They convert your reputation to make you seem the aggressor when the opposite is true. They ignore their friends long time negative behaviors to support turning your efforts into their accounts without anyone knowing it. They do hand professional handoffs when they should be doing city business. BEWARE! DO NOT BRING INNOCENT UNSUSPECTING CHILDREN TO THIS CITY. I HAVE PROOF. I am not some disgruntled grandmother type who is unhappy with their aging issues. I was a Pediatrics nurse trained in cardiology at Greens Clinic, La Jolla. I worked Pediatrics at UCLA in home health baby hospice care. This is a reckless place to raise children. Those who were raised here have not experienced differently. You can get health care here, BUT that's because you are going to NEED it after they are done buzzing your home. An El Cajon Superior Court Traffic Judge warned me!!! He was not shy about it either. He was bold as blazes!! He asked me a few questions about the behavior of the Sheriffs and IMMEDIATELY RELEASED MY TICKET. After that I got a legal aide app I pay for yearly! But who should NEED to spend that type money just to still be treated unfairly! This is as close to MOB rule as you will ever experience. The fellowships will just wink behind your back. If you have the choice of a different community use it! Simple advice DO NOT live in a city where someone in the power base has what sounds like a made up last name like 'dare' or 'stall.' Santee is a chill city with some nice outdoor spots and a decent downtown area. The lake is pretty and good for a walk or hike. Not a ton of nightlife or restaurants, but it's a solid spot to live if you're looking for a relaxed vibe. Nothing super exciting, but it's Santee. read more

Update we are in 2025 and I'm still being harassed! They fine me for anything they can think of... You'd think I was in an HOA and now if I try to contact them to contest these fines they have their lawyer contact me to tell me I'm not allowed to call email them or show up at city hall for anything. Could be the greatest city in the world IF: 1. Gillespie Field blew up 2. The sherrifs stopped acting like John Wayne 3. It wasn't so dang hot all the time I recently bought my first home here after living in downtown San Diego for some 6 years. I gave up the fun night-time activities and coastal access to become a home owner. All in all there are a lot of plusses in Santee: Restaurants Galore Shopping Galore Clean-Cut Neighborhoods (most areas) Recreational Activities Fishing/Hiking/Camping Outdoors Activities Ease of Access to everything 18 minutes to Downtown. Trolley Access Multiple Freeway Accesses Sports Leagues/Teams Tons of Schools Friendly/Down to Earth People The BAD: Gillespie Field is a damn nightmare. LOUD Buzzer planes all hours of the day. Low Flying Sherrif's helicopters and News Helicopters weird hours in the night. It is a complete noise nuisance and is making me very aggitated and stressed out. Also, it gets Very hot here. Even though it's less than 18 minutes to Downtown SD, it gets some 10 degrees warmer, and there are never clouds here (nice, but makes everything so hot with sun beating down all day). All in all I'm thrilled to own a home in California and live in a mostly classy town, but wish someone would destroy Gillespie Field or enforce their noise abadement rules and make sure the air traffic is not out of control, and make it more active over NON residential areas!!! read more

Ah Santee. Or as the rest of San Diego describes it, country, hot, and desolate. For many San Diego natives, Santee is not a place they venture to largely based on pre-2000's Santee. Before the renovation of the city they would be dead on with their descriptions, and today, yes, it is still one of the hottest areas in the County. But with the introduction of CostCo and Lowe's Home Improvement, Santee seemed to burst overnight. Now with plenty of foodie options ranging from chain to mom and pop, your palate is certain to find the ingredient you've been craving. Being a San Diego native and having also grown up with the stigma of Santee I was pleasantly surprised to return to this area and find such a bustling town. No longer considered a commuter town, many businesses in the area more than support households with the jobs available. The age old drive-in theatre is still nestled on the far side of town anchored by big box stores, and is still less than a desirable way to watch a movie nowadays, the new freeway that cuts through the middle of town makes stopping here for your favorite food, park, or business easily accessible in the minimal amount of time. Have an adventure and take the trolley to it's end point at Trolley Square and you will find Annie's Burgers, Target, Starbucks, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and so much more to pass the time away. Dear Santee, I love you, don't get me wrong! You're hot no matter what time of year it is, and you always smell like Phil's Barbecue. This is enough to make any man horny, but you top it off with the best shopping in the county and cram it into four city blocks. If that wasn't enough, you maintain your figure with the best assortment of outdoor and sports venues this side of Golden, CO. You're like my dream girl; attractive, full of trinkets, fit, smells like brisket! But then you go and let everybody else in! The chastity belt firmly strapped around your waist has been exposed and the gaping scar is an avalanche of horrid tattooed white people!!! Ignorant, broke, vaporizers in one hand, overloaded garbage bag shopping cart and illegitimate child in the other. A parade of lifted truck. The aftermath is the SD Trolley that has taken your pure body and released a forest of pubic lice and a swamp of syphilis across your voluptuous stature. Where did you go wrong? You had everything, a decent upbringing, stable income, a massive makeover, fertile resources, enough space separating yourself from your black sheep cousin El Cajon... You could have had it all! I still think about you all the time. Maybe when you hit rock bottom, you'll rebound and realize what you had, AND KEEP THE F*CKING TRASH OUT OF SANTEE. Great family oriented town loaded with shops a sports complex and many family friendly parks. I would say you get more yard than other towns in San Diego area plus your just 20 mins away from everything with ample choice for driving options. This town performed a 180 over the last 10 years from being predominately an all white town with a "Racist" stereotype attached to it. As of now its a growing city with diversity, and since the town center has been built and the 125 and 52 freeway extensions it has allowed Santee to thrive and grow. There are more upscale housing developments being built and the parks are stellar. I personally have 2 large parks that are kid friendly in walking distance. One is huge with a skatepark and dog park with tons of shade. The local YMCA is awesome and very cheap for a family to join. Santee lakes is great as well and tons of hiking and bike trails to be had here even a builder park for budding climbers. The school system is good as well probably second to only Poway. A lot of people turn their nose to east county they think its more trailer life living but all you will find are good people with non snobbish attitudes from all parts of the country that don't want that densely populated cramped congested feeling you will get from neighborhoods surrounding San Diego. All your family life and shopping needs are right here and in a 5 mile radius. There are multiple gyms from cross fit to karate, gymnastics, jujitsu, and cycling. Even some gyms just for kids to jump around and play. You will see people working out outside all year round in Santee and kids with parents riding bikes. For me, with Costco and Sprouts, Home Depot, Lowes, Ross, Chipotle, and Target all right with in 3 mins drive I'm pretty much in heaven. read more
