But IMO, it needs some TLC and a facelift. For its size, I think it could stand for some more equipment and newer fixtures. I'm glad this neighborhood has a place for kids and kids at heart to play, yet it is in dire need of a spruce!

They have public bathrooms and water fountains near these picnic tables. There is a large area toward the back of the park which has swings jungle gym in a play area for children. They also have basketball courts a volleyball net with sand and plenty of soccer fields to play A variety of sports. Parking can be quite tricky if you cannot find a spot in there nearby parking lot you could always park across the street from the park. However be mindful of the parking is also designated for the apartment buildings of the gallery nearby. If you park across the street from the park beware that you are crossing a very large and busy intersection of traffic as majority of traffic is coming off of the interstate. Abide by the laws and use the cross walks for safety. My group of friends and I utilize the volleyball net and sand volleyball pit. While the net is not the greatest of quality and does sag it does provide an ample area for volleyball to be played. The sandpit is not easily marked for boundaries for an actual game however there is some sort of haphazard ribbon around the perimeter of the pit. I would recommend wearing flip-flops or sandals if you wish to play in that area. The biggest downside to this park is some of broken glass near the bathrooms and water fountains. Be mindful when children and adults are playing to not be barefooted around these areas. We came across a good amount of broken glass scattered around. Overall the park seems to be used quite often especially on the weekends such as on Saturday and Sunday. One of the smallest yet busiest parks in the museum district, and one of the best hidden secrets. Keep in mind that there are no dogs are allowed on premises, as well as no alcohol, weapons etc. and it closes at dark.

As a VCU alum, I get a pretty decent deal on gym memberships at VCU fitness facilities, which includes both MCV and CSG. While MCV is more convenient to where I work/live and is much less crowded, the CSG is much better equipped. The cardio machines are mostly the same as MCV, there is just a much larger quantity. There is a much better variety of weight equipment, which is very much appreciated. Perhaps my favorite part of CSG is the pool. While there are only a few swim lanes, there is a big open area with a deep end that allows me to get in some pool running. The only other such pool I am aware of in the area is 20 minutes south of town. My biggest complaint is the crowdedness of the gym when school is in session. Even with the large quantity of equipment, popular machines and racks can still be hard to find, particularly in the evenings after work. Additionally, while I love the self-locking lockers, half of them don't work.

The sand pit is lovely and perfect for open-ended play. It has wooden play tables and an unstructured pit. People leave toys there for everyone to share, and quite a collection has grown. The playground has well-constructed equipment, many of which is differently-ambled-friendly. There are also nice porch-swing-like bench swings for parents to chill out on. There are bathrooms that are well maintained and clean. Trails are well maintained and expansive. Plenty of Ingress/Pokémon Go/Wizards Unite stops. Ice cream trucks (plural) visit frequently, particularly in the summer months. Even though it's located in a developed area, Huguenot Park feels like it is the middle of untouched nature.

The kids have a lot of fun and enjoy their time playing. We always have a seat but the bleachers are minimal compared to a high school gym. The bathrooms are reasonably maintained but could be nicer. I'm not sure who works at the gym and who works with the youth basketball league, so I can't comment on the staff or service other than we haven't had any problems with this location all season. There are a few vending machines that could use a few more healthy and natural options. We haven't been in the locker rooms, but they are on-site. I do wish they would open both doors, and not just one side, so people can go in and out at the same time. It's nice that the gym can be split so four teams can play and practice half-court or full-court at the same time. It's also nice that the rim height is adjustable. IMHO, it's a nice location for youth basketball!

I believe Big Bens Gym is run by one of Ben's older brothers David. The facility is very clean and holds AAU tournaments throughout the summer as well as hosts the VAIL Sports basketball league all year long. Only complaints I have are that the referees that the facility hires for the games are terrible most days and the gym can get pretty hot on those scorching summer days but for the most part the temperature is pretty average. There are concession stands most days and David will fry fish so if you're hungry I recommend getting the fried fish sandwich combo because that thing slaps!

I utilized the pool and was surprised that several lap lanes were open at 11am on a Saturday. Only downside is the pool had to close due to a lifeguard calling out. Overall this Y location is very nice and I would recommend. I was impressed with be coffee and snack bar that appeared to even offer bagels. Also impressed with the community boards offering numerous resources and flyers.

I have 2 kids at the YMCA Summer Camp. It has been a harrowing experience. Both of them have been…read morebullied by kids and adult staff members on multiple occasions (one incident a staff member used homophobic slur against an 8 year old, another slapped a ball out of my 10 year olds hand because another child lied about a ball). I have had conversations with leadership and have been assured the issue would be dealt with but it's been an ongoing issue. They have no problem when one of my kids has an off day letting me know or threaten to expel him but it's perfectly okay for them to be bullied by staff and other kids and we can't even get a meeting. It's beyond disgraceful that people working with children subject them to cruelty and only see the kids as the problem.

Here's my impression after the first week: Signing up for membership was challenging. The price we were quoted over the phone was different than what we were told when we showed up to join. And actually we had an appointment with the membership director and he was on vacation and everyone from membership was gone so one of the front desk attendants gave us a tour. They also gave us a pass to the weekend to make up for the debacle. When we showed up on Saturday we met with someone in membership and that's when the pricing changed because what we were quoted only covered 3 people. So we paid extra for the fourth and our fifth couldn't join because the cost of their membership was too high and she is a student (my daughter). She is 26 so that's why she has to have her own membership. I get it. Also the hot tub and rooftop pool is extra, so be aware. They also have a Recovery area that includes infrared saunas and cold plunge, plus a variety of other equipment. That's an extra charge too, but the first month is free so you can check it out. Other than that miscommunication, it's been pretty seamless. Every staff member I've encountered has been professional and super helpful. Kudos to the center for hiring great people. Any kind of exercise you could possibly want to do is under the roof of acac or at one of their other facilities. The classes and yoga studio is top notch. I've done a few classes and also yoga, signed up for the egym and have used the hot tub, sauna, plunge, etc., and it's all been good. It's only a week in and I feel right at home and motivated to work out every day. I still have so much more to try! I love that I can do something different everyday so I don't get bored. Joining acac costs more but so far it's worth it for us.
