This place is definitely pricey, but when you're about to do a long-haul international flight, I think it's just what you need to make you feel human. We got two lunch boxes before flying to Dubai, and then on to Glasgow. It seemed particularly health focussed compared to the one we had a couple of years back - puy lentil and cumin dip, freekah, nut, berry and herb salad, salmon roll and organic yoghurt as a dessert. We shared one in the lounge, and then had the takeaway box about an hour into the flight. It was positively packed with superfoods which was a great way to start our trip back to Glasgow. While the food on Emirates is normally good, we have had some pretty terrible meals. I like being able to get a treat from Café Vue just in case! read more

I was catching a flight to Queenstown NZ when I dropped by Cafe Vue to get a latte - good coffee. There's a broad selection of pastries and cakes and also sandwiches and rolls which you can either take away or eat on site. I didn't have time to taste any of the food on offer so can't comment on that side but, what I can say it's that I will definitely grab a bite from there next time I'm travelling. read more

Greetings from Auckland. So yesterday I was at Melbourne Airport to get my flight to New Zealand. My man and I were herded through Customs and then we found ourselves on the other side amongst frantically, duty-freed shoppers, and like an oasis of fine dining and reputation, Cafe Vue, sat pretty in its corner beckoning us with promises of a fine breakfast and the best coffee the airport has to offer, surely. Well, unfortunately not so. We didn't have time to stop and enjoy the full table service at the dining area beyond the service counter at the front, instead we ordered takeaway soy flat whites. We were bluntly told that there was no soy milk so I had to go without but my man opted for a regular flat white (I noticed later that it would've been a whopping $1 extra for soy milk). The person serving us then named the price without making any eye contact with us, we paid, and that was it. No 'thank you' or even a look to acknowledge our existence. The coffee arrived fairly quickly, but it was rudely shoved at my man without a word or a look. We walked away towards our gate, my man took a sip of his coffee, looked at me with disappointment and offered me a taste. The beans tasted good, but the milk was merely warmed and had not received the wonderful flat white treatment. It was also an extra large takeaway cup size, and we weren't asked if we wanted the larger or smaller size. Such poor use of the gleaming Synesso coffee machine and Five Senses beans was a downer but I'm still hoping that the food and table service and the gorgeous looking macaroons at the display cabinet deliver the goods in the way we all expect Cafe Vue to do. read more

You know, I got a coconut chicken wrap, a macaroon and a soda, for almost 20 bucks. I would say its expensive, but in all honesty, it didn't feel too bad as you can compare the prices with other places in the airport, and it was quite average compared to the others. BUT, the food was better, and felt more tasty and delicate than lets say hungry jack's or something like that. Plus they had some seating available for the place, and it looked nice. This is why you should read reviews on Yelp prior to going somewhere. Suspect this place is a cash cow, just trading off the 'Vue' name. It ain't Vue. Awaiting an international flight, thought I'd get some breakfast. Toast was overcooked - shouldn't break your teeth - and poached eggs were hard like golf balls. I suppose I don't expect much from the airport, but the name Cafe Vue makes you think of a certain standard. This review only gets two points, because in fairness the porridge was delicious, however I literally cannot drink my coffee it is so horrendous. I ordered a skim cappuccino, and it is a big bowl of milk. They must only use one shot of espresso in the very large cup. The milk is also obviously full cream. The staff are friendly but they have no idea what they are doing. Wandering around with meals, putting the wrong meals down, fumbling back to check with other staff. read more

Was sold on the idea of this place, based on its illustrious connection with a certain well known Melbourne restaurant. Having only purchased a coffee on the public side of the airport - which was adequate, although the waitress seemed fairly clueless as to our questions about cabinet food - I was intrigued about their Plane Box offering as I'd only purchased a Seat & Bag ticket. I purchased this on the other side of security and the customer service was much better. Word to the wise? Don't bother. While it did the job of filling my stomach, there was not a single item in there that I would consider a premium offering and the coleslaw literally looked like they'd tipped it out of a supermarket packet. I wish I'd saved my money and gone to Hungry Jacks before the flight; then at least I'd know that I was getting what I was paying for. read more

OK, I realize it's an airport restaurant but this place is seriously bad. We had a long layover and were in time for a full breakfast.. What a mistake. The eggs looked like they were the result of a botched star trek transport, the coffee was cold and oh my the prices. The ambience is actually not bad an I can imagine that if you're tired and hungry it may seem good, but simply being in an airport is no excuse for serving barely edible mush. read more
