My son had no idea how to go about doing the accounting. When he told the principle that, she said: Well maybe we should fire you. My son looked at her and said, no problem. I will resign. As far as I am concerned, he has a clear workman's comp case. If this is how the district operates with entry level employees, I have to wonder how they treat their students. My oldest son went to kindergarten at a Garden Grove School 35 years ago. We moved because the school was so bad. It seems the district hasn't changed.

Although there were a few teachers that simply did not seem to care/were not the kindest, the majority of teachers there are genuinely concerned and involved in their students' education. Student spirit is emphasized a lot by the student council and staff, so for outgoing students, it's very fun to participate in campus activities during lunch. The vending machines are constantly being filled with more snacks and drinks, so I've never encountered a problem with those. I will say that cleanliness is not Rancho's strong point though, as I often saw litter lying around from lunch and toilet paper sticking to the walls of the restrooms. Other than sanitation issues, my experience at Rancho was good! I'm glad the staff is trying their best to accommodate their students into the new remote learning system.

I feel a little weird reviewing my old high school, but here I go anyway…read more I really didn't enjoy much of my time in high school. The cliques were there, and I felt pretty outcasted as any awkward teen might. The teachers were decent. The only non-honors class I had I could see the discrepancy in the skill level of the students. It was rather shocking. I thoroughly enjoyed AP European History and Concert Choir. I got a solo even though I can't sing, because so many students ended up skipping 6th period. Their track kind of sucks. I like that the school is next to Harry's though. Super convenient.

Alamitos intermediate school is a weird school during my 7th grade year going to 8th grade year…read moreAlamitos kids are literally racist and homophobic like I'm a person of color, I got called the N-word many times and it was horrible. This principles at this school are horrible when I had problems with kids they literally never helped me but when I went to the counselor she literally helped me fix the problem and didn't leave the problem alone until we got along. The male teachers at Alamitos are mad creepy and sometimes scary the P.E. teachers always stare at the girls and favorites like 5 kids. The girl teachers at Alamitos are amazing! This school has so many fights and so many instagram accounts like ship pages or bad talk pages. This school dress codes certain people like if your skinny you won't get dress coded but if your plus size you'll get dress coded. And lastly the homophobia in this school the kids act live being apart of the lgbtq+ community is a bad thing , they think is a joke, they say the F slur and if you don't know what it is google is free, but that isn't the point they just treat lgbtq+ kids horrible. This school isn't the best but hopefully this school improves when I'm in my 8th grade year! (This school deserves 3 stars)
