Our guests are STILL talking about how fun, interactive, and unique it was. Dan brought the perfect energy; upbeat, professional, and personable. He read the crowd beautifully and kept everyone engaged. The trivia questions were clever, well-timed, and had all of our guests from every age group laughing, guessing, and jumping in. Even people who normally don't participate in trivia were fully locked in and having the best time. From the planning process to the actual event, SD Hosted was incredibly organized and easy to work with. Dan arrived early, set up seamlessly, and created such a smooth, memorable transition from the ceremony into our reception. We're so grateful we chose them. We walked in and found out that they have a strict age limit, which I discovered when they insisted on scanning my ID into a machine. I'm closer to the tomb than the womb, so I'm not entirely sure what they were expecting to find. But apparently, the machine needed to verify that I'm legally old enough to be there. Afterward, the bartender thanked me by name. My person who is closer to the womb than the tomb forgot their ID. It could have been Justin Bieber, or myself for that matter, but it wasn't going to happen. The burgers would have to be, to go. First impression is the decor is classic, and the place was absolutely immaculate. Later, I noticed the bathrooms were spotless, and perhaps most importantly, there was no graffiti on the walls. It's a class act establishment where civilization survives. There's a back covered patio surrounded by ferns, a great game room, and then the backyard where the food trailer is located. It was Sunday around 2pm, and while talking to the bartender, they mentioned that they had wings out for happy hour and the games. But I had my sights set on the Wagyu burgers. If I must say so myself, it was an excellent choice on my part. The patties were perfectly seasoned, and the toppings mixed with the Wagyu juices to create a delicious little sauce. I happened to have some chips underneath the burger, and they basically became the lucky recipients of all that wonderful burger grease. Very, very yummy. Walking around while waiting for my food, one can't help but notice that the bourbon selection is fantastic. While my person was booted, I can still say that all the employees were cordial, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. No attitude, no nonsense just good service. While it's listed as a dive bar, it's way too chic for that classification. I love a welcoming bars with great burgers, an excellent bourbon selection, and enough character to keep me coming back. That being said it's my understanding that the organizers that were managing it walked and a new group of people stepped up and I understand that it takes some time to work out the kinks. We didn't get any photo booth photos because there was only one and the lines were crazy and the photographer did not seem to make it to the area we were sitting but we got some fun pics of our group. Our bus leader was FANTASTIC. Best bus leader since I've been going and head and shoulders above the last two years. What can I say, I like things organized! For this evening kayak event, we met at Aqua Adventures where our guides Gunner and Jordan led us out to the bay area. We were able to go at our own speed, but stopped at resting points for everybody to catch up. This was a really fun, chill event out on the water. Pros: lots of alcohol, super friendly vendors, San Pellegrino everywhere to keep you hydrated, nicely decorated with Day of Dead photo ops, fresh hot tacos (all delicious) with fancy toppings, restaurants from TJ, Mexicali, SD, variety of tacos from lengua to Thai to ahi to salmon, free parking, nice variety of alcohol from sangria to beer to wine to hard cider. Cons: long lines, waste of plates, no table tops/belly ups or seats unless part of VIP section, no dessert booths, lots of empty booths and/or vendors ran out of food before 2:00. But getting to go for free makes me even embarrassed to bring up the cons. Truly it was a great event. Liberty Station was a great venue for this because it was spacious for the amount of people in attendance. Tix were sold out. Parking is easy and free. Only caveat: I didn't check out restrooms or see them but I do wish there were handwashing stations around. Some vendors were eating with the same gloved hands they were serving from.

Just call me the Merry Maker!…read more We have been attending this event since it's humble beginnings, both the Holiday and Spring shows. All I can say is that it gets better and bigger each year. I preferred when they changed up the event locations, as some did allow dogs. I've always heard the Port wouldn't but there were many there on this bright sunny December day. Service dogs, questionable. The first year at Port Pavilion, the security guard let us in to run and take a photo with our dog at the photo booth, then we were able to sit outside, eat and have a cocktail. My husband let me roam the booths. Handmade and well priced deals, there is live music and a DIY craft bar. I worked with a couple who were selling their product. Impressive, they paired up with Hugh Jackman and his coffee company and they added their own custom candle. They have provided to the Golden Globes. There was not just one photo booth this year, but there were two, You could double your fun. We chose the Camera Camper as it's been my favorite photo booth to date, experienced it at one of my favorite Yelp events. Also, I am a bit suspicious of a Santa who looks to young. Santa's little helper though, I got a kick out watching her look and laugh at the photos. All I can say is "Oh, what fun for days". This was my…read morefirst year, so I joined a great group of like-minded Yelp Elites to wander the gaslamp for bites, sips, and discounts galore. My group visited nearly all of the businesses. Some were better prepared, and there was a bit of a disconnect between the food and the drinks, but everything worked out and I had a very good time! Some of my favorite businesses were (in no particular order): Gourmet India, Ghirardelli, Fogo de Chao, American Junkie, Ike's Place, The Field, Tin Roof, The Smoking Gun, and Machu Picchu. Each of these establishments, and more, offered great hospitality and tasty snacks and adult beverages. Thank you to Yelp, to the Toast of Gaslamp, and to my friends, especially Emmet, who led the way! Can't wait for a repeat performance!

We actually made it to all but one business! the food was good the restaurants were well organized and prepared for us all stops had clear marking outside to indicate that we had arrived! this was my second event of this kind (i did taste of encinitas recently)... this is so much fun!

Having some bites and brews. Then we hit the block party. There was foodie tents and trucks serving up a delicious mix of foods. A collection of local vendors. Of course there was the music and the band playing was super interactive by dancing in the crowd. This helped get the crowd to participate. There were drinks with a ballpark theme being sold. As well as sample fireball shots for free. I took advantage of this!! LOL I loved how this event also had some doggie adoptions available and a doggie fashion show. With all of the various activities I stayed at the block party for quite a few hours and really enjoyed myself. THANKS YELP!!
