Having my PhD thesis bound couldn't be more straightforward, and the turnaround is impressive. Highly recommended.

The Copy and Print Shop

Nightmare scenario: you need your dissertation bound with less than 24 hours to go. Solution: Copy…read moreand Print Shop. These guys are brilliant - the staff are friendly and chatty, always able to help. They definately helped me out in my time of need. Normally during dissertation time, you need to book your dissertation in at least 2 weeks in advance as they get pretty busy, but luckily they managed to squeeze me in last minute (life savers!), as to which I will be eternally grateful. Nice selection of services - I will definately be going back there if I ever need anything in the stationery department.
So overpriced!! And one of the male staff members - so rude…read more Printed out a portfolio, and the grey tones didn't even show in it and some other drawings were very faintly printed. I won't be going back.

I found that they have an ancient printing press and can demonstrate letterpress printing. They also are able to do traditional book binding as well as colour photo copying, a run of business cards even raffle tickets. They sell a range of art materials from half pans, tubes of professional grade watercolours acrylics and oil paints. Then you can have all kinds of specialist paper that can be cut to size. And if you are into paper, then ask about their Paper Making Museum.
This looked like an interesting shop that gave little away from the outside, and so I ventured in…read moreto investigate further. What this shop offers that sets it aside from others nearby is a range of (mainly artistic) hobby products. This includes various types of paints, brushes and even Revell model aircraft kits I used to construct as a child that I haven't seen out with a model shop for years. As well as this, there is a good selection of useful stationery including school type jotters, which can sometimes be a rare find, and pipe cleaners! Something that is on every Blue Peter watchers wish list. The staff were very friendly and I enjoyed having a good chat with the owner about the local area and her shop. The pricing however, seemed quite variable and I felt myself slightly concerned at the apparent expense of some of the stationery products. However, I'm rating relatively high purely for the nostalgic value added by the model kits and the availability of artistic products which can be quite hard to come by.

As well as popping into the shop, orders can be made by post or telephone and the finished product can be posted out, so there's really no reason to go into the shop at all. It also offers Internet access at 90 pence per half hour, which is quite reasonable. I have taken advantage of this service on many occasions, as there are no other places that offer it nearby. The internet is fast and both black & white and colour printouts are availible as well. I just feel sorry for the friendly chap who owns the shop, as the place doesn't seem to attract very many customers. It is always completely dead - quite surprising given the great services on offer at a reasonable price.

There is a sub charge before you have even started. I think it's £1 for sub charge before you have started. The 25p per page after that.
