We found this place via Qype and despite only having 1 review, we felt compelled to give it a go…read more It currently has no front signage ( local councillors debating the price of coffee in the canteen instead of granting this poor bloke planning permission for a sign) so I will point out it is OPPOSITE the main POST OFFICE in Leamington spa. We used Spicy affair as a stop over for food on the way back from Thorpe park and I'm glad we took the small detour off the M40. What a great place. All the food is freshly prepared and whilst this may take slightly longer, it is well worth the wait. At the point of ordering, we were given the option of strength /flavour and spice..something you simply cannot do when using a base dish in a pan. Needless to say the food was stunning, good portion sizes and very attentive staff. We had the Tikka Masala( teenagers :) ) Chicken Nawabi and Dal Taaka( lentils). All good consistency and polished off quickly. The Naan Bread was light and not doughy as can happen in so many Indian restaurants. It wasn't as busy as I would have thought on a friday night but if justice has anything to do with it then it will succeed. Councillors sort your life out. Readers walk past the other Indian's on this street and venture in here. We live in Leeds and have our fair share of quality gaffs up here, none surpass this though.

I went to this place by chance on 14 Oct 2010 and came to know that they had just opened. The place…read moreis quite contemporary and in fact still some work was left to be completed. The room temperature was just nice!!! I thought to mention this as most of the Indian places I have visted before used to be very cold. I ordered Chicken Tikka for the starters and Chicken Madras for the mains. I must admit that the both the item were cooked very well and to my taste. I have been to number of Indian Restaurant as I love my curry but what they offered was just completly out of the world. Will surely go there again and again... will strongly recommend!!! I have given them 4* as the place was still getting ready and the music was not there. Food was superb!!!

Yesterday I visited the restaurant with my old in laws for evening meal . We had ordered dosa and my old relative found uncooked potatoes in her masala dosa. We know mistakes do happen in restaurants- my relative moved the uncooked portions and ate the rest. When the server came to remove the plates we just noted it so that they can correct it for other customer. The guy took it personally went to chef and came back with feedback that the potatoes was rock hard because they were "over cooked" - just bonkers. He also refused to serve us any water while he was happily attending all tables around us , we were just shocked ! We payed the full bill and proceeded to exit the place. Even though I expressedy displeasure not even an apology - we were almost thrown out of restaurant with my old relative. I rally hope our experience was unique and not all customers are treated this way ! Kayal has only gone downhill over the past few visits . Food is bland with very little flavour ! I will never return to this place yesterday was one of the worst restaurant experiences in my life !!!!!

One of my favourite places to eat curry is at Grameen Khana on Ladypool Road…read more The food is consistently good and they offer a range of Bangladeshi dishes that I haven't seem in other restaurants. Chot Poti is a great vegetarian starter dish (although you'll be struggling to eat all of your main course after). It's a chick pea dish with plenty of chilli and toped with crispy onions and egg. The Desi roast is excellent too; the chicken just falls off the bone. The selection of main courses is great. The specials offer something a little different Shobji Chicken and the Chicken Sashlick Bhuna are great as is the Grameen Special Chicken Balti. Our favourite lamb dish is the Haleem which is like a stew with really soft slow-cooked lamb. You can bring your own drinks and there is an off-license right next door. The Decor is contemporary and spotlessly clean. There is an indoor waterfall and a TV that is usually showing a Bollywood film but without sound. The staff are generally pleasant and efficient. They have a remote control buzzer contraption on the table so you can request service, drinks (non alcoholic) or your bill.

Grameen is distincive with it's brightly lit green livery and super fancy water features, giving it a very modern and luxurious appearance. Turns out the place is Bangladeshi and so searching for a bit of authenticity I ordered from the fish menu. After the waiter corrected me on my Bangladeshi pronounciation and warned that this particular dish contained bones, I had the option of going for a more familair choice but stuck to my guns and went with the fish dish, much to the combined admiration and consternation of my fellow diners. A large TV played on the back wall be it muted and the water feature really was quite a novel touch which did attract our eye whilst waiting for our food. The fish dish arrived and was tasty and well marinated, working through the bones, I enjoyed the fleshy bits and we all traded dishes to compliment or query each others choices. What we did notice was that a large Bangladeshi family had take the table at the rear and this was another endorsement of Grameen Khana along with the tasty grub.
