They do feature plenty of non-fiction books and gift items (stationary) for traveler's that wish to grab something quickly that is thoughtful and bookish too. I remember when they sold records and magazines, and while the post-pandemic version leans more into books, gifts, and coffee, the heart of the place hasn't changed. It's still a space that invites you to wander, discover, and hang out. There's something special about its scale and presence as it stands as one of the largest and most iconic independent bookstores in Texas, but never loses that personal, neighborhood feel. Still one of my favorite places to spend time.

They have a lot of other imported Japanese stationary brands as well and it's an impressive selection with fair prices. They carried kokuyo, campus, kleid stationary and many others. Also I discovered some new brands like leuchtturm1917 from Germany. They also showcased a local artist named Chris Gomez of Kaiju Cuts. They also were selling some books and many Austin souvenir. I really like the Austin public library hat and at $20 it's a steal. The tote bags are also very cute and would make a great gift.

There was a scratch that concerned me, so the owner of the store put it on the turntable and it played right thru it. My most recent interaction with them was not great and their customer service seems to have lapsed. They sold a product that they didn't follow through on and after they finally refunded me they just said here is your refund. No admitting to not providing the item/service that was purchased, no apology and no accountability after I spent hours in a live show not to get what I purchased. After I said thank you for the refund but that I was disappointed there was no acknowledgment or apology they just sent me a thumbs up. The customer service used to be much better. Good luck.

I found a lot of merchandise with no price tag on the item nor a sign with the price. It's obnoxious to have to bring an item to an employee to have them price check it. So if ya can't put a price tag on it then I'm not buying it. I wasn't greeted by any employees upon entering. There was live music right outside. I enjoyed my walk thru the store browsing all their cute merchandise but I didn't buy anything.
