This newest summer attraction in Vienna is appropriately located on the Schwarzenbergplatz, right next to the Hochstrahlbrunnen - the fountain that celebrates the high quality of water in Vienna. At 3City Wave there's lots of room for spectators as well as an all-purpose pop-up café. Vienna in 2016 has become the newest 'Hang 10' destination. Surf's Up!!

Both were every bit as good here as they were at Zum Leopold and I think you'll be best rewarded at both places by sticking to the Austrian basics. Not to keep comparing the two restaurants but one reminded me of the other and vice-versa and I honestly couldn't say that one was any better than the other. If you have time, try both, or if you like the idea of a less-traveled, more little neighborhood place come here instead.

They have a lunch menu of the day but I wanted to have Wien schnitzel. Don't be shocked if you are the inly tourist in the restaurant! The service was good and efficient but keep in mind that they only take CASH ! The ambience was good, sharing tables, family style. Everyone was very welcoming even when I was the only tourist. Although when we went one was 95% seen. It will take you about half an hour to walk around and see the whole exhibition. You do learn some interesting fun facts about butterflies. Still rainy, so let's stay inside…read more As part of the Hofburg Royal Palace, The Imperial Butterfly House is housed within an Art Nouveau greenhouse in the Burggarten. Admission in 7€. The gravel path makes a loop through the garden and round a small creek and waterfall. The path is quite narrow in spots. As you walk in there is a case of chrysalises. Some butterflies as recently emerged. Not sure if it was the time of year, December, but there were not many butterflies flitting around, or a large variety. I believe I saw around a half dozen or so different types. A single atlas moth larger than my hand was resting near the door as you walked in. You can watch them eat on bananas and special flowers sprayed with honey water. I looped the garden twice, in about 45 minutes. There's a room off from the gift shop that shows a loop film about the life cycle of butterflies and moths. Ok for a rainy day. I wouldn't return.

The website reservation system doesn't work. We booked a table the night before online, but the service team in the day of had no idea about it. They fit us in, so there was no issue. They suggested that you call for reservations vs book online. Their English is outstanding. Americans will perceive the servers as prickly at first, but they're very professional and take pride in their service. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. If the weather is nice, sit on the front patio. The inside of the restaurant is also charming as well! We've eaten here 16 times.

It was a soup that was elevated by the ingredients not being overly processed, and hit the spot on this slightly chilly September night. I had also started to grow tired of having meat, bread, and cheese everywhere we went, so I decided on another special for my entree: the linguine with crayfish. I have to admit that it doesn't appear to be that appetizing, and if you are uncultured like me you may be wondering "how is this dish Austrian," but despite those things it was surprisingly delicious. We finished up with an apple strudel, which really hit the spot. Flaky and warm, and complemented by a scoop of vanilla ice cream, was the perfect way to end this long day of touring. The service was polite and attentive as well, which as Americans we really appreciated, especially because we started dinner quite late. The moment we clarified we weren't together and I brought in my Brown boyfriend, the host seemed visibly perplexed, and the tone shifted. Throughout the evening, we were denied a simple wine tasting, then largely ignored, which left us with a strong impression of biased, discriminatory treatment. To make matters worse, staff repeatedly emphasized the price of everything, which came off as patronizing and inappropriate regardless of anyone's background or perceived status. This experience felt xenophobic and racist, and it was frankly vile--there are far too many restaurants in Austria to support one that treats guests this way. As two physicians who take care of people in their darkest hours, it felt incredibly degrading to be treated this way when we were simply trying to enjoy an evening away from the stress of our daily careers. I would hope that the owners of this establishment would take a hard look at the standards set for their employees and management practices going forward to create a safe atmosphere where all connoisseurs can gather and vibe even in just a moment of peace from the day-to-day hardships we can all certainly relate to. Shameful behavior indeed. Pity, as the ambience and wine selection was delicious but tainted by the ugly reminder of bigotry.
