You can get anything you want there... prices are fair but the staff is fantastic! I sent my husband there to pick up a book for me for Christmas... he found himself a couple of dollars short, and the clerk paid the difference so he wouldn't have to go back and get the $2... You don't find that very often! read more

This is quite a book store for a small town. My wife thought it was bigger than Barnes & Noble. She found what she was looking for. I wasn't really looking for anything specific, just something new and interesting to me. I was over whelmed with the selections available. I needed more time. Friendly helpful staff. I love the store, but the hours are not feasible. Whatever excuse is on hand to explain this, is irrelevant, honestly. Covid is not a reason to open later. Neither is the shift length, because plenty of people work 12 hours a day, like myself at times, but the open hours can be split into AM and PM shifts. 8am would make more sense to open, even though some folks have to be at work at 8. So 7 would be amazing, although doubtful. If think about your clientele, people who read books probably have at least a little interest in bettering themselves, which a lot of times, includes waking up earlier. So why not tend to your customer base and their needs. In addition, Yelp shows the hours as opening at 9am. That would be a little better, but it is incorrect. 10 is the opening time, unfortunately, for this location. read more

Top of the bell curve. Prices were a bit high, but probably on par for a new book bookstore. Tough market. Nothing special. Sad, because I love bookstores, but it feels like in person bookstores are going to need to reinvent themselves in order to stay in business and this store doesn't have that vibe. read more

I've always been a huge fan of Books-A-Million, even more now than ever since bookstores are almost completely extinct. We happened to pass by this one in Hot Springs and I just had to stop and check out their selection. This particular store is huge and carries a large array of different books within each genre. We had a difficult time locating a particular book and the staff was very helpful with helping us find the book. The one negative thing that I will say is that their book prices are far higher than what you'd typically find on Amazon.com. However, you pay for human interaction, convenience and the nostalgia of storefront that sell books. They have an amazing bargain section with very reasonable prices. There is also a small coffee shop inside of the store. Nice stop when in the area. Very pleasant and helpful staff. read more

I had never been to a BAM (I guess that's what people call these bookstores), but was enthralled with their selection! In Portland, we have Powell's, a four-story bookstore that takes up an entire city block, so it takes a lot to impress me. BAM had an excellent variety. The only thing that shocked me was the state of the store. It. Was. A. Mess. Like, THE messiest store I had ever been in. And I've gone shopping around the holidays. Calendars were placed in stacks on the floor. Books were misshelved. It was super messy. It still didn't stop us from liking the store, though. BAM! read more

The bookstore was very clean and tidy, but the coffee shop inside was terrible. The young men and women didn't wash their hands to begin with and a young man named Justin was very rude. He yelled at everyone that if they weren't working or buying they needed to get out, and when a girl ACCIDENTALLY picked up the wrong drink he huffed and acted very immature. read more

Shopped here for years, but probably for not much longer. Two weeks ago I waited out a long line to check out only to have the too young girl tell us it is her break and we must go to the end of the next very long line to check out. My purchase was well over a hundred dollars. Laid them down and walked out. Tried again today. The same girl was checking out customers in front of me. She (Alexis?) was very impatient with an elderly lady. Again put my purchases down and left. Don't know who the manager is, but the store is crammed to the point of being dangerous and the employees are rude. Beginning of the end for this store unless something is done. read more

So, I went to this place to buy some books for my students - I teach literature in high school. I spent around $90, and the sales clerk convinced me to join the rewards program and save a few bucks. Service was friendly and I was satisfied... for about three months. Then I got a call from my parents they were receiving magazines in my name - that Books a Million had set up without my knowledge or consent, all over that damn rewards card. I checked my bill to find I'd been charged $22 for subscriptions to Time, Bon Appetit, Country Living, and Good Housekeeping... And it was all through some fly-by-night middle man named Direct Marketing - Continuity/Subscription Merchants located somewhere in New York. There's a phone number to call, but it's automated and they only let you cancel your subscriptions if you start new ones instead. Apparently if you press 0 you get an operator who promises to refund the charges, but doesn't... And when you check Books a Million online to cancel the rewards program - you can't, and they automatically charge renewals every year. The sales clerk never said anything about magazine subscriptions when I signed up. This was all without my knowledge or consent. I'm never shopping here again, and I'm writing to warn you all - don't do the rewards program! This didn't just happen to me. Google books-a-million scam, there are others just like me. read more
