Tons of books--older ones, not a lot of current. But the place stinks of cigarettes. If you're not a smoker and don't want to come out of there smelling like an ashtray, don't go. Or be very prepared. I found two books I've been looking for so that's a plus. read more

The Book Cellar is located in a plaza, specifically in a corner, next door to The Donut Cafe. Plenty of parking available. On a road trip from Nashville to Knoxville, my husband and I decided to take a detour here because we saw the signs from the freeway. Being the avid reader that I am, I was intrigued. This store is pretty big what a lot of books that are organized by genre or type and in alphabetical order. But some books are also just randomly placed that doesn't make any sense. Books are priced very cheaply, only being a few dollars (most of the books I saw was priced $4 or less) and some are in fairly good condition. But just as previous Yelp members had written in their review, the restroom in the back does not have any soap but had hand sanitizer. Also only the cold water side was working and came out slow (as nerdy as it sounds, this is one of the reasons I like to travel with pocket soap sheets). I ended up purchasing 2 books but probably could have purchased more and spend more time here browsing. But only have limited space to bring back with us on the plane and also we still had to drive to our final destination. I do want to mention that when I first came in here, the employees did not greet me, which is fine. But they did greet the woman who came in after me. There were 3 older employees at the register and only asked the woman if she needed any help but not me. But later on when I did pay for my items, a sweet girl was friendly and had asked if I found everything that I was looking for. Customer service can be a hit or miss. And this store is best for those who enjoy browsing and looking for hidden gems (reminds me of the clothing racks at Ross and Marshalls where you have to search for items). read more

Book Cellar - Books, Mags, Music & Video Near Me - Crossville, Tennessee

This was my first time at this book shop. Saw the billboard along I-40, I'm always looking for book shops. AWESOME place to browse for previously owned books. Nicely categorized, ample room to walk around. The lady behind the counter, sorry didn't get her name, was helpful, polite and was able to tell me exactly where the type of book I was looking for would be. Will definitely go back...ya never know what you'll find..and the prices are difficult to beat !!! read more

A very unique book store. It's a bit hard to manage at first walk in. But if you know what you're looking for or if you don't. They have it labeled well for sections. If you give yourself the time and effort you can find some great things for a great price. I'd def. Go back. read more

We had some time to kill while passing through Crossville, TN so we stopped to browse. This place is ok. There was a massive christian religious section; it included both fiction and nonfiction. That's not our thing. There was a decent amount of books that were non-christian books, but a lot of it was dated. It's great for browsing around, but don't expect to find a lot. read more

Truly enjoyed browsing around. Started a series a couple years ago and couldn't find the 2nd book, walked into the book cellar and they had them all! Books are all in really good to excellent condition, staff is friendly and helpful. I will be bring some of my books in for trade in. read more

We love to browse used book stores, so we pulled off the interstate to try this one on our latest trip. I don't recommend stopping here. The store is fairly large, but the selection is very limited in several areas, such as children's books, science books, and history books. The lighting is horrible. One whole section was out, and it was very dark. The worst part was that the bathroom had no soap. How disgusting! You can get a bottle of soap for $1 to stick on the sink. The idea of all the germs that must be in that store is gross. How do the employees wash their hands after using the restroom? And then they touch stuff they're giving to customers? Gross! read more

Whenever we visit my family in Crossville, we always have to carve out a substantial amount of time to visit the Book Cellar. It remains the most impressive used book store we have ever been to. And the books are so cheap! A real gem. We need a place like this in Denver. read more

Best used book store I've visited in a while. Friendly, well-stocked, reasonable prices. Everything is sorted into the usual categories, with wonderful surprises like "men's adventure series" and "movie and TV tie-ins." I wandered in expecting to find a few gems and ended up leaving with a box full of books. I discovered this place while on vacation in Tennessee. We plan to visit the Crossville area again soon and I've blocked out a whole afternoon to go through the entire store. This places is aces - don't pass it by. read more

This is a great used bookstore. The store is clean and well organized. The staff are friendly and very helpful. They greeted every single person that came in with a genuine hello/greeting. There's a lot to choose from and average prices are mostly .75 to $3.00. They will give you a banana box for large orders. The only negative is the bathroom. It's a little shabby and the water faucet didn't work. However, it is gender friendly/unisex. Plus, music would be welcomed. It's a little too quiet. Back to the positives. There's plenty of parking. They have free books outside for anyone. Overall, I was very happy with my experience and plan on coming back. Check it out. read more

Love the Book Cellar! It has many wonderful books for cheap. There are many books on Christian authors. There are also many novels for $1. Books that aren't cataloged are set out from for free. This is a wonderful asset to our community. The organization could be a bet better but that is what makes the Book Cellar so unique, you never know what you're going to find. Large store, lots of books. Seems like mostly romance and other books that would appeal to women. No art books and no books that appealed to my husband. read more
