The amount of inappropriate and judgemental comments was ridiculous. After doing a few songs, he sent me the worst versions/takes, raw. When I asked "ok, so I have these recordings, now how do I get them finished?" He says "oh I don't know. I don't do that." So I just wasted some hours in this guy's basement while he insulted my personal life with conspiracies, and all I got was really raw crappy takes of songs that I could have easily done on my phone and no recommendation on how to move forward with the material that we did record.

They wanted a down payment to book some time which is totally cool. I was ready to use my debit card. I even said I would come hand deliver CASH to him to book the studio time since he said he didn't accept debit. Which if you ask me is weird, it's 2021, who doesn't accept debit or credit as a form of payment. He insisted I use Venmo, Cash app or Paypal. I told him I didn't have any of those. I asked if he would send me the studio address. He declined to do so, he just kept asking for the down payment. Setting up an account on Venmo, Cash app or Paypal requires you to input your bank account information. I looked into it, but it takes up to a week to have your bank account information verified for use. I told him this, but he wasn't buying it. I'm not sure if he thought I was lying to him.... He seems like a good guy. But I wouldn't trust it. Literally, I asked like 12 times if I could just drop off cash to him directly. He only wanted a form of payment that was via an app. I've never met this guy and he wants me to input my SSN into an app for him. Hmmmmmmmmmmm P.s. If this was a legit company, why would the owner be requesting $100 for groceries and not studio time on the Cash app. I hope you make the right decision and don't trust this quote on quote 'company'

Somehow they got my last review deleted. So I guess I'll…read moretype up another one. I emailed Joe, the owner of Orbit Audio. I requested 4 weeks in advance to have a spot booked up. I messaged back and forth with the audio engineer he assigned. As a side note, I flew from San Francisco, CA to Seattle, WA to record with them. 3 days before hand, they told me I was still good to go for the session. With about 16 hours before my session they cancelled on me telling me they had booked someone else and couldn't take me in. As a musician of 25+ years, they treated me like a 'second rate' musician. So let me tell you this. If you're an indie artist, DO NOT go here. They cancelled on me just to get a couple more hours of time booked. A little bit of extra money in their pockets. They didn't take into account that I had spent the previous 4 weeks non-stop preparing for the session, just to cancel on me with less than 24 hours notice. These are audio engineers, not artists or musicians. They simply do not care about anything other than the money in their pockets. When I was told I was cancelled, they tried to get me to go to another location at one of their audio engineers house. Please tell me how if I'm looking at paying anywhere between $500-$1,000 for a day of recording and mastering that I would want to go to someones house to record. They will rush you and attempt to take advantage of you. Stay away from here. P.s. If you don't believe me, here's a screenshot from the owner apologizing forgetting to book me. This is my ninth studio album (not counting short projects like demos, yeah, I'm that old), and the…read morefirst time I've recorded with Jason Shavey. I can not imagine a better experience. Frankly, when I found out he'd worked with Heart and some other big names, I was a little worried. My experience is that a fair number of folks who work with big names never let you forget it, or forget how lucky you are to be in their august presences. Jason turned out to be the opposite of that. He seems to really get excited about what's in front of him and when you're in there working with him, you're basically the only person he's interested in. In the course of a two weeks project, we all felt incredibly comfortable and respected every minute. The studio itself is gorgeous. You open this nondescript black door in an industrial building on Aurora and bam, beautiful woodwork, skylights, soothing lights, (even lava lamps if the mood calls for them), and gear for days and days. There's a fat baby grand sitting gorgeously in one room, and the drum room is bristling with so many amazing mics that Tommy, our drummer, damn near got his sleeping bag and moved in. I've sang lots of places and gotten lots of results, but I've never been happier than the tones Jason got for me with a great Neumann mic and some subtle use of various reverbs, in a comfortable little vocal booth with nice wood and glowy amber lights. The console is roughly the size of a landing strip, and the room it is in sounds phenomenal. On Jason: We showed up unready. That's all there was to it. We still needed to write parts to four of our songs. Life happened as it will do and that was what it was. Because Jason was so conducive to the process, and made us so comfortable in so many ways, and expressed no dismay whatsoever, and because he made great suggestions in a really laid back way, we were able to create some of the best stuff we'd ever done right there in the studio in no more time than it would have taken us to track a prepared song anywhere else. Jason is, in fact, the most laid back, chilled out, patient guy in a studio anywhere, with a wonderful sense of humor that kicks in right about when a lot of other guys would start clenching their teeth and muttering at the console. When it comes to skill, Jason is something of a virtuoso at the console. He's got so much gear it's nuts. You wonder if some of it isn't there for the love of having gear, until you see him use just about everything in the console room at one point, with as much mindless familiarity as a master chef grabbing from his selection of knives. He absolutely brings no ego to the process, either; I know some of you will know what I mean to say that it really means something to work with an engineer who is willing to let you hear the things you want to hear, even if he's not really married to your idea. And the guy is a straight up work monster; he gets in the saddle and works 10 hours and you leave for the night realizing he only took a few minutes for lunch the whole day and you kind of feel bad. He's fast as all get out, too. The product you wind up with is fantastic. I'm over the moon about this experience. If you're looking for a place to make that heavy investment in your music career that is a full length studio album, and you're anxious because there a million studios and its hard to know which one is the right one, I will tell you that you can not possibly go wrong here.

Many young, inexperienced artists get wowed by a big board and a sweet mic locker and jump in, only to find out that the engineer is not up to par, both in work flow(time=$) and capturing what you have have in your head properly. Good ears and decades of experience with pro artists cannot be underestimated. I have tracked 2 records in Jason's studios over the years with Children of the Revolution(including a duet with Ann Wilson from Heart), as well recorded and mixed the live "Flamenco de Raiz" CD. He has also run our live sound now for over a decade, both in town and on the road. The consistent audience response is a testament to his ability to capture the sound and translate it to the listener in a powerful way. The new studio is bad ass. We were easily able to mix and have it translate to multiple sources(car stereo, home stereo, etc). The old school SSL magic, plenty of iso booths, as well as a solid mic and outboard selection should give most artists whatever they need to complete their project. But like I said, the real value is that you can still get Jason as part of the package. On top of his skill set, he is a pleasure to work with and has an infectious enthusiasm that is very conducive to creativity. Highly recommended.
