They also sell a small selection of cards and oddly, they have a glass case of watches, etc, next to the counter. The staff are always polite and helpful. I recently dropped a pound coin under one the display units and one lady kindly helped me get it out. It's a shame the same can't be said for the pharmacy at the back of the shop. I have always found the counter staff and pharmacy assistants to be uninterested, unhelpful and at worst, rude. When I have asked a question they've rarely known the answer and when I've requested they check with the pharmacist it's been made quite clear that I'm expecting far too much from them. The pharmacists themselves have always been pleasant but the reaction from counter staff and the 40 minute wait for a prescription means that I no longer use this pharmacy.

I asked the young lad behind the counter for some advice and explained what I had been asked to asked. He said he couldn't asnwer and would get a Pharmacist. To his credit he came straight out, listened to my query, asked a good couple of questions and gave some really spot on advice. The Pharmacy team themselves seem to be very good from this transaction but the queue time and length of time to wait for a prescription was a bit off. If they really are this busy then how about taking on some more staff, I only saw two including the Pharmacist behind the counter and the next Pharmacy I went to to get the prescription (wasn't going to wait for nearly an hour), was half the size and had double the staff. I waited 15 minutes there.

The staff are alright most of the time although on few occasions had been rude and also asked for student ID which I didn't have and then they said it didn't matter anyway. The medicines they sell on the shelf are expensive and I can get them far cheaper from other places. They also sell gifts and have a wider range nearer Christmas.

This is a pretty big chemist in the middle of Portsmouth right next door to a doctors surgery to…read moreboot, so it's very convenient. As well as all the usual stuff they have lots of cleaning stuff which is always worth popping in for as it's cheaper than at the supermarket. They also do photo processing. There's always plenty of staff on, and if you need to know what medicine to get for your cough or something they're always pretty helpful.

They sell gifts and get a different range near Christmas. The security guard here always seems to be watching you as if you are going to do something wrong and he is a bit rude. The pharmacist has a consulting room, so if you wish to discuss side affects or such you can do this privately. They do a delivery service and will fetch your prescription from the surgery too. Lots of gift material on display, as well as cards, and make up. My daughter always goes straight to the nail varnish, which she is not allowed! Please be aware that if you are on medication and you don't feel quite yourself, the pharmacist is well trained to discuss this with you and to help you feel better. You don't need an appointment for this.

There are many small sections which include; baby items, hair shampoos & dyes, deodorants, mens, cosmetics and medication. There is also a photo section there for all your developing needs. I have found that if I have any questions to which sort of medication I should take for minor ailments then they have been knowledgeable and have not just sold me the most expensive item. They carry a small selection of offers which are available at the bigger stores, but for any greater needs the Boscombe branch is 10 minutes away.

A friendly enough atmosphere and not too long a wait - they do have a service where they will pick up your prescriptions from your doctor if you have repeats and are nearby. You can then pick up your medication or they can deliver it to you. There is no parking directly outside but several nearby car parks. Prices are reasonable with plenty of offers. You can get a boots advantage card here - everything you buy gives you points which leads to money off items or even free products, after a certain amount have been acrued. This is a clean and tidy store and well stocked with the essentials.
