When you walk in you are hit with the amazing bbq smell so real smoking is going on in the back and after carefully looking over the menu with all the good items I opted for the Deacon which is smoked brisket, bacon, cheddar cheese which comes with frys. I personally didn't like any of the bbq sauces on the table which is ok because I like naked smoked meats. The brisket sandwich was very good on a fresh roll with melty cheddar cheese and if a couple onion rings were topped this would be next level for the sandwich. The brisket was tender but not melt in your with a nice pink smoke ring but way too lean, see my pictures because I would have like to have a little more fat for flavor. The frys looked house cut and and pretty good. The rib platter at the other looked pretty F'n good by the way. Overall this was a nice place to get some bbq in downtown Monroe but be prepared to wait for a table at peak times because it's very popular.

Normally when I order hashbrowns I ask for them to be fried extra crispy because I feel it adds to the flavor. I forgot to do this, but I didn't need to. They weren't as cooked as I prefer, but they had a great flavor that, when mixed with either the eggs or gravy, were absolutely delightful. My girlfriend ordered the eggs and hashbrowns and was impressed by the hashbrowns before I even had a chance to taste them. They were great. With that being said, remember this is a small-town family restaurant. The food is what you're going to get at these locations. This is not a Michelin star restaurant; let alone one located in a large city. It's small-town awesomeness. It's a slice of Americana. It's pure nostalgia. You get a good meal, at a decent price.
