Food is awful. All of it. Place is dirty and drab. I'd really hate to see inside the kitchen

A Family in distress. This place is family owned and has a captive audience with a large community of Lake Summset, an adjacent Bar, an adjacent Bowling Alley and the surrounding Durand, Davis, Rock City area. Their food is awful with a few exceptions. Every few years for 20 years we give it a try and almost cry with how poorly it operates. This is an example of owners feeling that nothing is broken and we do it our way. While other establishments have waiting lines, Lakeside which sits directly across from the in and out gate of a large active community, sits with empty tables during peak times. What a missed opportunity. The food was cold and very tasteless. The Pizza used to be rather good. Not no more.We now order from Durands Ciminos even though it's 10 minutes farther. We're hoping some day an experienced chef or experienced restaurant entrepreneur buys the business and opens the Goldmine that this place could be. This area has been screaming for a Supper Club or eating place that matches the areas growing Lake Community. Don't waste your time getting out of your car to check it out. A waste of money, time and an attack on your stomach. read more

Friendly clean and value for your dollar. My only suggestion is curbside appeal, needs a bit of landscaping around front entrance.

I went to Lakeside tonight with my family. We've ordered the Chicago deep dish pizza many times before, and we have always really liked it. We ordered a Chicago deep dish pizza with mushrooms and sausage. When it came out, it had sausage and pepperoni on it. We didn't really care about that at all. We bit into it, and noticed there wasn't any sauce on it at all. A family member went up and asked for sauce on the side to dip it in (she just thought she couldn't taste the sauce. Didn't realize there wasn't any on it). They gave her 4 small cups of sauce that were ice cold and had her pay $1 each sauce. I thought that was pretty ridiculous. I went up to the possible manager and talked with him about the wrong toppings, no sauce, and cold sauce on the side. I am not the type to complain at a restaurant. The manager tried to tell me that the sauce is on there, I just couldn't see it. He also said that the sauce goes on top of the cheese on a Chicago deep dish. There was absolutely no way there was any sauce on the pizza. He said that they didn't put sauce on it, because he thought we wanted to dip the pizza in sauce on the side that we ordered, but we didn't even order the sauce on the side until after the pizza came out and we realized how dry it was (aka zero sauce on it). He offered to make me a thin crust pizza. I declined. He then gave me a $17 gift card to Lakeside. He did try to make it right. I didn't complain to get something free out of it. I just was very frustrated, and I just wish they would have been honest right from the start and not made 2837633 excuses, along with talking in circles. I appreciate the gift card. I gave it to my uncle. We won't be going back though. I have included two pictures of our pizza and one off of their Facebook page (the pic of the whole pizza) that definitely is a Chicago deep dish and definitely does not have sauce on top either. ‍ like they said it would. read more

I came to the Lakeside Inn to have lunch with the Bible Babes, a lovely group of older ladies who hold a bible study on Tuesday mornings in the adjacent Lake Summerset community. You could throw a rock from the parking lot of this restaurant and hit one of their entrance gates, so it is definitely a convenient lunch spot for anyone who lives on the lake. The decor screams middle America at you with its neutral walls, tables, and carpets, the plum colored booths, and the hunter green chairs with maroon seat covers. Let's just say it's obvious this is Illinois and not California. There are a number of nautical accents and the wall and a fake stuffed swordfish to give it a little character. If you're sitting at one of the booths along the interior wall you can look through watch people at the bowling alley next door through the conveniently placed windows. Hannah, our waitress, provided excellent service. When we arrived, she told my friend, Tyoni, that her husband, Ron, had been in earlier for breakfast. I like that she gets to know her customers and is chatty with them. I've since met Hannah at the Lake Summerset pool, so she must be a local. Our arrivals were all staggered, so people kept joining us over the first 15 minutes we were there and ordering at different times. She kept our food coming out quickly, refilled our water glasses, and delivered correctly totalled separate checks to us at the end without our having to ask. I ordered a reuben sandwich, the ultimate comfort food which consisted of a large pile of thinly sliced corned beef with sauerkraut and melted Swiss cheese. It was accompanied by a bowl of Thousand Island dressing for dipping and tangy pickle. I had a choice of sides and skipped the fries and coleslaw to order a side of fruit which she brought ahead of the rest of my food when everybody else received their soups and salads. I thought that was a nice touch. The food was very good, but not amazing. Three stars equates to "A-Okay" and this meal was definitely A-OK. Other people at the table ordered the Southwest Salad which looked good and the senior special fried chicken which also looked very good, though I didn't try either of them. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area as the food was good and the prices very reasonable; most of the lunch specials were around $6. update: I returned the following week with the Bible Babes and ordered the grilled chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun with cranberry mayonnaise and a side salad. The pretzel bun was good, but the sandwich was a little dry; there was only a light drizzle of the cranberry mayonnaise and while it was tasty I'd have been happier if the cranberry flavor had been a little more pronounced. read more

Is a grate place to eat with the family. Kid friendly hooked in with a bowling ally. You can realy make night or midday out of it. The food is ok made better by the super friendly wait staff. read more

Cannot beat the food for the price! I ordered the blackened shrimp alfredo linguini that was on special. It came with a choice of two sides. I had the cheeseburger soup on recommendation of the waiter and it was a meal in and of itself. The number of shrimp was very generous and the alfredo sauce was as good as any I have had at a Chicago Italian restaurant. Very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back. Must be newer owners from years back because it is definitely improved. read more

below average food, depending on who you get, service could be good, most times, not so much. Tonight I ordered the cod, hash browns extra crispy, and a salad thanks. Out comes the brown salad with runny ranch dressing, the tomato (ONE cherry tomato) I literally spit into a napkin, it was bad. Out comes my cold corn, half cooked hash browns and cod. The cod was like eating rubber, it was horrible. Never saw the waitress until I was completely done with my dinner. I only eat their two or three times a year cause it's convenient and I always cringe wondering if the food will be edible. Prices are the same as any other restaurant. Settled in the country, this breakfast / Greek dinner is sold. They have good quality at a very reasonable price. The staff treats everyone like a local and there is no rush. In the same building is a bowling alley and a pretty good bar. If you're in the area it's well worth the stop. Enjoy. read more

The best Friday night fish fry. All of the soups are great. Staff is always smiling and friendly.

My husband & I have been stopping here to eat every weekday for weeks while on our way home from UW Hospital in Madison, WI. We find the food is great, prices reasonable and our server, Kyle, delightful. Kyle has our cool drinks ready as soon as we walk in the door and is very attentive during our meal. Don't waste your time or money. We are Lake Summersetters and drive past this dump every time we want to go out. No amount of driving matters, just get away from here. It used to be good 15 years ago when the parents ran the place. Now you take your chances that the food is even fully cooked before it is served. The coffee is average and they buy their desserts so if you are forced to go there, stick to pie and coffee for the sake of your gut. Read the other local reviews if you don't believe me. I have been going there for years and I have finally learned my lesson. The service is usually good but the food has finally made it to terrible. I went there on Saturday 11/14/15 and ordered a 3 alarm chicken sandwich. What a huge mistake! The chicken was so overcooked, it was like eating shoe leather. The waitress came back after like 10 minutes and I had already pushed my plate aside due to the terrible taste and texture of the chicken. I am not usually one to complain so it was extremely bad. She relayed the information to another server that was there eating the same thing. That server then came over and asked about my chicken. I told her the same thing and she AGREED that it was terrible but only thought it was her sandwich. She then went into the kitchen and came back saying she had told the cook that the chicken was bad and they had received many complaints. I was thinking, "great" they must be on it! I was wrong. They didn't offer an apology nor did they offer any discount for the garbage food. Due to my displeasure with this visit, I will never go there again, not to the adjoining bowling alley and bar. I will let all of the people I know at the lake not to go there as well. You would think a place with a location like this would actually care but I guess not. read more
