Layden's Supermarket - A Meat Lover's Paradise!…read more I would highly recommend Layden's Supermarket to anyone looking for top-quality meats and a unique shopping experience. They have the best steaks, chicken, pork chops, and sausages around always fresh and packed with flavor. One of the things I love most is that they'll cut steaks, luncheon meat, and ham exactly to your liking. making sure you get just what you want. Their prices are a great value for the quality you're getting, and the selection is so much better than anywhere else I've shopped. Besides the incredible meat choices, Layden's also offers some grocery staples, homemade candy, sodas, and even smoked whole ham legs perfect for anyone who enjoys a little something extra. Every time I visit North Carolina, I make it a point to stop by Layden's and stock up on as much meat as I can fit in my freezer even if it means driving six to eight hours drive! It's always worth the trip and the money. And let me tell you, the chicken drumsticks are so big, I can only eat one at a time! If you're a fan of fresh, flavorful meats and love discovering specialty grocery items, Layden's Supermarket is absolutely the place to go. The place is so clean and the staff and employees are so friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much from us WV.

The best place to purchase Ghost Pepper sausage and real country hams. It's a 600 mile trip one way for us but worth the trip.

I love their food. Had a bit of everything here from their tacos, specials, enchiladas, fajitas,…read moreand more and I'm never disappointed. This is authentic Mexican food. Spanish is spoken here and when I walk out I know a little bit more Spanish than I did coming in. The servers are super friendly and love their decor inside. Menus are under the glass which is on the table so it's easy to order. Their beans are the best in town hands down and yes that rhymes. You will see me here a lot and until next time.....

On Fridays, we eat tacos…read more Somewhere during the pandemic, my friend group decided we wanted to try birria tacos. We'd heard that there was one place in town where we could get them, which came highly recommended by a friend who'd been here. The caveat was that the birria tacos are only served on Fridays. So we planned to do birria tacos on Friday. We came here and got 4 orders of birria tacos. I added an agua de Jamaica to my order. While we waited, I perused the adjacent grocery store and purchased some Mexican Coca-Colas, conchas, and a box of mango Pulparindo. Soon enough, our order was ready. We took our goodies back to my place, turned on a good movie, and partook in our feast. These tacos are full of flavor. The meat is tender, and the cheese was perfectly melted inside the consome-soaked tortillas. The meal is served with pickled onion and habanero pepper, fresh cilantro and onions, limes, and a house-made hot sauce. Of course, in true birria fashion, there is a cup of hot consome in which to dunk the tacos. The freshness of the condiments perfectly compliments the fatty richness of the tacos. Jamaica is my favorite agua fresca and always reminds me of my favorite Caribbean drink, Sorrel, as they are both made from the hibiscus flower. Though Mexican Agua de Jamaica has a different flavor profile than Sorrel, it always fills me with a sense of comfort and nostalgia. Their Jamaica is delicious and comes in a huge cup, so you always get enough. Since this first visit, we've made taco Fridays a tradition. I always order the birria tacos and agua de Jamaica. I've also tried lots of their other tacos (asada, chicharron, pastor, lengua, etc.) as an add-on to my birria order, but the birria outshines them all. These tacos are absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend adding them to your Friday takeout tradition. Be sure to peruse the pastry case for a fresh dessert to finish your meal and pick up some other treats along the way.
